I like Slayer but Tom Araya's entire dismissal of the burgeoning death metal scene at the time (around 1986 to 1992) is nothing but a cop-out. in interviews they criticize bands like Cannibal Corpse and champion bands like Slipknot. exit credibility.

I always thought Jeff Hanneman was a pretty talented guitarist. He can really fly around the fretboard, but there's still a wildness to his playing. On the other hand, Kerry King's approach to soloing seems to consist little more than running two fingers up & down the fretboard, grabbing the whammy bar & stepping on the wah pedal.

Kick ass vid. I have been looking for some videos with TJ Scaglione drumming. I loved what he did with Whiplash. Dave Lombardo 's shoes are tough to fill but I think he did a very good job.

If you get the chance, check out VSD vids on youtube. VSD- Kill your kids, Mental Breakdown, Phantasmagoria and 2 others, all recorded live in 1987. VSD opened for whiplash in Balto but these vids are not from that show.
