  • good performance the sound was very clear

  • the greatest song ever made and sung by one of the best voices in music

  • to my brother, who past away far too young. And yes, sometimes he was too heavy for me to carry him...I miss you, never thought you'd leave so soon.....,love,your sister

  • Wonderful song & message. How can anyone dislike this?

  • My brother was diagnosed with cancer and his wish was to tour europe on a motorbike , so i baught a bike and took my test at age 59 and together we toured europe for 3 weeks this song says it all.

  • @hdmi46 Im so sorry to hear that, how is he doing?

  • It's a long long road from which there is no return. So very true.

  • Brilliant Song.....

  • I love this song..I love your voice..1 powerful song. I cry to this song.

  • @lindaw26 I cry every time every time too. My little Brother is still alive , hope we will talk again again sometime! Thanks You All!

  • Please come back to our real family Parker.

  • 509 and 1 noob dislikes

  • the clothes, the look SO 70s...the song timeless...

  • I know they're singing a really beautiful, poignant song but all I can do is lust after Terry!!!

  • hiya bin so geil

  • I see 1 person must of thought it meant dis-I-like...

  • LOVE Allan Clarke, love his voice, his breathing, his phrasing, his control... But lord he was an arrogant bugger too, wasn't he?! Never mind, guess he had a quite a bit to be arrogant about!

  • ESTA NO ES UNA SIMPLE ROLA ES UNA CANSION ECHA ALA MEDIDA DE TODOS AQUELLOS QUE SON MAS LENTOS PERO AL FINAL SON NUESTROS CARNALES Y NO PESAS POR QUE SON NUESTROS HERMANOS .! JAH BLESS

  • Beautiful sung

  • fantastic voice control !

  • The people who say here that, those were the years when music was music. You got that right! You could really listen to this and really enjoyed it. Now days you just have to select certain music to listen and really is not that much you can get. So sad and disrespectful to music. That is my point of view.

  • dedicated to my late brother Wesley...R.I.P miss you xoxoxoxo

  • Wow, he can sing and play the harmonica at the same time!

  • @CMHKD That is Terry Sylvester singing while he plays - Allan Clarke the absalute best!!!

  • this is music, not noise

  • Why is Tony Hicks playing Bass here?

  • @belliottx Bernie Calvert the usual bass player is on piano.

  • Bei dem Lied kommen einfach nur schöne Erinnerungen in mir hoch!

  • what a great fucking song.....first heard it on the miller lite commericals back, bloody hell i forgot ha ..

  • GEWELDIG GEWELDIG....dit nummer verveelt nooit....en voert me steeds weer terug naar mijn tienerjaren....nostalgie....

  • This isn't the song that makesme cry when someone of my generation or younger dies. It's the Air that I Breathe. That's what makes me cry when a young man dies. and I'm crying for Dan Wheldon tonight.

  • These guys would never stand a chance now-a-days. The music is great, but the looks aren't there. And that is SAD. Music should never be about looks.

  • Elton John plays piano on the original studio version.

  • damn...buffalo bill has an AMAZING voice

  • thanks for all ,danke euch allen die ihr es möglich macht daß unsere jugendzeit nicht im universum verschwindet, erinnerungen die das leben lebenswert machen durch solch wundervolle musik....

  • Gawd, EVERYONE had a perm in 1975!!!

  • what a great song................

  • The singer looks like Colin mochrie

  • Who is this man in the beginning with the pink shirt? I just remember Benny Hill made jokes about him like "Roy Orbison´s new musical bum!" "What?.. New music ALBum!" etc. :)

  • WHAT A VOICE!

  • I'm not a musician but... What a nice drummer is Bobby!! What a nice singer is Allan!! This song makes me cry. The only thing I would like to happen about the Hollies, was a return of Graham Nash to the band. AMAZING performance!! Greetings from Mexico. Sorry my bad english

  • @VoyeurRex

Thats is a very nice comment . I love the song too - since my childhood - now I am 52

    greetings from germany

  • It gives so many covers from this fantastic song. No other group or singer did it in a BETTER way then the Hollies. For many guys - this is the best song that ever were released. No chance to make it better.

