  • R.I.P. Buddy Holly- know that your music is still carrying on and being covered by the greats

  • Comment removed

  • i wish i was that poet...

  • she looks so cute

  • So amazing! Makes me homesick for New Orleans even more than I already have been!

  • I think this is an amazing cover myself...

  • I really dislike this... Would leave the way Buddy or the Stones did it.... Sorry to upset the fans and try to not call me names ;)

  • I like the chilling effect she sends down my spine with her voice.

  • BUDDY HOLLY would have loved that version :)

  • This Is so freaking awesome. Can't help but put this song on repeat.

  • Brilliant!

  • Love the doggy lol ;)

  • Fucking indie song ! :D

  • One thing I'm sure of: FLORENCE will NOT FADE AWAY.

  • I'm an American who's ancestors traveled alot, so i'm basically everything in Europe except for Portugese and Spanish. And you know what? My favorites= Florence

  • i'm still watching this an hour later and i just noticed someone told someone else not to be ridiculous and inflammatory. well first of all it's ridiculous to tell anyone what to do and if it weren't for inflammatory commentary you would have nothing to cry about.

  • sorry, maybe that was a little to honest. i'll bet she would like it though.

  • i would use my freak flag to wipe her off when i'm done!

  • ok i'm not being totally honest, i do like hip hop, especially when i laugh at people who pretend to like it. but jazz? no. no. no. even god hates jazz. probably the one thing we agree on.

  • where is the fucking repeat setting?

  • you could argue that she is in fact a sexy woman or you could just shut up and enjoy. i have and will continue to enjoy all she has to offer. you can tell me how it's goin to be..btw i'm an american and i'm the devil and i invented rock and roll but jazz and hip hop are just some kind of cosmic joke i had nothing to do with. they are like caviar, only the truly desperate pretend to enjoy it.

  • spanky22000 - Really? I think the US has given the world Jazz, Rock & Roll and Hip Hop. Seems to me that shows a bit of taste and talent. ;-)

  • THE MAKEUP IS AMAZING!

  • buddy holly > grateful dead > THIS

  • i always say, the best music came from UK

  • spanky2200 you are so right

  • This is so different from the original. And this is what makes it good. When you cover a song, you have to put your soul in it, not copy. Florence really puts her soul in it, you can feel it.

  • 31 peopled faded away

  • PROUD TO BE BRITISH LIKE IF YOU ARE TOO

  • How cool does this song sound, brilliant :)

  • 2:55 = priceless!! <3

  • mr littlelennon , the answer is - 'cus you yanks don't appreciate talent but look and cristian/muslim/budist shit just for "not being racist" witch is just spent money for having a frustrated white/black population with the rest of them being happy ! america sucks mate ( I'm not british , just a royalist romanian )

  • A Youtube comment...fuck I'm a loser...Anyway, after some looking around this might be my favorite cover of this kickass song, ever. Big fan of Florence and the Machine too.

  • i love the shot with her with that crown on dam.. she deserves one !!

  • 0:29 HER TRUE FORM COMES OUT :O

  • FLORENCE is the new addiction ,and i,m happy to say there is no cure ! hello my fellow addicts +_+

  • It kind of disturbs me that this doesn't have 1,000,000,000 views.

  • @MrLittleLennon Are you canadian? if youre not Justin Biebers canadian, not american, and we have jack white, if you are, america has the jonas brothers and miley cyrus, and canada has niel young...

  • this is horrible

  • @JackM2409 fuck off derp

  • @TheBrando382 wtf is a derp

  • @JackM2409 a stupid fucking asshole, in other words, you

  • @TheBrando382 cool, sounds just like me :)

  • @TheBrando382 While I partly agree with you, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Just because he doesn't like this version doesn't make him "a stupid fucking asshole".

  • me encanta

  • CUZ MY LOVE 4 U FLO WILL NOT FADE AWAY <3

  • Gods Grace illuminating through her very soul.... , )

  • I'll stick with the original, the Rolling Stones cover, or once of the Grateful Dead's numerous live renditions.

  • WOW FLO IS SOOO AMAZING , LOVE THIS VIDEO , HAVE TO LISTEN TO THIS EVERY MORNING TO JUMPSTART THE DAY ! and i am in the army of fatm !

  • I <3

    FLO

    U BETTER

    2!!!

  • Hello Janis Joplin

  • ESTA BIEN BONITA ESTA CANCION .. Y SALE UN PERRITO

  • I hope this chick is good. But coopting Buddy Holly, Voodoo imagery, and a neo hippie chick routine doesn't prove nothing to me.

  • Damn, that's shitty... Florence and The Machine know how to do good music, but they are sooo not Buddy Holly... seems pretty much that they didn't understood the delicacy of his songs. But it's okay, they wasn't the only one who screwed it on R.O.B.D. (though this one was close to the worst) - they should've learned with Fiona Apple's cover.

