I agree but he would have had trouble with Ali at his peak, because Ali was an intelligent boxer with one hell of a chin and mouth. He would have mentally tired tyson and KO just like foreman.
The spin that Tyson fought "nobodies" is formulated by how he made them look in the ring. Undoubtedly, the greatest combination of power and speed in division history. I'd say for power and accuracy: Joe Louis.
@MrBumboclart hey bumbo..its easy to start crying like klitschko did when he lost this fight..be honest..klitschkos a good boxer..lewis was just better...that`s boxing man..if u cant defend urself properly ..u get ur face messed up (and lose)..
@0606razor Yeh Lewis is a way better fighter and he whupped Vitali's ass, in all honesty I like Lewis a lot more..but you gotta admit he underestimated this guy and if it weren't for the cut...after a few more rounds who knows how it would have ended up! Vitali isn't going anywhere with that chin and Lennox wasn't in any condition for 12 rounds.
Lewis wahy you didnt give revanch to vitali?? COWARDDDDDDD, that you are, vitali vas wining, you are a great boxer lewis, but vitali vas better, YOU KNOW VITALI, YOU ARE BETTER, sorry my english
everybody says automatically a prime lewis would have knocked him out. bullshit. a prime lewis got ko by oliver mcall, a prime lewis got koed by hasim rahman, no, a prime lewis would fight similarly maybe have a better more snappy jab but he couldn't combo on klitschko. klitschko owned the pace and nearly finished him early, he was ahead when lewis luckily cut him with the stitching on the glove, and lewis was tiring. klitschko wasn't in his prime either don't try to rob klitschko of that.
Lennox Lewis is an all around dream fighter and that's why I have so much respect for Vitali for having the courage to go up against him and actually having a chance to win!
Lewis retied after the fight which he promised vitali a return fight lewis has been knocked out but as not had that pace of a fighter ever over a number of rounds. That is lewis most exiting fight. both klitschkos deserve hall of fame but not lewis......
At the end of round 5, Klitschko walks slowly back to his corner with his head hung low. It's a look that says "I've hit this guy with everything I've got and he's still there hitting me with bombs - I don't think I'm gonna win this". Vitali may have been "upset" at being stopped but I don't think he would've lasted more than another round or two - he was hanging on a lot towards the end and Lennox's uppercuts were finding their mark in the clinches.
You fools are only watching the highlights which was cut to lean towards Vitali, even though Lewis clearly did more damage... watch the full fight and you'll see... Klitschko was going to get knocked out with another uppercut if the fight went on any further. Lol.
love the comments. but you dont get unucky with a cut. you took a shot and it cut ya. tough. i agree lewis would of lost if it had gone any further but to claim your the best against a 38 year old who was ready to retire is a bit much. lewis at his best would do both of these fellas..... even tyson would of as well... their good fighters but not boxers and between them they have only knocked out 20 odd fighters NOT the kos they say most ere tko.s and retirements- check it
klitschko was ready to kill someone, including lewis and the doc. lewis retired before he could give him a rematch, didnt want to die in the 2nd fight. his brother was there too, he wasnt too happy either. that doctor saved lewis' life lol. saved his career too. oh well, he was ahead on everyones scorecards so we all know who the real winner was.
right get this straight lennox is old and slow here, in lennox prime he beat tyson with a knockout. and anyone who thinks tyson is better than ali is stupid cause tyson was the image of joe frazer except tyson was slower than him ang not as strong and had no foot work. Klitschko isnt good at his just got a paticalurally good natural skill the jab so he cant dominate also a reach of 81 inch
And this is why the heavyweight class is no good any more. These guys have the agility of fucking snails. What happened to the class acts like Ali and Tyson? You just don't get heavyweights like that anymore.
@wardishy Ali and Tyson were exceptions to the rule, name other HW's that were particulary agile that didn't move up from the lower weights? these are tw big natural heavyweights brawling, hw action at its very best.
@awefreak123456 more power, more punches, more POINTS!!! The winner was KLITSCHKO! LEWIS WAS A COWARD! It s his fucking problem, when he was unmotivated!!!Òn ALL Scorecards KLITSCHKO was the winner! Lewis was a lucky guy with the broken fight!!!After the fight he says: I GAVE HIM A REMATCH.......!!! FUCK YOU LEWIS!!!
