@BrianWilliamGreen Just an update, a couple of my uncles were discussing it over the superbowl. It's currently being used as storage, so some parts have been locked off.
Does anyone know how to get in touch with the current owner? I have a couple questions I would like to ask them regarding the mills situation. Thanks.
Thanks for the great video. I went down to the site this past Saturday morning and shot exterior photos. Frankly, alone, I did not feel like venturing inside, the town has a rough edge to it. I have followed the threads about the party interested in (possibly) acquiring the property. Might as well plan on buying up and buying out the town, and even then I agree--it is one risky location.
Just like I remember it! I'v been inside. Creepyist building I have everr seen!
I was on vacation and we saw the tall chimney we thought was an insinerator at the time, in the distance of the valley. We serched to find it for alonggg time and finaly realized it wasn't in the the woods, it was at the end of the road!
@aasimmons3 from what i understand its a old lady whos family owns the company it used to be or whatever and shes not looking to do anything with it from what ive been told.
@BrianWilliamGreen It's actually an old man who plans to sell the property to lakefront developers. Or thats his plan anyway. No one wants it because it's below the dam instead of above it, and crime/forclosure in the mill village is so high. The Newry Historical Society has offered to buy it, but he wants over 2 mil., since he thinks that's what the property is worth.
@graphikLion no problem if you ever need to talk about it drop me your number and i can go into detail about the place i know it like the back of my hand every floor.
the population of newry? well, actually, that's perfect, as i want to "get away from it all" anyway. who needs to see people? lol. i had done some research into restoring decommissioned military bases and park structures previously, and would love to try to refurb a historic site like newby. then you won't have to be 'trespassing'....you'll be invited!
@graphikLion not so much the population its just the fact that they really dont want it messed with, i wanted to restore it to live in, i love the place but unless ur really wealthy i dont think u will have their price nor be able to afford to fix it the water and fire damage is a bit intense.
excellent video. just curious...how do you know newry is "private property"? the reason i ask is, i've always wantd to restore something like this for public/live in use. insights?

I have to say it's in decent shape for 36 years of abandonment.

@lifewontwait89 thats a shame it would be cool if it was made into loft appartments.
BrianWilliamGreen 3 months ago
@BrianWilliamGreen It's definitely too far gone for apartments and the old mill village has too much crime for anyone to want to live there anyway.
