Amazing prophecy! On the day of atonement, they would tie a red thread to the temple door. If it turned white, it meant that God approved their sacrifice. According to both the Babylonian and Jerusalem Talmuds, the thread stayed red for all 40 years leading up to the destruction of the temple, which was in 70 AD. Therefore, in the midst of the 70th week, the red thread stopped turning white forever.
Both views r wrong IMO. The transgression refers to the 4th kingdom (Dan 8:23). Christ has not put an end to transgression, nor has he made an end of sins, nor has he made reconciliation for iniquity, nor has he brought in everlasting righteousness, nor has he sealed up the vision and prophecy, which is of YHWH's kingdom (Dan 2:44, Isa66:15). For a proper breakdown see TheAfrican(dot)Com(slash)BHC(dot)pdf, starting at p. 34. But really you should start at the beginning of Chap. IV.
Dan.9:24 70 weeks-seven=perfect, perfection, holy, pure, full, whole, etc. seventy=perfect God, perfection of God. Jesus said forgive with the perfection of God times perfection or “forgive as I would” seventy times seven.
Weeks= that which is multiplied by seven, seven day, perfect or sevened, or a generation: Strong's 7620,7650,7651
“Seventy” “weeks”= (the perfection of God) (multiplied by “perfection”) =the perfection of God multiplied by perfection is the object of the sentence.
Dan.9:25 When the commandment goes forth,Jerusalem will be continually rebuilt (even in troublesome times) unto-(to make ready for) the Messiah. 60= the fullness of man 2= confirmation Messiah- He shall be
The Prince
Seven weeks=perfection multiplied by perfection 7 X 7 = 49 “GOD”
And he shall be sixty=the fullness of man, “MAN” and two=confirmed 60 and 2 or 62
“MESSIAH TO BE”-49 (God) and 62 (Man, confirmed) weeks-multiplied by seven 7
49 and 62=111 X 7=777 the perfection of God in man
“threescore and two weeks”=Messiah is perfectly confirmed as the fullness of man
Shall Messiah be cut off=crucified
Not for himself-to save men
The people of the prince-Cesar destroy the city Jerusalem/sanctuary (as in AD70) and the end thereof shall be with a flood=as in flood of AD90
Unto-(to make ready) the end of the war (consummation)=unto the end of the war between Jesus and Satan, “end times” the city shall be desolate=Jerusalem shall be uninhabited until the end of days
Israel rejected "Christ" "The only acceptable sacrifice, God will "never"bend to Israel's rejection; temple sacrifices will never be acceptable "ever". Dan.9 24-27 Jerusalem rebuilt in troublesome times Neh4:16 "unto" Messiah, which was cut off (crucified) the (new) covenant confirmed for 1 week (a generation) in that generation sacrifices/oblations ceased, Jerusalem destroyed by prince (Cesar), flood makes it desolate til end (days) overspreading of temple is til Christ consumes/bound devil, EZ
Except for your interpretation of the 70th week you 're right to say that the completion of the 70 weeks (490 years) happened in the 1st century in the lifetime or generation of his apostles Christ mentioned in Matthew 24:34. After all the salvific work of the Messiah with his death on the cross made it possible for the 6 benefits detailed in Daniel 9:24 to be available to believers in Christ. Thus, if all the 6 benefits have been made available for us by Christ then the 70 weeks are complete.
You ask some good questions and make good points. I will only offer this for you to consider:
1. If Jesus' ministry started in A.D. 27 when He was baptized, that marked the end of the first 69 prophetic weeks, and the beginning of the 70th.
2. His ministry lasted 3 and a half years, during which He fulfilled all the prophecies concerning the prophetic types that represented Him up to that point, up to and including His death and resurrection.
3. The significance of the sacrificial system ended with Jesus' death and resurrection.
4. 3 and a half years after Jesus death and resurrection, Stephen was stoned, and shortly thereafter Paul was called to be the apostle to the Gentiles.
5. All the above was literally fulfilled during Daniel's 70 prophetic weeks without a gap.
6. It is not necessary for verse 16 to be fulfilled during the seventy week period because it is an event that looks beyond the seventy week prophecy, "the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city, etc."