@DocMegabrain Lewis was a couple of points down,Klitschko was badly cut due to a punch if the fight continued Vitali would have been K.O.d cause he could'nt see the punches coming.Lewis was also nearly 40 when he retired quit hating and realise facts.1 Any respectable ref/doctor would have stopped the fight.2 it was a punch that opened Vitali's eye.3 Any cut caused by a punch and leading to fight been stopped = victory to the man who inflicted the cut.4 Lewis dominated for years thats not lucky
@MrConnolly25 Sorry but this is a load of shit. Lewis was in a more tired state than Vitali if anything, and Vitali doesn't go down. The honorable thing to do after such a debatable fight is to give the opponent the rematch and then prove who's better; clearly after seeing what Vitali was capable of, Lennox got scared and thats that. It was a great punch to give such a cut, but if it wasn't for that cut, Lewis was staring down a huge loss.. I mean he was well behind on all the judges scorecards.
@pistolpete58 Are you just lacking basic brain power? Lewis was behind 58/56 on all cards that = 2 rounds or 1 knockdown. So he wasn't staring at a huge loss lol & he wsn't well behind on the judges scorecards.Round 6 was a massive round for Lewis,he hurt Vitali bad & by this point Vitali had thrown his best shots period.Do proper research b4 telling blatant untruths,Lennox was not lucky the cut appeared thats what happens in boxing.
Lennox lewis was way past his best, if lewis fought him in his prime he would have beaten klitschko, plus lewis only got 2 weeks notice that he had to fight klitschko
Either way this was a good fight one of the best. With lennox lewis' exhaustion and vitali klitschko's eye this could of turned into a bloody brawl if it wasn't stopped
simple: vitali in the opening rounds, then gets tired, lewis later rounds, controlling the fight, vitali can only hold on
as the fight went on lewis would have caught the eyes of the judges and thats how the sport goes, a late show is better than an early show, he would have got the decision on that and the fact he was champ at the time, hard for judges to go with the contender if its close
back in his day lewis would of killed him, even then i thought he would of gone on to win, that uppercut stopped him in his tracks, by round 9 lewis would of caught him with big shots then finished him around round 9/10- great fight
@rugbylover95 vitali made lewis look like an amateur in this fight and saying different makes you ignorant and blind, vitali would of beat him without question, and lewis knew that and that is why he NEVER agreed to the rematch!!
@CirusTheVirus10 lewis was old and way way way past his best, he still didnt manage to put him down. lennox won why would he rematch him? he didnt even have as long to train. is his day, lewis would of killed vitali.
@CirusTheVirus10 not a chance! Lewis was a good fighter but he was one to duck and dodge people until they fought under HIS terms! Like the Tyson fight! Tyson wanted 2 fights before Lewis but Lewis wouldn't let him and said now or never which meant Tyson had very little time to fight!! Vitali would of beat Lewis prime or no prime! this fight was stopped even though Vitali said he was fit to carry on, Lewis was getting destroyed!!
@CirusTheVirus10 Klitcho's face couldn't handle the pressure... yeah, he was getting punches in on Lenox but he wasn't hurting him as much as Lenox was hurting him.
@NooneNewer wasn't hurting him?? where you watching the same fight?? Lewis could barely stand up! Klitschko is tougher mentally and physically! if Lewis wasn't such a girl and gave him the rematch Klitschko would have definitely won! he was just unlucky with the cut thats all.........
@CirusTheVirus10 Dude... it was Klitschko that was falling all over the place, not Lewis.. stop following the commentators and watch the boxing for yourself. Also, I never said he wasn't hurting him... read it properly.
@ajwills27 You need to watch the full fight and not these highlights that were cut to favor Klitchko... Klitchki did beat him up in the 2nd round, but not so in the rest of the fight.
@ajwills27 After Klitchko bested him in round 2 Lewis came out and punished him immediately in teh beginning of the 3rd and that's when that big cut opened up on Klitchko... then he kept catching him with uppercuts all of the 5th round. If the fight went on it would have probably ended up being an injury Klitchko couldn't recover from with his eye for the rest of his life. Watch the full fight.
@rugbylover95 did you watch the same fight? Klitschko shook off that uppercut with ease! Lewis holding on for his life in round 2 was worth mentioning.
@ajwills27 Yeah?... which uppercut you talking about?... the first 5 ones, or the one in round 6 that made Vitali lean all over Lewis after getting hit? Lol.