  • I want my brothers play this wen I die

  • @Ebks11357k, he will, this song is uncomparable. Intensive, perfection in melody like a Bee Gees song, marvelous voice...

  • i was 14 years old ,-it was a fine time

  • LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this. Tears of joy!

  • Allan Clarke appears to be actually singing, but why is his voice still coming through at the same time he's playing the harmonica at the end. Why are there no mics on the drums? Where is the keyboard/piano player and the orchestra? Why does Tony Hicks always appear to not really be singing? The regular bass player is absent.

  • @7188181 Terry Sylvester, the HOT guy in white, sings while Allan plays the harmonica.

  • Never seen 319 likes to 0 (!!!) dislikes before!

  • stevewilson20 Me also. 70ths music had more message, today music has more electronic ways with less message.

    regards from southern bavaria, Reinhard

  • 1975 was a great year for me :)

  • A lot of great popular songs/groups had/use vocal harmonies. Compelling.

  • How many times can I vote LIKE? One of the top 10 songs of the 20th Century... I don't know what the others might be offhand but I know this is one of them!

  • famosa cancion en los 70 en chile muy escuchada por aquellos años ya la recuerdo cuendo la escuchaba en las noches tahe hollies es mi hermano

  • Had never really listened to this song before!!!

  • i love it

  • Das war noch Musik mit Seele.

    Unglaublich schönes Stück!!!

  • This song brings tears to my eyes but the Hollies are such a joy to watch. Solid performances by Bobby and Bernie, Tony's eyes closed as he sang, and hearing Terry's angelic voice make this video special. The best part though was at 3:55 when Allan said " Yes he is baby" and looked to his side. So cool!!!

  • I doubt that even Neil Diamond was happy with his own version of the song, he does not even come close.........

  • @b44ts no other version does the harmonies like this - the song is good anyway but the vocal harmonies are the real kicker

  • Good, but still prefer NEIL DIAMOND

  • great song, vocals and band but terribel video, missed highlights.

  • Is that Alan Partridge on the piano?

  • I didn't realize Edward Norton was a member of The Hollies ;-)

  • very nice live version...!!! thx for upload!.. I also did a live vocal version of this song.. feel free to check out and leave a comment pls! =D

  • What you mean where did the hollies go; they are still around (Where did my BROTHER GO)?

  • A nice old one!

  • This are the years when music is music

  • @tantraboy820 I agree!!

  • @tantraboy820 amen brother. They're so young

  • they just dont make songs the way the used too, ah 70's, ill give anything to travel back in time and return to you, the best years , damn im in tears

  • Edward Norton scene 0:43

  • pause at 0:26

  • the best of 70s LRH

  • I'm tearing up every time I hear this song

  • thx! I almost forgot this one ... love it!!

  • Beautiful!!!!~~~

  • Interesting @ 3:25 how he is able to sing and play the harmonica at the same time. LOL. I do really like this song, though.

  • @MrRlhadden : Terry Sylvester, the one dressed in white takes over the lead vocal and sings "He's my brother" at this point.

  • lo dedico a la memoriade mi hermano CARLOS SE QUE ESTAS en el Cielo te quiero

  • I miss my perm!

  • @1hotdilf I'm sure you do, but best not go out and get another one, eh?.....I'm just guessing.

  • @Poopaloo55 LMAO!!! No, no time soon. Better days and better times it was with my perm!

  • @1hotdilf Haha....that's probably for the best!! With or without perms, the 70s were bloody brilliant, weren't they?

  • great song, Very soulful! No one else should have been allowed to cover this. the Hollies OWN it.

  • Good thing Nash quit or this version of this song may never have happened. Definitely their best achievement.

