He confederate flag is not a symbol of racism as much as the American flag is a symbol of mass genocide. It's heritage. And you can kiss my ass before I will believe that me flying my heritage is me being racist. I don't hate black people. I jut hate people who act like they are gangsters. @ZackAttack261 The Confederacy fired on an unarmed U.S. supply ship, then on a U.S. fort. That's starting a war in my book. Also, if you actually look at the letters Confederate soldiers wrote you see that the vast majority of them fought either directly for slavery or for the states, which seceded because of Lincoln's desire to limit the spread of slavery. Your history is just plain wrong.

The Confederate flag is a symbol of treason and racism. We would never display a swastika to honor Nazis; we should never display a Confederate flag to honor Confederate soldiers.

The real confederate flag looks more like the state of texas flag. Red and white bars and field of blue with star representing the confederate states. It amazes me , people who holler about their rights want to turn around and take away some one else rights. The funny part is there were thousands of blacks who fought on the confederate side, hows that for Political Incorrectness.

Its simple. There is no constitutional or common law right not to be offended. Why? Because there is no measurable damage done to a person due to "offence" and there is no way that the government or the courts can protect you from being offended. If I say that you simple being "offends me", how can we protect me from offence short of hiding or killing you?

As children we are told if someone says something nasty to you, just IGNORE THEM!! The advice is no less true for adults.

Slavery was practiced in America for 87 years. Slavery was practiced in the CSA for 4 years. Which flag really symbolizes slavery? Clearly that's not the relevant issue at hand regarding this flag. I think this situation stems from a great deal of ignorance, misinformation, and lack of understanding. Unfortunately, hate groups have used and exploited the flag for their purposes, and the damage has stuck. The social construction of the negativity of this flag still stands unfortunately.

If the Confederate flag is racist and banned because slavery then the American should be banned for the exact same reasons. Lincold freed the slaves in the CSA, which he had no power to do so, but didnt free the slaves in the north?WTF! Learn your history. There were many free blacks in the south who owned homes, businesses and yes black slaves.

As well the confederate flag may be a pro slavery symbol in your opinion others disagree. I believe tha it is in how it is presented. The Confederate Battle flag can be presented as a hate symbol by some and heritage by others. Kind of like the word Nigger. It is how the word is used.

The reason that slave ships didn't fly the Confederate flag is that the international slave trade in the U.S. was outlawed in 1808, 53 years before the flag was created. Approximately 25% of Southern households owned slaves, not 5%. Finally, the myth of the black Confederate soldier is precisely that--- a myth. There were black slave laborers forced to serve the Confederate army, but they weren't considered soldiers.

The confederate battle flag is just as much a part of southern heritage as african american contributions to southern heritage that we all love so much, Bar-B-Que, Blues music, Gospel, Jazz, etc. what people need to realize is that the rebel flag is intertwined with the culture and history of the land, you might as well try get rid of Whole hog cookouts or down home music. It simply can not, and will not be removed. Also i believe that America's secessionist backbone should forever be preserved
