  • the thing that i just don't get is why didn't the guy whom the skeleton knocked his shield out of his hand at 2:47 why didn't he pick it back up again... then he wouldn't have been killed a little while latter then the swordfight would have gone a bit longer... Plus what happened to the skeleton that got beheaded??

  • HE IS A TIME TRAVELING HIPSTER.

.... just look at that hat.

  • all right weres the smart ass who invented CGI and got rid of good ol claymation?

    YEAAAAAH!

  • Its bloody hillarious when they scream and run! :'D Just had a five minuet laughing fit :')

  • So epic for 1963

  • with a red band at their skull are Spinal from Killer Instics

  • anyone know what the guy was saying when he fires the skeletons up ????

  • this was big for 1963.

  • skeletons scream scarey loved the sceen

  • The natural jerkyness of the stop motion really gave something that CGI can't.

  • i was like seven years when i saw this and i watched it over and over again and loved it!

  • This is one of the best scores in film history!!! Long live BERNARD HERRMANN

  • its the sound track that pushes this over the top for me

  • Greatest movie of all time fuck the haters

  • JASON AND THE Argonauts Made CREEK MYTHOLGY FUN at SKOOL

the first film to use animation prodution for its 1962 film clever thought way head of its time even steven stelsberg not thought of it yet

If now to look back on looks cheaep and funny were as then as child was scared siting behind the sofa with teady bear in hand and comfort blanket around me crying for pooty and bottle of milk and rusk to settle me nerves down to sleep

WAS NOT THE LORD OF THE RINGS PRODUTION TRIOLGY

  • what language is this in?

  • never knew skeletons were that powerful, i though to just died when they where broken up.

  • Sinbad only had to fight one skeleton in the film this afternoon.

  • Exterminate?!

  • The one in 7th Voyage of Sinbad was a bit creepier than these ones to me as a whole, but it's easy to say these are Harryhausen's best creations. The interactions and movements are great and they pose more of a threat in numbers and skill. What a great movie! Granted the acting in these movies may not have been the absolute best, but they interact well while the effects were the biggest deal in the movie the story was still just as brilliant. Sort of leaves something to be desired of today.

  • Make no BONES about it....these sword & spear carrying skeletons are some of the BEST & scariest creatues Ray HArryhausen & his team ever came up with. What a cinematic genius! My favorite scene from any Harryhausen film...and the musical score by Bernard Hermann was AMAZING...just as the one he did for "Mysterious Island" was. THANK YOU for posting this awesome clip! :)

  • OK!...OK!....So it`s a little rough around the edges. Have a bit of respect for something that is nearly fifty years old. It is and always will be, a wonderful piece of classic cinema.

  • 2:28-2:34=Skeleton karate.

  • This was one of my favorite movies as a kid. This part is one of the best.

  • Rays best work imo.

  • This scene had several seconds cut by the BBFC on it's original release, mostly the close ups of the skeletons and the beheading scene. How times have changed.

  • the fuck is juice!!?

  • I still have nightmares with the skeletons screaming.... :S

  • this is the part i remember the most , oh and the talos scene , wonderful

  • 2:26

Ah so THAT'S where that move started!

  • I grew up watching Jason...this is "THE BEST"!!!!!

  • also skeletons can scream--loudly--without those pesky vocal chords...

  • 3:37

wait, you can stab a skeleton?

    and it works?

    mind blown

  • You didn't know that?

It's #1 on The List of Things Everyone Knows:

    1. You can stab a skeleton.

    2. Duh.

    3. See #1-2

  • those skelatons look like nightmare before christmas skeletons

  • looks like just another day in ancient Greece, fighting skeletons with swords , flying around on winged horses all over the place killing ugly chicks with snakes in their+ hair ....I wonder if all her hair had snakes in it

  • go watch that then we all grew up with this and this is great

  • @Schamah no CGI in that moment.

  • Classic scene ;again without the use of CGI crap

  • Evil Dead III (Army of Darkness) ripped this off I think....

  • @worcesterwombat Sam admitted that Ray was inspuration.

  • The effects in old movies are much better than the effects from new movies!

  • yeh it wud be cool i they still had it with high definiton and move them more realistcly then it wud be real lol

  • It must suck to be killed by a skeleton.

  • it must suck to get killed by anything my friend :)

  • this is just awesome!

seriously, the technical brilliance remains still unmatched. i dare say that this is one of the last films featuring real and friggin cleverly innovative special fx. i hope george lucas breaks into tears whenever he sees this cause it makes him realize what a fraud he is ;)

  • So THIS is what a John McCain/Bill CLinton/George H.W. Bush party looks like! haha I amuse myself faaaaar too easily

  • Jason and the Iguloos is better

  • fucking freaky but fantastic movies

  • masterpiece

  • Comical and Witty music ta go w' skeleton warriors

  • I love this movie, it is one of my all time faves

  • Im 14 and I think this film is a masterpiece. There's is something very erie(spling?)about how all the monsters move about. My favorite is probly Silas, the giant stone guy.

  • masterpiece ,harryhausen's skelletons are far scary than those from pirates of caribbean

  • Italian version?? The skeletons were screaming in Italian?!!

    Terrible Tom--Wisconsin

  • Plain awesome. Use to watch this along with Sinbad (1958) when it would come on cable in the 90's. Have these been released on Blu-Ray or HDDVD? I have looked around at stores and haven't found them yet.

  • luckily fo rme i still have a copy on VHS

oh, and excellent choice of name btw =]

  • this is amazing stop motion. it took 4 and a half months to make this scene.

  • The part where all the skeletons scream absolutely scared the sh*t out of me when I first saw this.

  • yer me too ! lol

  • @Scruffy193 We always laugh at that part because it's kindof a womanly screech, and we assume their collective purses have been stolen. ^.^

  • Loooove this movie. Excellent stuff!

  • that was an awesome scene..real talent ...

  • It's amazing how much can be done without computers, as long as there is real talent involved.

  • my favorite film as a kid! what do kids have now? our films and cartoons were so much better, darker and no rubbish about being PC!

  • You have no idea how much I agree with you on that statement...

Here's to the good ol' days of plotline and character development!

  • For fans of "Old School" stop motion animation, check out my short film, "Googatz the Icky Man".

It is my homage to Ray Harryhausen and his classic animated scene of the skeleton fight from "7th Voyage of Sinbad"

Please watch if you desire, and leave a comment if so inclined. Subscribe to easterfilms and we will do the same.
