saw her and james taylor at msg. in 30 years of concert going she is in the top 3 in nights to remember. wow. i love her as it is but after that night it turned into an obsession.
some of the most memorable music of all time was written and performed by people with less than spectacular pipes - bob dylan of course, neil young, patti smith, and so on. carole king's vocals have a special earthiness and vulnerability that make her songs so remarkable. covers of her songs, even by "better" singers, never stack up to the originals.
I saw her on the latest tour with JamesTaylor. Does she have the best voice out there? Of course not. But she IS a GREAT entertainer, talented, creative and engaging. I'll take that over some of the younger crap performers we have now.
@ppp5688 I agree with you there - not the prettiest voice, but she still demonstrates the same passion for music she had 50 years ago. One of music's greatest treasures.
This is by far my favorite of her performance of this song ever. I've bought recordings of it, and none of them compare to this one! Even other vids... this is the best.
I have sensitive ears. I know she's gettin' on and that's the point: unfortunately, for women, especially, the voice doesn't last. Pile on that King didn't train until she was in her 40s and you have an instrument that's heard better days. I adore her, but given that she has the best ear in the biz, I doubt that even she thinks she sounds good anymore.
To lots of rest between shows when she and JT embark again. Lots of rest and signs around her neck asking people not to talk too much to her.
Beautiful song ..... and the 'underlying' message in this song is becoming more and more meaningful as time goes by and the way things go in our overcrowded cities ...
Although I wish I had seen her in concert, I did see a wonderful tribute to her at the Zachary Scott Theater in Austin, TX. Her music is awesome!

My very first concert was Carole King, I was all of 15. Have seen so many major performers, I will never forget that night. The best!

Can't sing worth a damn anymore, but I still love to hear her play. Love that girl's piano playing.

What?! Carole sings beautifully, and considering she's 68, that's amazing. Maybe a tad raspy, but that's to be expected in an advanced age.

@captaineasychord1 I thought she sounded great, smooth performance xo