7. It was the the "prince" that destroyed the temple, but "the people of the prince."
8. That prince could not be Jesus, because His people did not destroy the city or the temple.
9. If you really feel that the prince needs to be Jesus in verse 16, than it's possible to see Titus and his armies as the tools with which Jesus fulfilled this future prophecy within the context of the seventy week prophecy.
10. The fact that the prophecy of the destruction of Jerusalem is included in the context of the seventy week prophecy does not necessitate a gap between the 69th and 70th week, but as you rightly pointed out, it does illustrate God's mercy in giving space for repentance to individuals, though not the nation of Israel after the stoning of Stephen.
@guitmartiman , Oh yes, Peter in answering the ridicule of those who inquire about the delay in Christ's coming (the prince who is to come in Daniel 9:26) replied that it was due to God's patience in waiting for the repentance of Israel. it obviously did not happen which accounts for the fulfillment of prophecies concerning the destruction of the Jewish temple & Jerusalem & the end of their religion in Daniel 9:27-27 - described by Christ in Luke 21 as the day of vengeance.
@guitmartiman, The explicit purpose of the 70th week is to CONFIRM (gabar=to prevail upon) the Covenant of Grace which should result to the 6 things mentioned in Daniel 9:24. It is not to FULFILL a covenant since it was already fulfilled by Christ's death on the cross. The end of sins (sin offerings=animal sacrifices) needs to be enforced or prevailed upon the Jews. The destruction of the temple in 70AD stops the oblation & sacrifices. The Book of Hebews talks about its coming end.
Further, Titus cannot be the "coming prince" since that prince is also the "he" that CONFIRMS the covenant with many by causing the OBLATION & SACRIFICES TO STOP in the middle of the 70th week.
According to the Jewish Historian Josephus, Titus gave an order to his men not to destroy the temple but his men disobeyed him. So how could anyone say Titus is the "leader" or "prince" of the "people of the prince" which destroyed the temple in verse 26?
Titus cannot be the "coming prince" since that prince is also the "he" that CONFIRMS the covenant with many. There is no historical account of Titus having made a covenant with anyone. It is not the Anti-Christ because he cannot make a covenant of grace that fulfills the 6 purposes of the 70 weeks which are detailed in verse 24. These 6 goals are all related to the salvific work of the Messiah which he completed on his death on the cross. "is finished." Yet the animal sacrifices needs to end.
So there was a time gap after the death of Christ at the end of the 69th week. The gap is called prophetic compression. It spans a generation about 36-40 years from 30-33 AD to 66-73 AD. It's not more than 1,980 years as claimed by Futurists & Dispensationalists.
The gap allows for the transition of the Old Covenant of Law to the New Covenant of Grace. It also allows time for the repentance of the generation that rejected & killed Christ. It demonstrates God's patience and love.
In what week will you put this event of the destruction of the temple & Jerusalem?
And the people of the prince that shall come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary;
And the end thereof shall be with a flood,
And unto the end of the war
Desolations are determined.
The passage was placed after the 69th week & before the 70th week. I believe it is part of the 70th week where in the midweek the sacrifices ended. It's end is the consequence of the total destruction of the temple in verse 26.
Daniel 26 says the people of the prince shall destroy the temple and Jerusalem. It is within the 70th week. But your calculation did not take it into consideration because it happen years after the death of Stephen. You have a big problem here.
I am glad that I subscribed to your site; I remember the first Anthology CD we got from you and Laurie; yall looked a bit younger. But we all grow older and closer tot he Lord. We are about to wear out yet another set of those CD's
Have you or do you offer them in perhaps video DVD format as well? Maybe not just watching you play, but how ever. I get many ideas from all those I am watching on this YouTube. Well, it is a thought; keep up the great work!
We've actually been considering the idea of putting some of our music in DVD format for those who prefer it that way. So far, however, You Tube is pretty much it as far as videos go for us. I'm so glad the music has been a blessing to you! Thanks for your comment!
Well, I would never pretend to know anything about what you obviously do so well already, but as an example; I saw a YouTube group that is scrolling the song words across a beautiful back ground, so as one could read the words as they sing.. It was very pleasant. I will try to find that place again today so you can take a look. My wife Jody just loves to sing to your scripture songs, and at times I find myself doing it too. I can't sing a lick.
