Aside from being an incredible athlete, Shearer was also a just a great bloke and an absolute role model. He was someone I looked up to as a teenager, and I'll be telling my kids all about him one day.

I never regret for a minute suppourting newcastle. When all the other kids in ireland were suppourting Liverpool, Utd and Arsenal i stuck with the magpies through 4 hard years in the old division 2. Its a passion that you never lose and i never will.

@thetoon99 Well it sounds like the fee for Erdinc (£6.5m) is all agreed, but he doesn't seem all that keen.

I've been spot on so far with my predictions that Given and N'Zogbia would go to Villa, but less certain on Toon signings, I guess it's harder with your own team.

For what it's worth I think we'll get Upson on a free, Erdinc will join and be offered the no.9 as incentive and a last ditch loan offer for Sturridge will fail. Sorry to be a pessimist.
