ahh you go to BYU?! Thats soo hard to get into! LUCKY! haha, I absolutly agree with you! This church is THE ONLY true church! Being mormon is the best way to go honestly! Props to you! :)
And my brother is going on a mission becuase he wants to. If you love something enough then you will sacrifice alot for it. thats what he is doing. So theres a different perspective! He loves the church and that is why he is serving!
Good job on beating around the bush on that one. You never addressed the cartoon at all, just jumped around blaming youtube for giving the LDS a bad rep.
I'm actually dating a cute Mormon girl right now. I showed her the original cartoon video, and she told me that nothing in it was wrong.
I then wrote down the cartoon's information, took it to her PRESIDENT, and asked HIM if it was correct, and he said, "Yes."
Explain why you're book saids being black is curse. How come you guys dont show that to the blacks and latinos you teach in the street? Even if you dont teach it, guess what, its still in your book.
1.[21] And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them.
... you're right...the most bogus ones are from the mormon church..SEE on this site and decide for yourself: "DNA vs.THE BOOK OF MORMON"..SEE how scientists including a former mormon bishop/ microbilogist ADMIT that the book of mormon CANNOT be a TRUE religious OR historical document in spite of the academic dishonesty of the FARMS institute at BYU...SEE also "THE LOST BOOK OF ABRAHAM" (full video) a short award winning documentary exposing yet another forgery of joseph smith ..
I'm glad for you that you are happy with your life and religion. Maybe you should read more science and non-mormon books and be even happier about that knowledge. Religion should be a personal matter and not done the LDS mormon insisting way going on about JS, BoM and true church on earth but accepting that some people will never believe that maybe because it is as fantastic as other religious stuff? Have you ever thought of that? Most people can identify well what's incorrect on YouTube.
I have 57 books in the past 2 years. I have not met my goals but I have done my best. I love to read and a read plenty of science, history and non mormon books. You made it sound as though mormons are not an educated people. Obtaining secular education is a commandment from the Lord. Whatever Intelligence we obtain in this life will carry on with us in the life to come. You should look up BYU's curriculum and credentials. As for your opinion on the mormon way, well...thats just your opinion.
so true right??? wow i'm always surprised about how reliable people think youtube is when ANYONE (us included) can post whatever they want... kinda cool tho... we can connect with real people from all over the world and talk with ones we would otherwise never encounter.
honestly - how many people would ever randomly stop and talk to a mormon? even if they really wanted to? and even if they did, bringing up anothers' thoughts on the afterlife and salvation could be a little awkward..
Reaserch with faith and always put trust in prayer.
Ive never been 100% SURE ABOUT ANYTHING IN MY LIFE.
Ive been exposed to ALOT of good and bad things , and ive come close to rock bottom a few times, But the one thing that I know to be 100% sure about is prayer. I dont know my faith very well, but what i have is testamony.
I believe there is a god, I believe in Jesus to forive sins, and the Holy ghost to guide me.
Hey thank you for your testimony. I love to hear people that are not afraid to put their testimony out there. Gaining knowledge about the existence of God is a a sacred thing that can not be described, it is personal and is not clearly understood by those who have not experienced it. I don't let anyone try to take away the things I know to be true and the things that being thrue happiness in my life. I know Christ died for me and I know He lives. He lives.
Do you have any proof that the video you're referencing is untrue an any way? If you have some valid points, you should discuss them. Otherwise all you're saying is words that don't mean anything. Unless there's proof or at least some semblance of proof, how can you defend it? I was born and raised in Utah as an LDS member. No matter how much I tried, I never got a testimony of the Church's truth because there were too many doctrinal contradictions. Not trying to start a fight, just a discussion
I don't argue religion, not because i can't but because i have found it brings a bad spirit. All I say is why can't we as a people allow others to believe what they want. I don't tear down or talk down other religions. I see things differently than you. That's okay. What I don't like is people making false accusations and twisting words for negative results. The LDS church has make great contributions to religion and the world. I have found mormonism to be the most correct religion on earth.
I agree that people should be able to practice whatever they believe. That wasn't my point. My point is that LDS people don't like to discuss, (not argue) their religion. You say that you don't put down other religions yet I think it's a pretty big insult to say things like "most correct" which we all know is LDS PC talk for their old saying "One true Church". This instills a sense in the LDS culture of disrespect for non-Mormons. If you don't want to discuss anything, then I guess that's all.
It's been my experience that the majority of guys that go on missions do it because they feel pressure to do so. And for those that don't feel pressure, The majority of those guys do it because there's no question in their mind about going or not going because a mission is used as blackmail. If you don't go on a mission, you don't receive blessings from God, you don't enter the Temple, you aren't accepted in LDS society anymore.
tiller - My point was that LDS like to discuss their religion and do discuss their religion.
I served a mission, as did 3 of my brothers. I felt no pressure to go on a mission.
I also taught at the BYU Missionary Training Center and taught thousands of future missionaries. I can tell you from personal interaction with thousands of missionaries that they go because they want to go; they want to share what they know to be true.
In case you haven't noticed, standards for missions have gone up. Why would they want to pressure people that don't want to go? (my older brother is going into the airforce, rather than the mission field, and everyone is proud rather than horribly dissapointed that their attempt to force him to go on his mission has failed, lol)
Mormons eating babies? Have yet to see that one.

If LDS people don't like to discuss their religion, why do thousands devote two years of their lives to discussing their religion full-time?