The problem is as I see it is over one word that shouldn't be there in Daniel 8:13 and that word is "concerning." This word was added by the translators(look in your Bibles the word is in italics). Take that word out of the passage and now it applies to the whole vision not just the other bits.
Exactly! Besides which, where on earth do they find Biblical grounds to rip the seventieth week from Daniel's prophecy and stick in the future willy nilly in order to get their post rapture seven year tribulation? How does that make any sense at all? No one yet has been able to explain that to me in such a way that it makes any sense.
Thanks for posting this, it's good to see someone on here who believes like me. Let us pray that the truth will reach everyone who will welcome it. Blessings!
Jack, Thank you for inviting me to be on your Friends list. This song is has interesting Biblical interpretation. It is interesting that many Christians see the sacrifices finishing at the crucifixion so it seems to fit well. When Jesus said about the Winter and the Sabbath, wasn't he talking about the coming destruction of Jerusalem? Just wondering. Kind regards, Rosalie in Australia
Yes, He was, but He was also talking about the end of the world. When the mark of the beast (the end time abomination of desolation, if you will) becomes an issue, there will also be a time of flight for God's people. Jesus' admonition to prayer concerning winter and the sabbath will also be applicable at that time.
A lot of the prophecies in the books of the Old Testament have an end time application too. Esp Genesis. They may be historical stories but they also have a prophetical application too. Is the history leading up to the flood being repeated in a spiritual sense?
Very impressive. I have a thought that has been ringing in my mind for years. How shall we pray concerning these signs. There is one prayer that I remember that says...pray that your flight not be in winter. Let us seek wisdom concerning how we shall be prepared for any kind of testing...tribulation period or not.One prayer is very important...let us pray for the whole body of Christ near and far and stand with them in their work on behalf of Christ.
It actually says, "pray ye that your flight be not in the winter or on the sabbath day" (Matthew 24:20) And, again, I believe this has significance in both the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. and the time of trouble (and persecution for God's people) just before Jesus comes. Thank you for your feedback.
Honey, I wasn't interested in hearing the chapter and verse...I was more interested in your thoughts on how we should pray about these things that are about coming upon this earth...you know heart thoughts...I guess i didn't connect with you.
Well, I hear you. Sorry to be so "chapter and verse" as you call it. It just sort of floored me that you quoted such a relevant passage as it relates to Daniel's prophecy, and I wanted to be accurate in terms of how we should pray for others. I believe the sabbath will be a huge issue during the coming time of trouble, and as such, people ought to be warned as we pray for them. Don't you agree? In praying for others we ought to let our light shine so we & others can see clearly. Blessings!
You explained & illustrated Daniel as I understand it, although some of my friends don't see it that way. Thank you for a helpful vid to help explain my point of view to them. Mary
You're most welcome, Mary! I hope it will be helpful to you and your friends as you continue to study and share with them the meaning of this important prophecy. Blessings on you! Jack
Yes, I think this may be a little too controversial for some of my friends. Some have not been willing to venture a comment on the video, but have PM'd me. Basically, they tell me why they disagree, but they can't do so from the Bible. I'm afraid the devil really has stolen a march on a lot of people, and, unfortunately, many are, and will be, deceived by cunningly devised fables which are presented as Bible truth.
Truely Jack The Word of GOD is our measuring stick, let every man be a liar but GOD's word is truth. Real Living Rightous. LORD knows i am a fool and am nothing in myself i am only something thru CHRIST who redeems me continuously i know not why but i am so gratefull He does!
...When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Then let them which be in Judae'a flee in to the mountains: Matt 24:15-16
In Matthew 24 Jesus was speaking both of the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. and also of the end of the world. There is an aplication of this text to the end of the world, but not, I think, what Tim Lahay et. al. are suggesting. In the end time application, it has more to do with teaching for doctrine the commandments of men and then legislating that doctrine as though it were the command of God. In other words, the mark of the beast (See Rev. 13).
Indeed Jack Israel's house has been desolate and even more so they will not see Him untill they say Blessed is he that cometh in the name of The LORD...
