The question we need to ask is, "How does this happen?" What is the political process? and then, "How can we tweak the process so that these kinds of things do not get out of hand". Instead of saying the government sucks, ask how can we improve it. I would suggest a more mathematically sophisticated voting system like IRV or Borda.

It's simple, really. If a restaurant doesn't sell something without trans fat, eat somewhere that does. If the majority of people don't want to eat trans fat, the market will go that way. If they don't tell you what's in the food, don't buy it. The restaurant will either start telling people what's in the food, or fail. Now, if the state would stop sticking it's hand in the market, then some of these actions and reactions could take place.
That's such crap. By that reasoning Asbestos, DDT, Agent Orange, and Heroine would still be legal because those "market forces" would have worked themselves out. If a restaurant want's a business license, then the least they can do is tell their potential customers what they use in their food. If they don't want to, then that license should be revoked.
Who the hell would want to ban outdoor grilling (and the answer probably isn't PETA, because they tell me there's some vegetarian dishes you can make on a grill that aren't just artificial meat)? Indoor grilling is a much greater fire hazard and if the smoke or fumes they're probably much worse confined in doors.

Perhaps they knew that these things would come to pass and reworking the specific wording of the Constitution when those things finally did come around might prove to be far more difficult than they should be. I’m not for adultery for it destroys families and threatens health but I see it as lawyers and states looking to make a buck. There’s an entire genre that lives off of discourse. The question we need to ask is, "How does this happen?" What is the political process? and then, "How can we tweak the process so that these kinds of things do not get out of hand". It's simple, really. If a restaurant doesn't sell something without trans fat, eat somewhere that does. If the majority of people don't want to eat trans fat, the market will go that way. If they don't tell you what's in the food, don't buy it. The restaurant will either start telling people what's in the food, or fail. Now, if the state would stop sticking it's hand in the market, then some of these actions and reactions could take place.

Who the hell would want to ban outdoor grilling (and the answer probably isn't PETA, because they tell me there's some vegetarian dishes you can make on a grill that aren't just artificial meat)? Indoor grilling is a much greater fire hazard and if the smoke or fumes they're probably much worse confined in doors.

I've never thought, however, that I had a right to tell a restaurant owner how to operate His Own Restaurant.
You see, there is a higher moral principle here: No one has a right to force others to do things a certain way.

The US Constitution is, and was with its inception, a very flawed document and it was so bc it was written by ppl in a day & age when things are much different than they are today, although not entirely different. While I have great respect for Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Rush, among others, unless you were a while male landowner when it was written you had no rights, even though the wording of the Constitution implied that you did.

Industries, & often individual companies, businesses, as well as their owners, etc., that oversee certain things, specific things, provide certain services, etc., care about money; your health, my health, and the health of planet Earth be damned!! And while I believe that banning someone from smoking in their own home is ridiculous & stupid, banning ppl from smoking in certain places is a good thing!

The founding fathers are rolling in their graves. They should add a constitutional amendment that states: "An individual citizen is the sole owner of his or her own body and therefore has the right to choose what they put in their own body, so long as they accept the repercussions of their choices. No individual, or group of individuals, owns the bodies of others, therefore no law shall pass which restricts the sale or purchase of food, or medicine to the public."