@jorgeracingclub2009 dosent matter what age you became champion, Tyson beat nobody's to become champion, all that mattered is that they both fought, at a similar age, and Lewis won. look at Lewis career he lost twice, and he later beat both of the people he lost to, Tyson lost six times. I believe Tyson was an outstanding fighter, but when compared to other heavyweight boxers he was no were near the best-Ali, foreman, Holyfield, Frazier, Marciano.
@rugbylover95 what im saying is lewis didnt fight the champion mike tyson, he fought a diferent fighter, the best lewis doesnt have a chance against the prime tyson, just like no one, and he refused to give vitali a rematch because he knew he lost the first one and didnt wanted to risk his health, face it
@jorgeracingclub2009 lewis was great in his prime, tyson fought nobodys, and the first big fighters he came up against who could fight beat him!, lewis was 38 when he fought vitali, way out of his prime and vitali was 32! yes he took a lot of shots and wasnt very good, but he still did enough to win, out of shape, out of his prime and with little training time. There's no way you can argue vitali was better, then and in his prime lewis would of won every time! heavyweight boxing is dead
If you look at the whole picture there is no big issue here. Vitali was on fire in round 2 but Lennox stayed up to continue to inflict serious damage.
people love to say that vitali would win a rematch as though he was destroying with lewis before the fight got stopped. remember that lewis took this fight on 2 weeks notice, lewis was 37 years old and not 100%. yet he still managed to stop the best challange to his thrown without even preparing properly for him. if lewis trained hard for the rematch, then there is no reason to believe he wouldnt be the clear favourite.
@irfanymeri1978 ~ Grow up dude. This is a sport, nothing to do with nationalism. And please, I assume you are born in 1978 which makes you 6 years my senior. Would you be a little more mature? Klitschko did some serious damage to Lewis but so did Lewis. And it's not surprising for Lewis to cause cuts as many of his opponents were badly cut too. So grow up and don't let your childishness control your 33 year old brain please. It's a shame you need a 27 year old to tell you to be more mature...
@favreianvengeance you obviously do not know sh** about boxing. The best boxing it done in the lighter weight classes and I would love to see you try to fight even a 135 pound Juan Manuel Marquez he would Fu** you up! You better go search for sergio Martinez knockout on Paul Williams and tell me he wouldn't whoop your ass.lol
This is probably the last decent heavyweight fight (well the heavyweight is redundant b/c who gives an f about those other wussy weight classes - I don't want to watch someone that I can beat up if I saw em on the streets).
Vitali has 0 defense, that's why he lost this fight. A. He just flat out hits half as hard as Lennox. B. Lennox's def reduces the damage he takes when he does get hit. You see how many times vitali hit him.... and did zero damage? Then you see the few times Lennox hit's vitali how savagely injured he gets. Vitali looked like complete shit at the end of this fight. Fact is.... who spent two days in the hospital after this fight.... right.... that's why he lost.
why do you people argue over the internet even vitali said lennox lewwis was out of condition so your arguing saying he isnt ? lewis was past his prime wasnt scheduled to fight him in the first place but had to fight replacment and it was ....dun dun dun vitali he had 2 weeks to prepare 2 weeks!
why would he risk fighting again if he know he was past it... im not sure if you know this but getting older taking hits to the head really slows down your reflexs thanks
i will never forget what Lewis said when someone pointed out that Vitali was ahead on the score cards: He said who needs judges when you can do that much damage to a mans face !
Lewis gives boxing a bad name, he got his ass handed to him and all he could say for a boxer is that vitali is ok? Anyone who is not biast and watched this fight knows what im talking about.
You guys are all nuts, the only credit I give Lewis is that he only had a couple of weeks to prepare for Klitschko. But during that time before, Lewis was still the heavyweight champion, what do you think he was doing? He was still training just like any other champion boxer. Its not like he was doing nothing, scheduled a fight 2 weeks ahead and started to train. Champions are all ways training and staying in shape, it was Klitschko's power punches that made Lewis look out of shape.
@Szekler11 lewis won, klitschko fans keep forgeting this, at the very end of his career without proper preparation and in the worst shape of his life he hammered klitschkos face open. He was more than a match, he won remember. And yes he retired to prevent a rematch, but so what? What exactly would klitschko have proved by winning against an even older lewis? Klitschko fans just can't get over the fact he lost.