I'm glad to hear you testify! So am I! But Jesus promised He would send the Holy Spirit to "guide us into all truth" (John 16:13). Jesus also said, "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or [whether] I speak of myself.
He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh His glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him" (John 7:17-18).
this study is indeed intense for all...implied???..."and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary;...perhaphs implied here we can ask Him together when we see Him :)
Well, all I can say to that is, "Enter ye in at the straight gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, which leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is gate, and narrow the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." Matt. 7:13-14. I wouldn't pay as much attention to what "many" say as I would to what the Word of God says.
in the middle of the 70th week the prince of the people who destroyed the Temple and the city in 70A.D. will perform the abominations which makes desolations in the third Temple. History revealed a type of this yet JESUS said it was not fulfilled prior to His day in Matthew.
As far as I know, the Bible never says that the earthly temple will be re-built. But if it is, how is it any less desolate, than was the second temple about which Jesus Himself said, "Behold, your house is left unto you desolate" (Matt. 23:38).
Jack there is a first week then 62 weeks then a week. the first week is referenced as a week of sevens, 62 weeks of sevens and a final week of seven. The final week begins with the confirming of the covenant of many for one week.
It's the seventieth week I'm having a problem with. I think where people get tripped up is when they confuse the "he" in verse 26 with the "he" in verse 27. These are clearly two different people. The "he" in verse 26, at least historically, can only refer to Titus who destroyed Jerusalem and the temple in 70 A.D. The "he" in verse 27 can only refer to Jesus, because He's the only one who could "cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease" by His death on the cross.
So after 69 weeks the Messiah will begin his earthly mission but 3.5 days later he would be murdered. Because he was murdered the city and sanctuary would be destroyed and the city and earthly temple would be desolate until the second coming.
So in my mind this rules out any possibility of a rebuilt temple in Jerusalem(even if it happened it would be a desolation). This also means that what happened in 1948 means nothing Bibicaly speaking.
OR: 7weeks(49years) to rebuild Jerusalem than 62weeks(434years) then Messiah shall be cut off but not for himself...(69weeks) clock stop till GOD restarts for final 7yearsover Jerusalem and Israel...GOD Bless you :)
See, that's the part I don't understand. Where does the Bible teach that any prophetic timeline stops (or is put on hold) before it's fulfilled, let alone this one?
The way I read my Bible, Jesus was baptized at the beginning of the seventieth week (27 A.D.). He was crucified 3 and 1/2 years later (31 A.D.), causing "the sacrifice and the oblation to cease." 3 and 1/2 years later (34 A.D.), Stephen was stoned, ending the seventy weeks which were "determined upon thy people," the Jewish nation. At that point the gospel began to be more fully preached to the Gentiles, which is what the Jewish nation should have been doing all along.
The Messiah was cut off after the 69th week not in the 69th week. In other words the Messiah was cut off in the 70th week. The Messiah was annointed at the end of the 69th week and was cut off in the middle of the 70th week. This is what 95% of Protestants used to believe before the Jesuit futurism teaching was taught.
The Messiah spoken of here in Daniel, do you both see any other uses of the variable word 'messiah' used anywhere else in the Hebrew scriptures?
No!
Why is this? Is a clue to where you both have made the same assumption that other scholars and bible readers have been banking on in error!
This Messiah, in Daniel, has nothing to do with the time variances that you all are applying here to our present context of time within Daniel and Revelations respectively!
Lets use YOUR analysis back to the second temples destruction, so lets look at Daniel from this questionable circumstance.
At the time of the second temples destruction WHOM was the 'Prince' and WHOM is the 'Messiah' depicted here in this probable analogy applied with your scriptural precursors in tact regarding again the scriptures in Daniel 'WHOM' would fill these two character slots in that time of given prophecy being fulfilled?
The prince who comes and destroys the temple is not Jesus Christ but the Roman armies lead by Titus who would become an emperpor of the Roman Empire.
The Messiah was cut off in the middle of the week. The 70th week begins at the baptism of Jesus of Nazareth. 3.5 years later Jesus dies on the cross. The Gospel goes to the Gentiles 3.5 years later. Because the Jews rejected Jesus and killed him Jerusalem and the temple would be destroyed and made desolate until the end of the age.