  • 2:56 I was clapping with them... :3

  • Interesting...Good voice

  • Ok.. @spanky2200 Generalizations are always false. Those Americans who found their way here are probably not the listeners guilty of having poor taste in music. the charts have always been about the teenagers and kids, and sales; not what is the most artistically pleasing @jordannadroj20... no. what would be the point of that? It is a refreshing version of a 57 year old song, though, wouldn't you say?

  • First: Sorry for my bad english :)

You have misunderstood me. I did not say that bad music comes from the United States, but that you have a bad taste. By that I mean the popular music in the charts, for example.

I agree with you completely that the greatest musicians and bands come largely from the United States.

  • @spanky2200

NON!! I am sorry, the greatest bands come from the UK. They have shitty weather, they eat god awful food, their beer is warm but I must admit they definitely have the greatest bands with the "sharpest" sound.

  • shite

  • Not quite buddy is it...

  • @MrLittlelennon

@spanky2200 You may have beiber, little lennon, but I don't and i would bet that any american over 13, would not consider young master bieber to be representative of American music.

And Spanky, there are plenty of fabulous musicians and songwriters from America, and you know this. Although I have no musical talent personally, my taste in music is beyond reproach, be the artist american , british or other. btw, thissong may be sung by a Brit, but it was written by an American.

  • @imyourgalfriday

sadly beiber is Canadian not American for you all that are mistaken.

  • I HATE YOU ALL!!!!!! I had until today the chance to don't know anything about Joostin Boober!!!!! AAAAAAARRRgH!!!

...but this Lady really rocKs!!!!!! really cool version!

  • I love this fuckingsong!!!!!!!

  • Hey guys don't be so hard on Justin.Just coz he's a souless dead eyed zombie cock sucker that's used as a tool to brain wash and fleece impressionable 8 year old girls, doesn't mean he should be burned at the stake for polluting the world with his foul presence. All hail Justin :)

  • Nothing bad to say at all this is perfection!

  • Grew up on Buddy Holly. usually not big fan of remakes, especially 50's rock and roll. it always had a rawness and innocence of not be over produced.everyone will have their favorites on this album based on who they like. big patti smith fan, hey she's a jersey girl, not crazy for her song. but this is great. very different from original and she makes it her song plus she's godawful sexy lol

  • this, cee lo's and macca's were the best off the album hands down.

  • Good, but can't beat buddy Holly

  • I just discovered Florence and The Machine this evening on MTV on Demand. Something thrilling happened inside me. Refreshing! I can not wait to see and hear more.

  • @mahovictor i remember when i discovered them last year. Blew my socks off.

  • at 0:17 she is so adorable!

  • Comment removed

  • She got soul in her voice, i love it.

  • I hope acts like this replace all the garbage on top soon. I really do

  • scroll up! ur missing her

  • why do other countries get people like florence and we get justin beiber

  • @MrLittlelennon justin beiber's canadian...

  • @MrLittlelennon Actually Canada gets Justin Beiber. And they would.

  • @MrLittlelennon they get a freaking goddess we get a little troll

  • @MrLittlelennon it's canada's fault

  • @MrLittlelennon Florence is the reason I'm proud to be British ;)

  • @MrLittlelennon Because America is the land of opportunities and anyone can succeed, even if they're not good at all. In Britain, they do things the old way, and the quality is more appreciated. I don't say they don't have crappy artists as well, but in America there are more :)

  • @RowlingPotter True dat. :) If people like Cher Lloyd would just leave the charts forever, we'd be set! :L

  • @MrLittlelennon ´Cause you americans havent any music taste :) Sorry, but its true...

  • @spanky2200 Come on now. How about The White Stripes, Arcade Fire, The Black Keys, Beirut, The Kills, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Walkmen, Cold War Kids, Modest Mouse, The Strokes, Heartless Bastards, Fleet Foxes, Devotchka, The Blues, Rock, Soul, Funk, Hip Hop, etc.

  • @3Storm Yeah!!!

  • @spanky2200 - Wow! Stating that Americans haven't any musical taste is like saying all people who wear blue jeans have poor fashion sense. Either statement is a vague generalization. I am an American and I never really think of the nationality or culture of a music before deciding if I like it. The fact is that North American music and Great Britain music styles have been playing off each other and influencing each other for generations. I love a wide variety of music from a variety of places.

  • @spanky2200 Says the guy on a video with an American band and a singer with an American singing style in a tribute to an American singer-songwriter.

  • @spanky2200 Don't stereotype...no one can speak for ALL Americans.

  • @spanky2200 Taste is an opinion, and the statement you made is an opinion. Americans do have music taste, and some don't just like any other country, I'm sure in your country they play mainstream American music

  • @spanky2200 Ignorant statements like these indicate that the people from your culture don't have any taste whatsoever. Oops! I apologize...as I know better than to make extremely general statements about an entire culture. (Don't be ridiculous and inflammatory, Spanky the Troll.)

  • @spanky2200 I went to your channel and saw that you like Michael Jackson. Wait a second... wasn't Michael... American? Fail.

