  • You're on your way to a hemi!

  • Such nice soft aluminum. How deep can you go and no hit the water jacket?

  • I am VERY impressed, John.

  • why not do the same with the exhaust ports?

  • @citydriver The exhaust valve is small enough that it is not shrouded and the exhaust is going out, not in.

  • @mopar340dave well i guess thats makes sense

  • nice !!!!

  • That would be just another method to lower compression when fitting a head modified for a turbo ( original turbo engine 1,3l or 1,4l ) on a normal 1,6 litre block :)

    Thanks for the inspiration !

I´ll post this in our FIAT UNO IG Forum

  • the filler looks a little rough... are you preping it before you machine the head?

  • @staircast - The head was welded and rough cut before it went to the resurfacer for final decking.

  • One more great video. My question is about the way you increased compression ratio. What material did you use? Aluminium? And how you filled it into chamber? Don't you worry about the temperature inside the cylinder? Thanks for your answer.

  • @MPWR327i - I use a heliarc (TIG) welder and 4043 filler rod. Temps inside the chamber should be appriximately the same because the volume is kept equal to what was already there. Aluminum heads can run about 1 full compression point higher compression than cast iron head because of their excellent heat dissipation.

  • @fiatnutz Great idea and quite simple! But I'm worried about the reaction of the material, cause 4043 Al is probably different than OEM Fiat material . I mean: weld can break during the engine work. Sorry for my English but probably the problem is "temperature expansion". What do You think about it?

  • What did you spray on the cutter?

  • @EngineshopPA - A light weight cutting oil.

  • race car status?

  • @gst69man - Back together again after the big blow-up at the Pro Solo. Sheard the flywheel bolts, broke 3 lifters, bent all the valves, whacked the cam, etc...

  • nice john!

  • COOL

  • dude sweet mod

  • Its unbelievable how much I learn from your videos, not only about engines, machining, but also the way you work, I even learn new vocabulary (english is not my native language). Thanks for the uploads and the explanations they are very informative =)

  • Did you weld squish areas into the head?

  • @VMATT500C - Yes.