Daniel 9:27 says "he" (Jesus Christ) made a covenant with many & fulfilled it with his death on the cross. But verse 27 is about CONFIRMING (gabar=to pravail upon) & not MAKING OR FULFILLING that covenant.
With his death on the cross in 30-33 AD Christ LEGALLY (in God's sight) ended the need for oblation & animal sacrifices. But even the apostles practiced it during the early church years. Thus, it needs to be ended by force by the "people of the prince" (ROMAN ARMIES) used by Christ .
Since your not biting... Let it be what you believe... Be 'IN HIS PEACE'...
...Remember, you can't tell someone something that they are not able to comprehend by 'mans relative-reasonings' are less than obtained for 'the manly church doctrines' are what man prefers in his comfortabilities by 'other mens doctrines' that they came by before him and his church yet the cycle continues in vain...
With their words of 'religious doctrines' known thus begotten by demons of dillusion they were sent...
I told you the truth. You are still in Babylon. The very fact that you have not heard me proves you are not one of God's people. God's people when they hear the truth will come out of Babylon.
I pray that God will open your eyes before it is too late.
Yeshua Ben Yahweh [Jesus] said to him, Out of 'YOUR' own mouth will I judge thee, [you] wicked servant. You knew that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow: Luke 19:22
Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury? Luke 19:23
And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give [it] to him that hath ten pounds. Luke 19:24
This was very creative but I'm not sure if I agree with what its teaching...maybe I'm not paying close attention but it sounds alot like you dont understand how God has prophesied the last 7 Years called the Tribulation within the the book of Daniel. Maybe I'm wrong but please elaborate in response and correct me if I'm worng. Good song though.^_^
Well, it's not so much that I don't understand the theory of a seven year tribulation period. The problem is, I don't believe the Bible teaches it. Yes, I believe in a time of great trouble just before Jesus comes, but I don't see how you can take the seventieth week of Daniel's prophecy and move it off into some future scenario when it seems plain that it was fulfilled between A.D. 27 and A.D. 34.
I really liked this one jack, the tune reminded me of the Quarrymen. It also puts a new touch to an old story. Thanks for posting it. Good work on the vocals and guitar work. Keep the faith and God Bless.
Wow, The Quarrynmen? I didn't even know the group was active after John left it in the 50s! What a surprise! I'm going to have to see if I can get a hold of some of their music!
Yes, this is a multi-track recording I made a few years ago and included in my project called, Search the Scriptures. It took me a while to find the right pictures to go with this or I would have put it up a long time ago. It's one of four songs from the book of Daniel that I included on that CD. I'm glad you liked it. So far, this is the second one I've uploaded onto You Tube. The first one was a live recording of The King of the North.
maybe I misread the description of the video. pre-trib rapture isnt in the bible either. I will do some more research on this passage (I am taking a class on daniel right now)
Who says there isn't going to be tribulation? I only take exception to the so-called "seven year" tribulation, because there is no rational Biblical support for it. Neither is there any Biblical support for the idea that the church will be "raptured" out of tribulation. My Bible says that God protects His people through tribulation (see Psalm 91).
That great tribulation started during the dark ages. The Bible said there would be a pause and we are living in that pause right now. Christians wake up the Titanic is about to take its final plunge and the whole church is fast asleep.
This interpretation is grossly out of context with the long list of prophecy about "the day of the Lord", unless I am missing something---you have an whole lot of other scripture to refute in order to support your point.
Well, it certainly makes logical and Biblical sense to me, unlike the "secret rapture" and "seven year tribulation" theories. However, I'm open to any light you may shed on the subject.
Thanks Raymond. I hope it does open up some friendly discussion. This is a subject that not many people even begin to comprehend. Thus, many people are being lulled into a false sense of security and not preparing (spiritually or physically) for the time of trouble that is just ahead of us.
Very good Marti! Good use of scriptures. Neat song. Keep up the good work, your doing your job and getting the message out there in both song and scripture.
Thanks, Leon. Please pray that this doesn't just turn into fodder for argument! I really think this is an important passage of scripture to understand.
My brother is a baptist preacher. He's really good at it. I think religion is great. As long as it's used for good and not evil. Rock on man. You play good!

