They need something to do. So they vote. The reasons for this war lie in our favorite word. They won't bomb us on our soil, at least the organized elements, until we leave the sandbox. For another bomb here would tighten our loose grip. This is pretty weak. How exactly is forcing the President to consult actually accomplish anything when all he has to do is veto. Then you still need 2/3 to override his veto. This bill wouldn't change any of that so its the same situation we have now. Congress doesn't need any new powers they need the guts to cut the funding like they should have 5 years ago.

Bush doesn't have to consult with anyone. He is a dictator. He eves dropped on Americans and then gets congress to pass a law to give companies retro-active immunity. He lied about WMDs (Downing Street Memos). He lied about 9/11 and congress has done nothing but cower and give that spoiled rich brat piece of shit everthing he wants. So Jim Baker and the rest need to quit playing William Friedrich Hegel games and STFU!

I wonder why Baker has his flag pen on the wrong side? It suppose to be over your heart unless you feel otherwise. Maybe these guys are realizing a president could in a sense just call for war after war if given the powers to do so. You could end up with a Hitler down the road. If war with Iran is to happen then Bush can bring up one of his executive orders giving himself dictatorial powers. A war with Iran means oil at $200+ a barrel and that would lead to a very big emergency.
