I admit. Seeing my father smoke, encouraged me to smoke at 18. I know, I was old enough to make my own choices, but this is all I knew. Now I am alot older, I quit, thinking, "Would I like to see my children smoking?"
Whilst I do believe what this video represents, in my life with the horrible things i have done, I never learnt that from my parents....I had the most wonderful upbringing and my mother was amazing, and my father is a very successful and driven man. If anything, I should be working full time with a house and car etc....nope, i am nearly 33 with no job, no car, and struggling to see or do anything for/with my own son....i wish i was more like my father...but i know I have my mothers strength tho.
Im adopted coz my mum was a achoholic and that effected my brain coz she drank whilst i was in her tummy and it has a effect on me i cant learn that fast i need help to explain stuf over and over again till i get it right but my adopted family are great loving caring and help me alot they foster and i love kids i realy do want to be a foster care worker one day or just help kids like my perents have done for me =)
my mother is a chronic alcoholic who stole money from me and the rest of my family to drink, i her son have NEVER EVER wanted to drink im 16, although im not 'mister popular' at school i still go to peoples house parties, i was drinking at a house parties and just pictured my mum, this stopped me drinking there and then, i guess cannabis isnt much better and in some respects its worse but im NEVER fucking ending up like her, i will gladly drown the myself the day i start acting like her

@QuantumQuacks That is shit. I went through a life like this and I didn't know that it wasn't good until seventh grade. From my toddler years to my preteen years I was taught that daily beatings were normal. I was taught that blondes (and males) were superior because they were 'Aryan Angels' as my bio-father put it.
Most of the time that kids do bad behavior like this is because they see other adults doing it and getting away with it. Most won't learn that it's wrong until it's too late.
Also there are a couple people i know that were abused as children and pretty much had horrible parents, they basically did the complete opposite of what there parents were like, If there is one thing i know about the world you cant twist anything to prove your point, i do agree good parenting is better than bad (obviously)
sure this can be bad, but regardless of parenting there will be bad people and good people. Parents are a big influence in a childs behavior (more so towards how they parent themselves i feel) but there are also A LOT more influences Friends, media, i would probably rank those higher on the scale, i lost touche with my parents when i was in middle school and from then on its been my friends and what i see all people do that has influenced me.

Adults are products of the environment they have experienced, a persons ideology is based on what they have experienced in life up until that particular time in life. In just the past 9 weeks, 3 great, vibrant teenage boys were each killed while driving after they had been drinking. Don't become a statistic - Have a designated driver set up in advance. Call a friend. Call anyone that is sober and can get you home alive. It's not worth the risk of losing your life or killing some...one else. Eating disorders would have been a good "influential matter" to include. Many would be surprised to find out how many victims learned their "tricks" from their own parents. Lauren Greenfield did a beautiful project that documented the lives of four women who had eating disorders. One said her daughter (age 4, I think) was already dieting b/c she hated her body.

I think this video is great. It not only shows the ramification of actions, but the ramifications of those who see the acts being done. On a personal note: the good habits I've learned, and follow were all from my parents examples. However, that also goes for the bad ones. I think that society has little to no impact on the fundamental aspects of a persons life, however, society may shape the opinions of human behavior. At a certain point every human makes a choice on what they want to become.

I agree that children shouldn't grow up in violent homes, but PSAs are notorious for over dramatizing everything. I'm not a chain smoker though my mother is. I've never touched crack or any other drug in spite of my father. Kids are much more receptive than older people, hence they pick up entire languages with ease. If the parents beat the shit out of each other then fuck every night, there may be a future 10 most wanted case out there. Smoking, however, does not a future Ted Bundy make

@QuantumQuacks That is shit. I went through a life like this and I didn't know that it wasn't good until seventh grade. From my toddler years to my preteen years I was taught that daily beatings were normal. I was taught that blondes (and males) were superior because they were 'Aryan Angels' as my bio-father put it.
Most of the time that kids do bad behavior like this is because they see other adults doing it and getting away with it. Most won't learn that it's wrong until it's too late.

sure this can be bad, but regardless of parenting there will be bad people and good people. Parents are a big influence in a childs behavior (more so towards how they parent themselves i feel) but there are also A LOT more influences Friends, media, i would probably rank those higher on the scale, i lost touche with my parents when i was in middle school and from then on its been my friends and what i see all people do that has influenced me.

Adults are products of the environment they have experienced, a persons ideology is based on what they have experienced in life up until that particular time in life. Bad experiences can be changed into something more positive if the person is willing to accept a positive change.

In just the past 9 weeks, 3 great, vibrant teenage boys were each killed while driving after they had been drinking. Don't become a statistic - Have a designated driver set up in advance. Call a friend. Call anyone that is sober and can get you home alive. It's not worth the risk of losing your life or killing some...one else. @cbrsmom - Thanks. I figured it was one or the other, but being an anoretic/bulimic myself, my mind tends to lean towards what I know. Eating disorders would have been a good "influential matter" to include. Many would be surprised to find out how many victims learned their "tricks" from their own parents. Lauren Greenfield did a beautiful project that documented the lives of four women who had eating disorders. One said her daughter (age 4, I think) was already dieting b/c she hated her body.

@hyladams your welcome and i totally agree with you its also behaviours learned from sisters too. my oldest neice has an eating disorder and her youngest sister started doing the same things and when taken to find out why she said cause she wanted to be as thin as her sister. my neices are 17 and 12.

@cbrsmom - That is a shame :( I wish the best of luck for both of your neices; I was actually discharged from an inpatient program just yesterday and it was ROUGH. I hope that they learn to love themselves and never get in a position like IP.

I think this video is great. It not only shows the ramification of actions, but the ramifications of those who see the acts being done. On a personal note: the good habits I've learned, and follow were all from my parents examples. However, that also goes for the bad ones. I think that society has little to no impact on the fundamental aspects of a persons life, however, society may shape the opinions of human behavior. At a certain point every human makes a choice on what they want to become.