The assumption of a gap between the 69th and 70th week could be the biggest blunder in the history of bible interpretation. .

5. All the above was literally fulfilled during Daniel's 70 prophetic weeks without a gap.
guitmartiman 1 year ago

@guitmartiman , Oh yes, Peter in answering the ridicule of those who inquire about the delay in Christ's coming (the prince who is to come in Daniel 9:26) replied that it was due to God's patience in waiting for the repentance of Israel. it obviously did not happen which accounts for the fulfillment of prophecies concerning the destruction of the Jewish temple & Jerusalem & the end of their religion in Daniel 9:27-27 - described by Christ in Luke 21 as the day of vengeance.
csdr0 1 year ago
@guitmartiman, The explicit purpose of the 70th week is to CONFIRM (gabar=to prevail upon) the Covenant of Grace which should result to the 6 things mentioned in Daniel 9:24. It is not to FULFILL a covenant since it was already fulfilled by Christ's death on the cross. The end of sins (sin offerings=animal sacrifices) needs to be enforced or prevailed upon the Jews. The destruction of the temple in 70AD stops the oblation & sacrifices. The Book of Hebews talks about its coming end.
csdr0 1 year ago
Further, Titus cannot be the "coming prince" since that prince is also the "he" that CONFIRMS the covenant with many by causing the OBLATION & SACRIFICES TO STOP in the middle of the 70th week.
According to the Jewish Historian Josephus, Titus gave an order to his men not to destroy the temple but his men disobeyed him. So how could anyone say Titus is the "leader" or "prince" of the "people of the prince" which destroyed the temple in verse 26?
csdr0 1 year ago
Titus cannot be the "coming prince" since that prince is also the "he" that CONFIRMS the covenant with many. There is no historical account of Titus having made a covenant with anyone. It is not the Anti-Christ because he cannot make a covenant of grace that fulfills the 6 purposes of the 70 weeks which are detailed in verse 24. These 6 goals are all related to the salvific work of the Messiah which he completed on his death on the cross. "is finished." Yet the animal sacrifices needs to end.
csdr0 1 year ago
So there was a time gap after the death of Christ at the end of the 69th week. The gap is called prophetic compression. It spans a generation about 36-40 years from 30-33 AD to 66-73 AD. It's not more than 1,980 years as claimed by Futurists & Dispensationalists.
The gap allows for the transition of the Old Covenant of Law to the New Covenant of Grace. It also allows time for the repentance of the generation that rejected & killed Christ. It demonstrates God's patience and love.
csdr0 1 year ago
In what week will you put this event of the destruction of the temple & Jerusalem?
And the people of the prince that shall come Shall destroy the city and the sanctuary;
And the end thereof shall be with a flood,
And unto the end of the war
Desolations are determined.
The passage was placed after the 69th week & before the 70th week. I believe it is part of the 70th week where in the midweek the sacrifices ended. It's end is the consequence of the total destruction of the temple in verse 26.
csdr0 1 year ago

Take that word out of the passage and now it applies to the whole vision not just the other bits.
daro2096 4 years ago
Indeed. Thank you for your comments.

Kind regards, Rosalie in Australia
alexisasha 4 years ago
Yes, He was, but He was also talking about the end of the world. When the mark of the beast (the end time abomination of desolation, if you will) becomes an issue, there will also be a time of flight for God's people. Jesus' admonition to prayer concerning winter and the sabbath will also be applicable at that time.
guitmartiman 4 years ago
A lot of the prophecies in the books of the Old Testament have an end time application too. Esp Genesis. They may be historical stories but they also have a prophetical application too. Is the history leading up to the flood being repeated in a spiritual sense?