@midnightmilo - Lewis didn't want a a rematch but what does he have to prove anymore? An out of shape, fat and unprepared Lewis won a younger, well prepared Vitali? Why would anyone doubt if he can win Vitali if he was prepared? In fact, Lewis has stated that he has learned that a lot of great fighters tarnished their careers by fighting longer than they should, even when they have nothing left to prove! And I agree with your wholeheartedly, even if Vitali win, is that a big deal at all?
@expressivechild haha thats kind of lame...he was afraid of Klischtko noone has done that to Lewis and Vitali layed a smackdown to Lewis beleive you me when i say that if the fight hadnt been stopped there wouldve been a KO coming his way
@TheArkham13asylum - Only dimwitted people would say that. Back then, even I thought the same and was disappointed being a big fan of Lewis. But after watching the fight again and evaluate the story behind it, I understand it. Emmanuel Steward who now train both the Klitschkos admit as much that Lewis would have beaten Vitali again, hands down. If Lewis can take his punches and beat him to a pulp in his worst shape of his career, you are telling me he can't if he train harder? (continue)
@expressivechild dont talk to me like im stupid im probably the biggest die hard fan of boxing there is. i could care less if i am a "child" infact im quite proud of being younger than you my knowlodge of boxing is all the same. Lewis could take his punches but hes was being hurt repeatedly he was gonna get KO'd that much was obvious. and obviously it was a smart thing to do but you cant just go out and say "yeah he quit to avoid a rematch" all over the place cause you make him look bad.
@TheArkham13asylum - Shows your ignorance. Lewis took more shots from Vitali than Lewis deliver to Vitali. Lewis was getting KOed? You are totally not observant. Lewis was fighting back even when Vitali deliver his best shots. Any half blind man would have noticed. Vitali did great in that fight, but then again to say that he will beat Lewis in a rematch is absurd. He wasn't ready to fight a seasoned Lewis after all. Now, you can take your time being a child but I am not interested.
@expressivechild Oh really and that is why he decided it was best to avoid a rematch. And no he wasnt firing back whenever he got clocked good he clinched. Yes he wouldve beaten him he was ahead on the scorecards Lewis got the lucky punch that opened Klitchskos eye. "Now, you can take your time being a child but I am not interested" are you to stupid to have any conversation without going off like a retard? the world wont agree with you on everything so grow up.
@TheArkham13asylum - Only boxing fans (shallow ones) believe Lewis is afraid of fighting Vitali again. Your ignorance amazed me, is this the first time you watch a Lewis fight? Lewis clinch his way out when he is in trouble in a lot of past fights or did he just stand there and let himself get hit? People like you simply believe in the hype and what's portrayed in the media and the news instead of seeing what's real. But I would waste no more time with you, I rest my case!
@expressivechild if you agreed he clinched dont say he returned fire when he was getting hit i could care less if you think im a shallow boxing fan. and what the fuck are you talking about? you get fed the same shit we do. all your ittle conclusions are drawn from shit you read and see on tv about him right? or you know him so well in person he tells you all his secrets? what case your an idiot dude.
@expressivechild bullshit . so klitchsko knew he was gonna fight lewis, trained for months and lewis didnt know about anything?? if you could please explain the situation cause if lewis only had 2 weeks to prepare then so did klitchsko i mean really. i dont see how Klitchsko couldve prepared full time and Lennox 14 days before the fight man.
@TheArkham13asylum - Lewis was scheduled to fight an average Kirk Johnson. And Kirk got injured and Vitali is announced as the replacement. Vitali knew about the fight earlier, (he mention it himself). Moreover, Lewis was 37 years old as opposed to Vitali, 32 years old. Lacking of training and condition would have obviously affect the older man more. I didn't say Vital get to prepare "full time", he did get to train longer before the fight. First of all, I don't get fed "with shit". (continue)
@expressivechild about his legacy your right but thats still not the point if he was arrogant enough to say: "two weeks!! i had only two weeks to prepare haha!!" then he shouldve shown everyone that he was right.
like i said i doubt he only had two weeks to prepare.
@TheArkham13asylum - I don't only watch the fights and the results or what the media says. I look at records and I analyze them, I even read boxing history as well as techniques, training methods and all that. You do any of that? Or do you just watch the fights? Yeah, Lewis don't want a rematch so he is a chicken, End of story. You, "the biggest die hard fan of boxing" Very mature... What a waste of time.
