Well, I guess there should be no boundries to music. Visual Kei is about thematic and appearance, as far as I'm concerned :D, nothing wrong with it. Like Industrial or other gothic-gendered music it is sometimes missunderstood as deviant. Though, some people who are "normal" or have accepted tasted i.e. music are FUCKING crazy and kill people or beat their spouses. Long live VK and alternative lifestyles!!! This is much better than the feeling of not belonging with the rest.

There's a slightly difference between emo and visual key -,- first you should've searched anything on the web not saying crap... visual key is very popular style in Japan and it's spreading... Ia agree that emo is shitty, but don't you dare call j-rock bands that way. you have no idea about Japanese culture and my advice to you is: "Start studying!" you're an ignorant LichKingSkullWart. Visual Key is typical way of expression of the musicians from Japan...

Take your own advice and start studying. Emo and visual kei have no relation, so in that way you are right. However, it's not typical and is still a very niche genre. It was more popular in the 90's when bands like Luna Sea, Kuroyume, L'arc~en~ciel, Shaza, etc... were in the spotlight, but bands like Phantasmagoria are not liked or accepted by the general population.