Very impressive. I have a thought that has been ringing in my mind for years. How shall we pray concerning these signs. There is one prayer that I remember that says...pray that your flight not be in winter. Let us seek wisdom concerning how we shall be prepared for any kind of testing...tribulation period or not.One prayer is very important...let us pray for the whole body of Christ near and far and stand with them in their work on behalf of Christ.
mamamialove 4 years ago
It actually says, "pray ye that your flight be not in the winter or on the sabbath day" (Matthew 24:20) And, again, I believe this has significance in both the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. and the time of trouble (and persecution for God's people) just before Jesus comes. Thank you for your feedback.
guitmartiman 4 years ago
Honey, I wasn't interested in hearing the chapter and verse...I was more interested in your thoughts on how we should pray about these things that are about coming upon this earth...you know heart thoughts...I guess i didn't connect with you.
mamamialove 4 years ago
Well, I hear you. Sorry to be so "chapter and verse" as you call it. It just sort of floored me that you quoted such a relevant passage as it relates to Daniel's prophecy, and I wanted to be accurate in terms of how we should pray for others. I believe the sabbath will be a huge issue during the coming time of trouble, and as such, people ought to be warned as we pray for them. Don't you agree? In praying for others we ought to let our light shine so we & others can see clearly. Blessings!

Yes, I think this may be a little too controversial for some of my friends. Some have not been willing to venture a comment on the video, but have PM'd me. Basically, they tell me why they disagree, but they can't do so from the Bible. I'm afraid the devil really has stolen a march on a lot of people, and, unfortunately, many are, and will be, deceived by cunningly devised fables which are presented as Bible truth.

...When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Then let them which be in Judae'a flee in to the mountains: Matt 24:15-16
jbman413 4 years ago
In Matthew 24 Jesus was speaking both of the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. and also of the end of the world. There is an aplication of this text to the end of the world, but not, I think, what Tim Lahay et. al. are suggesting. In the end time application, it has more to do with teaching for doctrine the commandments of men and then legislating that doctrine as though it were the command of God. In other words, the mark of the beast (See Rev. 13).

He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh His glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him" (John 7:17-18).

jbman413 4 years ago
Well, all I can say to that is, "Enter ye in at the straight gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, which leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is gate, and narrow the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." Matt. 7:13-14. I wouldn't pay as much attention to what "many" say as I would to what the Word of God says.
guitmartiman 4 years ago
in the middle of the 70th week the prince of the people who destroyed the Temple and the city in 70A.D. will perform the abominations which makes desolations in the third Temple. History revealed a type of this yet JESUS said it was not fulfilled prior to His day in Matthew.
jbman413 4 years ago
As far as I know, the Bible never says that the earthly temple will be re-built. But if it is, how is it any less desolate, than was the second temple about which Jesus Himself said, "Behold, your house is left unto you desolate" (Matt. 23:38).
guitmartiman 4 years ago
Jack there is a first week then 62 weeks then a week. the first week is referenced as a week of sevens, 62 weeks of sevens and a final week of seven. The final week begins with the confirming of the covenant of many for one week.
jbman413 4 years ago
It's the seventieth week I'm having a problem with. I think where people get tripped up is when they confuse the "he" in verse 26 with the "he" in verse 27. These are clearly two different people. The "he" in verse 26, at least historically, can only refer to Titus who destroyed Jerusalem and the temple in 70 A.D. The "he" in verse 27 can only refer to Jesus, because He's the only one who could "cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease" by His death on the cross.
guitmartiman 4 years ago
I believe there is a chiasm in verses 26 and 27.
A = And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself:
A1 = And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease,
daro2096 4 years ago
(cont)
B = and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof [shall be] with a flood,
B1 = and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make [it] desolate,
C = and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
C1 = even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
daro2096 4 years ago
(cont)
So verse 27 just repeats 26 and expands on it.
So after 69 weeks the Messiah will begin his earthly mission but 3.5 days later he would be murdered. Because he was murdered the city and sanctuary would be destroyed and the city and earthly temple would be desolate until the second coming.
daro2096 4 years ago
(cont)
So in my mind this rules out any possibility of a rebuilt temple in Jerusalem(even if it happened it would be a desolation). This also means that what happened in 1948 means nothing Bibicaly speaking.
daro2096 4 years ago
Jack one of the references for this is Revelation Unveiled by Tim Lahaye page 135 this is one of many for the time i mentioned.
All who call apon the name of The LORD shall be saved...!
john
jbman413 4 years ago
Well, with all due respect to Tim Lahaye, I believe this theory is unbiblical.
guitmartiman 4 years ago
Didn't Tim Lahaye also used to teach that the rapture would happen in 1981 and that Jesus would set up his kingdom on earth in 1988?