@expressivechild first i said that cuz you called me shallow or some shit and i fail to see how that is imature you just told me the same thing in a full paragraph jeez...and yes as a matter of fact i do and i have since i was 12 boxing is my life. my trainers would make me do it if i didnt want to anyway. SECOND: if lewis already knew he was gonna fight Kirk he didnt prepare for that fight? i dont think he went in there undertrained i think vitali was gonna win. and (contined)
@TheArkham13asylum - Don't just watch the fights and read the news and what people say, read interviews and see it from various angles. Don't just just a fight! Lewis, if he come back and fight Vitali again, and if he won there will be more challenges wouldn't it? And Lewis knew that his legacy is complete. Continue fighting would only ruin him and if he fight, he would have nothing to prove. He already beat the best the era has to offer. Don't just talk about it...
@FSMNoodlyAppendage Lewis was 37 years old! he was winding down after holyfield II and only waiting for tyson, after that why would he put himself at risk again?. Whats really annoying is lewis fought against klitschko how people had always wanted him to; without holding back as he knew it was his last fight, he destroyed klitschko's face and people still doubt the outcome.
Lewis did get away with the win, but remember he was 37 at the time.
But the way he busted up Klitschko's face was savage,
he looked like he had been hit with an axe, and couldn't see, he needed over 30 stitches to put his face back together. The ref and Dr did the right thing to stop this fight. I would of liked to see a rematch too, But Lewis is a smart man, he knew he was getting old, so he went out on top as champ.
@FSMNoodlyAppendage - What does he have to prove? Lewis only trained for a week before he was told about the fight. And he was training to fight an easier opponent - Kirk Johnson. So what if Vitali beat an old 37 years old Lewis who has proven everything and probably have no more hunger in him. He was the one that many fighters ducked, an old George Foreman would fight Tyson, but not him. He stated that he didn't want no part of Lewis. Tyson, on the other hand didn't want to fight Foreman...
I agree but he would have had trouble with Ali at his peak, because Ali was an intelligent boxer with one hell of a chin and mouth. He would have mentally tired tyson and KO just like foreman.

Really was a great fight too bad, because of the cut Vitali could have created.
I can well understand why he called the years of Lewis rematch.
But now he should give Solis a rematch that could have been a huge struggle.
Especially since Solis was something even better and a ko was not.
Solis is probably the only one who would have a chance against the Klischkos.

At the end of round 5, Klitschko walks slowly back to his corner with his head hung low. right get this straight lennox is old and slow here, in lennox prime he beat tyson with a knockout. and anyone who thinks tyson is better than ali is stupid cause tyson was the image of joe frazer except tyson was slower than him ang not as strong and had no foot work. Klitschko isnt good at his just got a paticalurally good natural skill the jab so he cant dominate also a reach of 81 inch
beeee121 7 months ago
And this is why the heavyweight class is no good any more. These guys have the agility of fucking snails. What happened to the class acts like Ali and Tyson? You just don't get heavyweights like that anymore.
wardishy 7 months ago
@wardishy Ali and Tyson were exceptions to the rule, name other HW's that were particulary agile that didn't move up from the lower weights? these are tw big natural heavyweights brawling, hw action at its very best.

Lewis was 38, semi-retired, overweight, unmotivated and still managed to win the fight. That was a really bad cut.
awefreak123456 7 months ago 18
@awefreak123456 more power, more punches, more POINTS!!! The winner was KLITSCHKO! LEWIS WAS A COWARD! It s his fucking problem, when he was unmotivated!!!Òn ALL Scorecards KLITSCHKO was the winner! Lewis was a lucky guy with the broken fight!!!After the fight he says: I GAVE HIM A REMATCH.......!!! FUCK YOU LEWIS!!!