  • This song is dedicated to my brothers in arms.... I'm grateful for you guys.... SWIFT AND BOLD OIF II 2004-2005

  • Eu nasci na época errada...

I was born at the wrong time ...

    Amazing!!!

  • Und das live - das war's!

  • חיילות

    אהבה

    ישראל

  • 1972 meus tempos de jusag bom demais

quando verdadeiramente cultuavamos o amor e paixão

  • Cudo

  • What a beutiful rendition but he did mess the words up. No big deal, after singing it for so many years it's easy to do. Why can't anyone sing this well these days.

  • Great clip! Lovely version. It was obviously re-recorded just for this show (that was the MU rule at the time) and the vocals added live (I won't get into the "sadness" debate). Look at those 1" thick pads on Bobby's drums to mute them!

  • Meine hare gehen hoch ,und ich weine wen ich das hoere.

  • right on hollies was 3rd next to beatles and rolling stones back then

  • these were the days when a *singer* had to *actually* be able to *sing* ... fantastic!

  • I'm so glad Tony never had a perm!

  • Hehe!! moorlock2003 got you all going!!

    You're out-numbered, moorlock.

Allan could sing "Rhubarb Rhubarb" instead of the correct lyrics throughout the whole song and we would still love it...lol!!

  • ALLAN CLARKE is wonderful!

His voice made the Hollies shine.

    Incomparable, perfect!!!!

  • Love you Allan, thanks for this VDO. Love you all

Hollies, wish to see you in the concerts (if ii is possible).

  • Well its about time !!!! its well overdue !!! "The Hollies" to The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame ... Yes Please !!! Love you Allan Clarke xxxx.....Lyndloo....

  • Ladies and gentlemen......On the final ballot of 10 (from which 5 will be picked)....Rock and Roll Hall of Fame contenders....The (fantastic, tremendous) Hollies!

  • @moorlock2003 you are very right......

  • Unfortunately Allan messes the lyric up toward the end, singing "sadness" instead of "gladness".

  • why do you have to look for faults with every video Ive noticed .. you do it alot dont you ? just enjoy ....OR..better still.... dont watch it .....ok?.. you just wanna spoil everyones enjoyment .. But Guess!!!!! what you dont spoil mine .... Lyndloo....

  • Don't get yourself all bent out of shape; it's not a criticism, just a comment. Even John Lennon messed up lyrics when performing, that he wrote himself! Musicians are only human.

  • @moorlock2003 Sure they are. I've seen Patti Smith and David Bowie both mess up their lyrics in concert; I still love both their music, and I love them all the more for showing that they are not perfect and can laugh with their fans :)

  • Where are you seeing this? sadness?

I can see interpretation, and an outrageously beautiful voice.

    Allan is perfect!

  • at 2:23 he sings the word "sadness", but the word he should be singing is "gladness" which is on the original recording.

If I'm laden at all, then I'm laden with sadness

that everyone's heart isn't filled with sadness? No, it should be gladness,

    and love for one another.

He sings sadness twice when the second time it should be gladness.

    Got it now?

He's only human. Everybody makes mistakes.

  • Understood.

Now you have to understand that Allan is not wrong.

He is just testing the fans to see beyond his beautiful voice and her charm irresistibly fans can hear that he changed the words.

    Congratulations you made it.

  • The man sang the wrong word. You are in denial. The line doesn't make sense the way he sang it. I pointed it out to you, it's there on the video, and I typed out the lyric.. According to you, he is beyond making a simple, human mistake. He meant to sing it that way? Get real.

  • Ah! my friend.

You are talking to a fan of Allan Clarke, and I say:

_Allan can change the letter that he wants, he is the guy.

  • This is Smashing!!! What a great live performance from the one and only Hollies !!!!.. thanx for a Great post ....Lyndloo

  • Outstanding song!!

Thank you so much for posting this video.

    Barbara

  • I think they way things are going in this world, we NEED this song now, more than ever.

  • Beautiful! very cool! wonderful!

    Allan is a spectacle!