  • @spanky2200 And by the way, Buddy Holly = American

  • @spanky2200 this American does :)

  • @spanky2200 Im an American who's ancestors traveled alot, so im basically everything in Europe except for Portugese and Spanish. And you know what? My favorites Florence + the Machine, Kt Tunstall, Ellie Goulding And I like some American people too. Ever heard of Carrie Underwood? American. Michael Jackson? American. Katy Perry? American.

  • @MrLittlelennon We have Fiest! Canadian version of Florence!

  • @SuperSnazzyPants1 - I like Fiest, but i would not compare her to Florence. I think their writing and vocals are different styles.

  • @MrLittlelennon CHILL OUT! Bieber isn't ours, he's Canada's! Canada's just trying to throw him on us!

  • @MrLittlelennon

Canada has Rush, which I quite decent. But you also have Nickelback lolololololololololololol

  • @MrLittlelennon LOL I feel your pain!. At least we can still listen to her and not him by choice!

  • @MrLittlelennon: LOLOLOLOL! I know...it's like the UK has it all figured out when it comes to music and the USA knows jack shit :-D

  • @MrLittlelennon well.

did you notice , bieber become big just like that , he didnt have to work for it.

Now look at Florence, she started out playing in pubs , she didnt do it because she wanted to be famous, she did it because of her passion for music.

She showed a commitment others would not show.

This is why you dont get people like Florence Welch <3

  • @MrLittlelennon priceless comment!

  • @MrLittlelennon Are you Canadian? Because Bieber is Canadian so technically Americans don't have to lay claim to him. We are however stuck with Rebecca Black though... Dammit! There goes my silver lining.

  • Always great! It ain't dead yet!

  • I want to respect her but it feels like she's feasting on Amy Winehouse's corpse.

  • @nixongill It's a cover of a Buddy Holly track. Buddy was doing Amy's style way before Amy was even born.

  • 3 26 she's just so damn cute!

  • that genre of this song?

  • Welcome to México Florence :D !

  • I'd still like to see her naked.

  • @nixongill your a fucking retard god damn it GIVE HERE RESPECT SHES THE BEST PERSON ON EARTH ASS HOLE

  • she isn't a goddess or an angel, nor is she a demon. her voice isn't amazing or horrible and by no means between. her hair is great and at the same time horrible. worship her and hate her. forget her, acknowledge her. but by no means think that any of these words are true, false or fact. they are opinion. don't say shes the best because she may be the worse, don't scream you love her because you probably don't. florence is a human being. she sings you like her others dont. thats all.

  • *gawcckk*... gasping for air...

Please. I was going to rock concerts before the term was defined.

Have I NEVER heard of the "Dead," you query? Apologies. The DEAD's cover of NFA is da bomb...

    You da boss, boss.

  • she sounds like janis joplin :)

  • @jeffkarcher0829 but Florence is a MILLION TIMES more attractive & got a unique mystical & corky style to her music thats unlike any other!! :D

  • I love the Grateful Dead cover of this song, but Florence really puts her heart and soul into it. I like how she made it her own song.

  • i like florence cause she so true to herself. shes not gonna do something outlandish just becuase most pop (horrid) singers do that and get all the money. shes....pure

  • Awesome Band

  • Nice job. I'd be willing to bet this is the most covered rock song ever. Just see how many are on Youtube. Buddy Holly was touched by the rock gods.

  • I'm gonna dress up as a Florence skeleton for Halloween. Who's with me?

  • Love it!

  • So much soul and power....yet her approach is so delicate. Freakin Unbelievable!

  • Thumbs up if you think Florence & Adele should do a track together!

  • @meedy92 I completely agree!! Two fantastic and skilful artist

  • I couldnt get more in a modern cover than cracking voice and minor notes. Thank you very much.

  • I like it, but it's very different from the original... even the melody seems different.

  • @ModifiedEvelyn

A Gothic, glitter-eyed Barbarella with an improbably effective soupçon of Sarah Ferguson, who thinks she might have OCD, ADD — “and dyspraxia. I mean, I couldn’t tell you if that wall is 5ft or 50ft away. Don’t know, don’t care”. (Given that she doesn’t care, you don’t point out that the inability to judge distance is dysmetria). I have read this on the sunday times......

  • What a nice video

  • Benissima!!

  • Such a great artist!

  • her voice sounds so rock and roll in this song, love it!

  • Easily, the best cover of this Holly classic.

Rolling Stones? Too harsh for female ears... sorry, boys.

  • @buddynme Have you EVER heard of the Grateful Dead??

  • Comment removed

  • Aha... I like this :)

  • Hey that poet for hire is my buddy Matt! Wow, I know what it means to miss New Orleans.

  • @beatlerock100

I NOTICED THAT TOO :D "and and towards the sky i offer iiiiiiiiiiiiit!" then the piano kicks in :D

    we are true fans

  • I just love when she looks like a mexican catrina, lovely!

  • She and her music both remind me of Alice in Wonderland for some reason.

  • is it jus me or does really look like Princess Diana

  • I love it!

  • Tribute? more like a big smack in the face, this was unbelievably shit

  • @MrSean677 I love BH and I think you're kinda harsh. This is a cool video and I like hearing some different takes.