Didn't happen by the way, I was just a kid at the time so I should be in the kingdom if indeed the rapture happened in 1981.
Tim Lahaye is a false prophet true and simple. Pray for him.
daro2096 4 years ago
OR: 7weeks(49years) to rebuild Jerusalem than 62weeks(434years) then Messiah shall be cut off but not for himself...(69weeks) clock stop till GOD restarts for final 7yearsover Jerusalem and Israel...GOD Bless you :)
jbman413 4 years ago
See, that's the part I don't understand. Where does the Bible teach that any prophetic timeline stops (or is put on hold) before it's fulfilled, let alone this one?
guitmartiman 4 years ago
The way I read my Bible, Jesus was baptized at the beginning of the seventieth week (27 A.D.). He was crucified 3 and 1/2 years later (31 A.D.), causing "the sacrifice and the oblation to cease." 3 and 1/2 years later (34 A.D.), Stephen was stoned, ending the seventy weeks which were "determined upon thy people," the Jewish nation. At that point the gospel began to be more fully preached to the Gentiles, which is what the Jewish nation should have been doing all along.
guitmartiman 4 years ago
The Messiah was cut off after the 69th week not in the 69th week. In other words the Messiah was cut off in the 70th week. The Messiah was annointed at the end of the 69th week and was cut off in the middle of the 70th week. This is what 95% of Protestants used to believe before the Jesuit futurism teaching was taught.
daro2096 4 years ago
daro and guitmartiman, Questions?
The Messiah spoken of here in Daniel, do you both see any other uses of the variable word 'messiah' used anywhere else in the Hebrew scriptures?
No!
Why is this? Is a clue to where you both have made the same assumption that other scholars and bible readers have been banking on in error!
This Messiah, in Daniel, has nothing to do with the time variances that you all are applying here to our present context of time within Daniel and Revelations respectively!
Lockmanship 3 years ago
daro and guitmartiman, Here is a clue!
Aka August 4th 70CE!
Lockmanship 3 years ago
The prince who comes and destroys the temple is not Jesus Christ but the Roman armies lead by Titus who would become an emperpor of the Roman Empire.
The Messiah was cut off in the middle of the week. The 70th week begins at the baptism of Jesus of Nazareth. 3.5 years later Jesus dies on the cross. The Gospel goes to the Gentiles 3.5 years later. Because the Jews rejected Jesus and killed him Jerusalem and the temple would be destroyed and made desolate until the end of the age.
daro2096 3 years ago
Daniel 9:27 says "he" (Jesus Christ) made a covenant with many & fulfilled it with his death on the cross. But verse 27 is about CONFIRMING (gabar=to pravail upon) & not MAKING OR FULFILLING that covenant.
With his death on the cross in 30-33 AD Christ LEGALLY (in God's sight) ended the need for oblation & animal sacrifices. But even the apostles practiced it during the early church years. Thus, it needs to be ended by force by the "people of the prince" (ROMAN ARMIES) used by Christ .
csdr0 1 year ago
I don't understand what you are talking about.
As far as I know there is only one Messiah and that is Jesus Christ.

27 and A.D. 34.

guitmartiman 4 years ago
Jesus Christ himself warned us of the great tribulation in Matthew 24.
ProvidenceAvenue 4 years ago
Who says there isn't going to be tribulation? I only take exception to the so-called "seven year" tribulation, because there is no rational Biblical support for it. Neither is there any Biblical support for the idea that the church will be "raptured" out of tribulation. My Bible says that God protects His people through tribulation (see Psalm 91).
guitmartiman 4 years ago
That great tribulation started during the dark ages. The Bible said there would be a pause and we are living in that pause right now. Christians wake up the Titanic is about to take its final plunge and the whole church is fast asleep.
daro2096 4 years ago
This interpretation is grossly out of context with the long list of prophecy about "the day of the Lord", unless I am missing something---you have an whole lot of other scripture to refute in order to support your point.
ProvidenceAvenue 4 years ago
Well, it certainly makes logical and Biblical sense to me, unlike the "secret rapture" and "seven year tribulation" theories. However, I'm open to any light you may shed on the subject.