DocMegabrain 5 months ago
@DocMegabrain Lewis was a couple of points down,Klitschko was badly cut due to a punch if the fight continued Vitali would have been K.O.d cause he could'nt see the punches coming.Lewis was also nearly 40 when he retired quit hating and realise facts.1 Any respectable ref/doctor would have stopped the fight.2 it was a punch that opened Vitali's eye.3 Any cut caused by a punch and leading to fight been stopped = victory to the man who inflicted the cut.4 Lewis dominated for years thats not lucky
MrConnolly25 5 months ago 10
@MrConnolly25 Sorry but this is a load of shit. Lewis was in a more tired state than Vitali if anything, and Vitali doesn't go down. The honorable thing to do after such a debatable fight is to give the opponent the rematch and then prove who's better; clearly after seeing what Vitali was capable of, Lennox got scared and thats that. It was a great punch to give such a cut, but if it wasn't for that cut, Lewis was staring down a huge loss.. I mean he was well behind on all the judges scorecards.
pistolpete58 1 week ago
@pistolpete58 Are you just lacking basic brain power? Lewis was behind 58/56 on all cards that = 2 rounds or 1 knockdown. So he wasn't staring at a huge loss lol & he wsn't well behind on the judges scorecards.Round 6 was a massive round for Lewis,he hurt Vitali bad & by this point Vitali had thrown his best shots period.Do proper research b4 telling blatant untruths,Lennox was not lucky the cut appeared thats what happens in boxing.
MrConnolly25 1 week ago
Lennox lewis was way past his best, if lewis fought him in his prime he would have beaten klitschko, plus lewis only got 2 weeks notice that he had to fight klitschko
mrwaqy 7 months ago
Either way this was a good fight one of the best. With lennox lewis' exhaustion and vitali klitschko's eye this could of turned into a bloody brawl if it wasn't stopped
MrJasonrolfe 7 months ago
simple: vitali in the opening rounds, then gets tired, lewis later rounds, controlling the fight, vitali can only hold on
as the fight went on lewis would have caught the eyes of the judges and thats how the sport goes, a late show is better than an early show, he would have got the decision on that and the fact he was champ at the time, hard for judges to go with the contender if its close
donnav786 7 months ago
Under in all judges scoreboards...
Retiring when vitali asked him for a rematch...
For me the winner is definitely vitali

back in his day lewis would of killed him, even then i thought he would of gone on to win, that uppercut stopped him in his tracks, by round 9 lewis would of caught him with big shots then finished him around round 9/10- great fight
rugbylover95 7 months ago 10
@rugbylover95 vitali made lewis look like an amateur in this fight and saying different makes you ignorant and blind, vitali would of beat him without question, and lewis knew that and that is why he NEVER agreed to the rematch!!
CirusTheVirus10 7 months ago
@CirusTheVirus10 lewis was old and way way way past his best, he still didnt manage to put him down. lennox won why would he rematch him? he didnt even have as long to train. is his day, lewis would of killed vitali.
rugbylover95 7 months ago
@CirusTheVirus10 not a chance! Lewis was a good fighter but he was one to duck and dodge people until they fought under HIS terms! Like the Tyson fight! Tyson wanted 2 fights before Lewis but Lewis wouldn't let him and said now or never which meant Tyson had very little time to fight!! Vitali would of beat Lewis prime or no prime! this fight was stopped even though Vitali said he was fit to carry on, Lewis was getting destroyed!!
CirusTheVirus10 7 months ago
@CirusTheVirus10 Klitcho's face couldn't handle the pressure... yeah, he was getting punches in on Lenox but he wasn't hurting him as much as Lenox was hurting him.
NooneNewer 7 months ago
@NooneNewer wasn't hurting him?? where you watching the same fight?? Lewis could barely stand up! Klitschko is tougher mentally and physically! if Lewis wasn't such a girl and gave him the rematch Klitschko would have definitely won! he was just unlucky with the cut thats all.........
CirusTheVirus10 7 months ago
@CirusTheVirus10 Dude... it was Klitschko that was falling all over the place, not Lewis.. stop following the commentators and watch the boxing for yourself. Also, I never said he wasn't hurting him... read it properly.

ajwills27 6 months ago
@ajwills27 You need to watch the full fight and not these highlights that were cut to favor Klitchko... Klitchki did beat him up in the 2nd round, but not so in the rest of the fight.
NooneNewer 6 months ago
@ajwills27 After Klitchko bested him in round 2 Lewis came out and punished him immediately in teh beginning of the 3rd and that's when that big cut opened up on Klitchko... then he kept catching him with uppercuts all of the 5th round. If the fight went on it would have probably ended up being an injury Klitchko couldn't recover from with his eye for the rest of his life. Watch the full fight.
NooneNewer 6 months ago
@rugbylover95 did you watch the same fight? Klitschko shook off that uppercut with ease! Lewis holding on for his life in round 2 was worth mentioning.

