@axltyler Davy branched off from his original band, picked up 2 super boring middle aged studio musicians, and got mixed up with Peter Frampton who overproduced the hell out of his album. Since then he picked up a bunch of equipment sponsors so he started using modern amps and pedals and lost his vintage sound. Its a shame I would have liked to see him follow a Derek Trucks type career path as opposed to trying to go mainstream.
"and if i ever get my hands on him, doin time in the county for em" hes referring to the county jail not the county farm lol. the songs about his woman messing around "across town" and leaving him, and hes telling her to come on home.

jimi hendrix already burned his guitar onstage, no blues player can top that. good playing is not good enough, unless it's for obscurity or to be in the jazz world. they are good and can make a living but beyond that it doesn't make impress me beyond watching them for 10 bucks if i hear about them.
I absolutly love them. BTW, that looks a whole lot like an SRV sig strat without the origional pickguard to me. Bringin' the blues back once again!!!!!
cool, i disagree i think it's going to be niche fans who seek it out from now to forever not only with good blues but the majority of good music but it would be nice if it happens
yea good music that is not cliche always has a cult following, toom much mainstreet crap, I know the sound guy for BDS! Its good to see guys that are my generation who bring so much mopre to the table. Talent beyond words. They need one more rythum guitar and a harp player then they would be insane!!
I found these guys quite by accident. I was just channel surfing and saw them playing on Jimmy Kimmell Live. At first I thought Jonny Lang had come out with a new album. I was very pleased to find a new and awesome talent! You can hear their influences in their music: Clapton, Hendrix, SRV. It took me about 15 minutes to buy their CD online and I can't wait to get it! I hope they play in New England some time soon. I'd love to see them play live.
Yeah, man. That's the stuff!! I heard this song for the first time just the other day on an Atlanta GA radio station. At first I thought it was maybe Robin Trower or some other band from the 70's that I had missed. But when I heard this was a new English rock band I said to myself "real rock-n-roll is back. Thank God!"
Thank you Backdoor Slam. Please come to Atlanta and New Orleans to play a gig very soon. Thanks for the post.
New wave? I respectfully disagree. BDS reminds me more of Gary More or Robin Trower than they do The Cars or even old Tom Petty. To me they sound more like a straight forward English blues/rock band. However, I must admit that I haven't had a chance to hear a lot of BDS's music yet, so I can't really say for sure. I'm just happy to hear the real thing again. You can bet your boots I'll be going to see them the next time they are in Atlanta or New Orleans.
From there album they have some old sounding stuff, but deffinately some new sounding stuff. I think Davy can sound like SRV at time and i consider that new wave blues. With all respect, i dont mean to be rude!
You're not being rude at all. You probably know better than I since I still have not bought the album yet.(Mardi Gras drained my funds) I'll buy the CD today. After I listen to it I'll let you know what I think. If you're right it would be an interesting sounding album. Whatever "sound" BDS is shooting for, it seems to be working for them.
Whatever you say lol. I just wonder who verifies and made all of these classifications anyway.
I here rock and roll, and blues. STV, new wave blues? what does that even mean exactly?I mean I was hearing that same kind of playing many years before SRV from guys like Johnny Winter. Was he "new wave" and we just weren't told at the time? ^-^ I still hera peole tell me Sabbath was metal when we call it rock n roll (like Ozzy does) ok in the kid's minds it's meatl . whetever turns yer crank. ;o)
The thing that gets to me is when new blues artists (who in the case of BDS are incredibly talented...well at least on guitar) come along they're slammed by people who think the blues is the 3 Kings and maybe SRV. Anybody else, to them, is a hack. I've even read comments where people say Joe Bonamassa can't play for shit. Shows you how much they know about music. This isn't new wave blues, it's blues. Sit back and enjoy the groove.
Well said. I have a classmate and another friend who have played (and still do) all over the world with some really big names and they really are not famliar with "new wave blues" either. ;o)
Not saying it doesn't exist just , more people, than just myself don't know what it is, or where that term even came from.
I don't get bent outa shape over other people calling my rock metal so no worries here. ^_^
I am from the Isle of man and seen these guys with the who and at the Gaiety, My dad raved on about them as i have lived away for years and boy oh boy am i glad i listened to my dad, these guys are the best thing since Hendrix . Maggie Rough proudly from the Isle of Man
Boy oh boy - I'm a 44 yr old blues/rock fan, and I ain't heard any new young band in the last decade at least who come anywhere near these guys. You've reminded me how enthusiastic I am (was) in the genre - good luck and I'll be watching you closely!
Saw them at HOB on sat they opened for Root...great set...Im an instant fan...there cd rocks even better live...this kid knows how to play the guitar..these guys are gonna go a long way
Where do I begin? The vocalist/guitarist has top-notch guitar skills and a voice to match, the bass player is serving up some cool Jack Bruce-inspired bass lines, and the drummer has a jazzy feel that definitely conjures up thoughts of Ginger Baker. I only just found out about you five minutes ago, and I'm already a fan! I'm a blues lover to the core, and I know good stuff when I hear it!
Man you are AWESOME!! the song is great...!! :))
