@NeonTiger24 She posted on the Rufus Wainwright message board after hearing this song - she got her picture taken with Rufus and posted it. If I remember correctly, she was insanely thrilled about her mention in the song (I'm sure it made up for waiting for hours in the rain)!
What is the source that this song is about Brandon? My favourite part of this song is when he says that he wants to go to that antique shop when its open.. Too funny, and best opening line ever for a funny sing.
@ShiBluWolf I very much like the killers and Brandon Flowers, but I don't think Brandon is the brains behind the band. I mean, he even said so himself that he didn't write Mr. Brightside, one of their greatest songs.
@Southparknscrubs Actually he co-wrote it with Dave (guitarists), and Mr. Brightside is a great song for a first album but let's not forget other masterpieces like 'All These Things I've Done' 'When You Were Young' & 'Dustland Fairytale' & 'Spaceman' and so many more... The killers as a band are musical geniuses, didn't mean to cast anyone out! they're all amazing musicians!
"Wainwright has stated in numerous interviews that it was inspired by their first meeting in a bar in Tulsa, Oklahoma. According to Wainwright, Flowers was "very flattered and somewhat bashful" about this tribute"
@pinballwizard8394 yes, rufus is openly gay, and i highly doubt he's tasted brandon. BF was asked in an interview what he thought the potato chips lyric meant and he said "wishful thinking". so, i can derive from that that nothing happened between them. assuming of course that i would like to believe him... ;)
This is funny! And pretty random, this guy must be pretty die hard fan of brando, or brando must have left a great impression for him to write a song for/about brandon :)
Ya'll are all gayer than a two dollar bill.

Cause Brando was so cute that Rufus couldn't resist writing a song about him. That's what I would do :P

question.. when he refers to the white suit since you know who... who is he talking about? you is the "you know who" he is talking about?
LolitaSkinny 2 years ago
You know, I've been wondering that. Maybe like Jesus? No clue :P
traintoNYC 2 years ago 2
@traintoNYC - might be the
"gay messiah" referring back to his older song? " that saviour i have mentioned may be you" ???
just a thought
chetne 1 year ago
@traintoNYC Yeah. It's Jesus. Notice the savior line directly after that?

DOMINOS233 2 years ago 2
you taste of potato chips in the morning...
has he tasted brandon? O_o awkward...
and one more question, is this dude gay or anything? cause that's kind of weird lyrics for a guy to write about a guy...
pinballwizard8394 2 years ago
They're not weird. And I'm not sure if Rufus is gay or not.
traintoNYC 2 years ago
@traintoNYC; I do, honestly, believe that Rufus is a homosexual.

You're probably right.

Rufus is gay.
Brandon is straight.
hah

yeah i don't get why that got two thumbs down... but ok :P
pinballwizard8394 2 years ago
Maybe because you said the lyrics were awkward for a guy to write about another guy.

well, they sorta are in my opinion, thats all :)