@jorgeracingclub2009 well no, when Lewis ko'd Tyson he was a year older than him..
rugbylover95 1 month ago
@rugbylover95 yes, but tyson became a champion whn he was 19 years old, how old was lewis when he became a champion?
jorgeracingclub2009 1 month ago
@jorgeracingclub2009 dosent matter what age you became champion, Tyson beat nobody's to become champion, all that mattered is that they both fought, at a similar age, and Lewis won. look at Lewis career he lost twice, and he later beat both of the people he lost to, Tyson lost six times. I believe Tyson was an outstanding fighter, but when compared to other heavyweight boxers he was no were near the best-Ali, foreman, Holyfield, Frazier, Marciano.
rugbylover95 1 month ago
@rugbylover95 what im saying is lewis didnt fight the champion mike tyson, he fought a diferent fighter, the best lewis doesnt have a chance against the prime tyson, just like no one, and he refused to give vitali a rematch because he knew he lost the first one and didnt wanted to risk his health, face it
jorgeracingclub2009 1 month ago
@jorgeracingclub2009 lewis was great in his prime, tyson fought nobodys, and the first big fighters he came up against who could fight beat him!, lewis was 38 when he fought vitali, way out of his prime and vitali was 32! yes he took a lot of shots and wasnt very good, but he still did enough to win, out of shape, out of his prime and with little training time. There's no way you can argue vitali was better, then and in his prime lewis would of won every time! heavyweight boxing is dead

people love to say that vitali would win a rematch as though he was destroying with lewis before the fight got stopped. remember that lewis took this fight on 2 weeks notice, lewis was 37 years old and not 100%. yet he still managed to stop the best challange to his thrown without even preparing properly for him. if lewis trained hard for the rematch, then there is no reason to believe he wouldnt be the clear favourite.

TheArkham13asylum 1 year ago
@Szekler11 lewis won, klitschko fans keep forgeting this, at the very end of his career without proper preparation and in the worst shape of his life he hammered klitschkos face open. He was more than a match, he won remember. And yes he retired to prevent a rematch, but so what? What exactly would klitschko have proved by winning against an even older lewis? Klitschko fans just can't get over the fact he lost.
midnightmilo 1 year ago
@midnightmilo - Lewis didn't want a a rematch but what does he have to prove anymore? An out of shape, fat and unprepared Lewis won a younger, well prepared Vitali? Why would anyone doubt if he can win Vitali if he was prepared? In fact, Lewis has stated that he has learned that a lot of great fighters tarnished their careers by fighting longer than they should, even when they have nothing left to prove! And I agree with your wholeheartedly, even if Vitali win, is that a big deal at all?
expressivechild 1 year ago
@expressivechild haha thats kind of lame...he was afraid of Klischtko noone has done that to Lewis and Vitali layed a smackdown to Lewis beleive you me when i say that if the fight hadnt been stopped there wouldve been a KO coming his way
TheArkham13asylum 1 year ago
@TheArkham13asylum - Only dimwitted people would say that. Back then, even I thought the same and was disappointed being a big fan of Lewis. But after watching the fight again and evaluate the story behind it, I understand it. Emmanuel Steward who now train both the Klitschkos admit as much that Lewis would have beaten Vitali again, hands down. If Lewis can take his punches and beat him to a pulp in his worst shape of his career, you are telling me he can't if he train harder? (continue)
expressivechild 1 year ago
@expressivechild dont talk to me like im stupid im probably the biggest die hard fan of boxing there is. i could care less if i am a "child" infact im quite proud of being younger than you my knowlodge of boxing is all the same. Lewis could take his punches but hes was being hurt repeatedly he was gonna get KO'd that much was obvious. and obviously it was a smart thing to do but you cant just go out and say "yeah he quit to avoid a rematch" all over the place cause you make him look bad.
TheArkham13asylum 1 year ago
@TheArkham13asylum - Shows your ignorance. Lewis took more shots from Vitali than Lewis deliver to Vitali. Lewis was getting KOed? You are totally not observant. Lewis was fighting back even when Vitali deliver his best shots. Any half blind man would have noticed. Vitali did great in that fight, but then again to say that he will beat Lewis in a rematch is absurd. He wasn't ready to fight a seasoned Lewis after all. Now, you can take your time being a child but I am not interested.
expressivechild 1 year ago
@expressivechild Oh really and that is why he decided it was best to avoid a rematch. And no he wasnt firing back whenever he got clocked good he clinched. Yes he wouldve beaten him he was ahead on the scorecards Lewis got the lucky punch that opened Klitchskos eye. "Now, you can take your time being a child but I am not interested" are you to stupid to have any conversation without going off like a retard? the world wont agree with you on everything so grow up.
TheArkham13asylum 1 year ago
@TheArkham13asylum - Only boxing fans (shallow ones) believe Lewis is afraid of fighting Vitali again. Your ignorance amazed me, is this the first time you watch a Lewis fight? Lewis clinch his way out when he is in trouble in a lot of past fights or did he just stand there and let himself get hit? People like you simply believe in the hype and what's portrayed in the media and the news instead of seeing what's real. But I would waste no more time with you, I rest my case!
expressivechild 1 year ago
@expressivechild if you agreed he clinched dont say he returned fire when he was getting hit i could care less if you think im a shallow boxing fan. and what the fuck are you talking about? you get fed the same shit we do. all your ittle conclusions are drawn from shit you read and see on tv about him right? or you know him so well in person he tells you all his secrets? what case your an idiot dude.
TheArkham13asylum 1 year ago
@expressivechild bullshit . so klitchsko knew he was gonna fight lewis, trained for months and lewis didnt know about anything?? if you could please explain the situation cause if lewis only had 2 weeks to prepare then so did klitchsko i mean really. i dont see how Klitchsko couldve prepared full time and Lennox 14 days before the fight man.
TheArkham13asylum 11 months ago
@TheArkham13asylum - Lewis was scheduled to fight an average Kirk Johnson. And Kirk got injured and Vitali is announced as the replacement. Vitali knew about the fight earlier, (he mention it himself). Moreover, Lewis was 37 years old as opposed to Vitali, 32 years old. Lacking of training and condition would have obviously affect the older man more. I didn't say Vital get to prepare "full time", he did get to train longer before the fight. First of all, I don't get fed "with shit". (continue)
expressivechild 11 months ago
@expressivechild about his legacy your right but thats still not the point if he was arrogant enough to say: "two weeks!! i had only two weeks to prepare haha!!" then he shouldve shown everyone that he was right.
like i said i doubt he only had two weeks to prepare.
TheArkham13asylum 11 months ago
@TheArkham13asylum - I don't only watch the fights and the results or what the media says. I look at records and I analyze them, I even read boxing history as well as techniques, training methods and all that. You do any of that? Or do you just watch the fights? Yeah, Lewis don't want a rematch so he is a chicken, End of story. You, "the biggest die hard fan of boxing" Very mature... What a waste of time.
expressivechild 11 months ago
@expressivechild first i said that cuz you called me shallow or some shit and i fail to see how that is imature you just told me the same thing in a full paragraph jeez...and yes as a matter of fact i do and i have since i was 12 boxing is my life. my trainers would make me do it if i didnt want to anyway. SECOND: if lewis already knew he was gonna fight Kirk he didnt prepare for that fight? i dont think he went in there undertrained i think vitali was gonna win. and (contined)
TheArkham13asylum 11 months ago
@TheArkham13asylum - Don't just watch the fights and read the news and what people say, read interviews and see it from various angles. Don't just just a fight! Lewis, if he come back and fight Vitali again, and if he won there will be more challenges wouldn't it? And Lewis knew that his legacy is complete. Continue fighting would only ruin him and if he fight, he would have nothing to prove. He already beat the best the era has to offer. Don't just talk about it...
expressivechild 1 year ago

AMAZING fight. I've never seen such big men go at it like this ever since.
I, and I think alot of other people, lost alot of respect for Lennox Lewis when he immediately retired aftewards, though. Very cowardly.
Vitali did WAY more than enough to get another shot. A rematch should have happened, no question.
FSMNoodlyAppendage 1 year ago
@FSMNoodlyAppendage - What does he have to prove? Lewis only trained for a week before he was told about the fight. And he was training to fight an easier opponent - Kirk Johnson. So what if Vitali beat an old 37 years old Lewis who has proven everything and probably have no more hunger in him. He was the one that many fighters ducked, an old George Foreman would fight Tyson, but not him. He stated that he didn't want no part of Lewis. Tyson, on the other hand didn't want to fight Foreman...
