One of the reasons that kiting Kazzak was special was the fact he couldnt be killed in his enraged form. So a GM had to remove him in the end.
Good times. Then they got greedy and started ruining it with expansions to get people to grind all over. And over. And over. GL with that...
Kinda looks like a GM is controlling him from his movements and stuff. Hell Id love to command a giant demon into Stormwind. Especially now in Cata! Might wipe some vermin out :P

for example back in Wotlk before they remade continent with Cata patch i was kitting that little wolf pet from Ungoro Crater that was spawming cleaners
And the best part about that was the more people aggro little pet x2 more cleaners spawn which are unkillable and pretty much hit like a truck

Imagine if this was your first day playing the game, you finally get to a big city and you're just like hell yeah this game is bad ass. Then all the sudden this guy comes, kills you countless times because he's impossible to kill in SW. I would uninstall my game on the spot lol.
@oc445 If you ask me, kazzak was still worse. That nightelf could actually be killed while in a city. The nightelf also has a fairly limited range for the AoE compared to the shadowbolt volley of kazzak as you see in the vid (3.14 for example)
The only way I'd say the NE is stronger, is because the doesn't just kill your character, it also kills your FPS.

I wish Blizz hadn't fixed things like this because it added quite a bit of challenge to Raids, I mean, don't get me wrong, I enjoy fighting off anyone who decides to raid, but bringing a huge ass boss with them makes it much more fun!
I remember back when Kruul would randomly invade the major cities just before BC launched, someone kited Kazzak into Stormwind & both Kruul & Kazzak tore up the entire city.. I play Horde so I had to hear about it through a chat log, I quickly went to Stormwind with a few of my friends so we could watch the mayhem unfold..
Back in 2005 my friend and his guildmates on Terenas EU kited Kazzak to SW. We literally ROFLed tears in our eyes watching Kazzak causing all those ally players run away in terror and confusion, not knowing there was no escape from the horrific purple-skulled death :D
kazzak really wasnt all that tough either, if you went at him as a standard raid. He only shadowbolts during enrages/more players than a raid. keep everyone healled, dont let anyone die, and you will down him in 2-5min depending on your gear. He really wasnt a bad boss even in outlands either, more like a lol boss.
This is really cool, I heard about this from Blizzard themselves. Hundreds of employees all over the world was on this case, loads of alliances greatest guilds on that server attempted to take Kazzak down but with great failure. There was even a big horde group that attempted to bring him down but they failed even harder. Eventually Blizzard was desperate, they found no other way out of this than to restart the server.
Sweet memories, just looking at the players..... and something like could happend, even more sweet. By the way; Kazzak gets immortal after 5 minutes of aggro.
Yep Kazzak used to be a rare spawn raid boss in Eastern Kingdoms. Really dedicated people could kite him, and since he basically levels up every time he kills a player he quickly becomes invincible.
@MadPutz Or just the fact that he actually heals himself every time he kills someone... combined with a ton of level 1 characters he heals more than he gets damage which is what makes him 'invincible'.
@LanceDH Basically, listen how exactly Lord Kazzak version 1(lvl63) worked:
If he kill someone, he gains 75k hp.
Every 30 secs he puts a mana bomb to a mana user(if there is one) which drains 2k mana every second( we use to have 9-11k mana at 60 so 3-4 seconds until oom) and when the user goes oom, explodes for 11 aoe dmg.Also every 45 secs he puts Mark of Kazzak to a melee target, if he hits him he gains 15k hp each hit.
He got cleave attack, a surprisingly strong heroic strike.
Now for the end, the really interesting ability of Lord Kazzak is what we called "The Supreme Mode" which is an old-fashioned version of enrage. After 3 minutes(181 seconds) of engaging him, Lord Kazzak will enter the Supreme Mode shouting" Kazzak is Supreme!" making him faster, stronger and able of using the Shadow Volley Ability="Calls Down a shadow volley, hitting every enemy unit with a shadowbolt ~4k damage at a ~3
@WickedpersonY That last mechanic was made for the single purpose of wiping a raid for sure after 3 minutes of fight. But, they did not expect that Lord Kazzak would be kited to a Capital City, with infinitive enemies, therefore infinitive destruction!
@LanceDH he'd still have been killable if the cooldown of his shadow bolt volley didn't get reduced to global cd after a short time, he was only killable even in the outside only in the first few minutes of engaging
Kazzak really wasnt a rare spawn, he was on a regular timer (3 days or so). He spawned in the Blasted Lands, South West of the Dark Portal. He was on an enrage timer, and didnt need kiting as you say.
Thing about it was, that he was a world spawn, and there used to be alot of contest between Horde and Alliance over whoever got to kill it.
This video was made by a guildmate of mine, after Proximity, another guildmate had gotten aggro while mounted, and pulling him to Stormwind.
During one of the old patchs the scourge would invade certain towns & sometime capital citys.
The funny part is the fact that Highlord Kruul would randomly spawn at one of the capital citys, if you decided to kite Lord Kazzak to the city Kruul was at it would be impossible to kill them both until Highlord Kruul decided to despawn, they both "had" an ability to be healed by about 5% of their health each time they killed someone, and capital citys tend to have alot of noobs getting 1-shot.
Thumbs up if you think there should be attacks like this one sometimes in the game. Its frickin funny watching that big demon invading the city and everyone dying.
@Wolficide The Horde on the servers I play on are epic and pwn The Alliance even though we are outnumbered on Emerald Dream EU, so many kids on Alliance side lol.
@Wolficide Just defending the horde a bit, on the servers I play on there are more kids on ally who act tough and are agressive for no reason but you will get that wherever you go sadly.

While 2:05 is indeed awesome, I perosnally love 2:22, where Kazzak decides to just wade through the crowd, throwing a billion-bolt volley. It's as if he just said, "Fuck you, PCs, I'm going here now."

@Fuzzbutt922 Nah, because then he would have killed everything and reset. When put him in stormwind or orgrimmar, the guards are constantly spawning, so it would keep Kazzak busy killing. The gold farmers that spammed would also get hit by his shadow volley. This was a really good day, and it happened a few times before Blizzard finally set the range, which wasn't very far. Found him in hellfire yesterday, killed him and got 2 lvl 70 epic BoE's. Kind of a cool thing to just toss in the ol' bank.
@Fuzzbutt922 It was really kind of funny that he had an Enrage timer of 45 seconds. Hit harder than a mother on all our party's 80s for a world boss. We're really geared out around 5800 - 6k GS, tank was able to dodge the blows, but the shadow volley would hit all of us for around 9k.
@Fuzzbutt922 Kazzak is now in Outlands...Also after this little occurrence (several servers had people kiting Kazzak to places to romp around, each needing a reset afterwards) Blizzard made it so that all mobs have a "Leash" -- meaning they can't be kited past a certain point.
@Fuzzbutt922 Nope, still possible, you can find him in hellfire peninsula at kil'jaeden's throne, but the ability to kite him is gone. You'll know he is up there because he screams out across the entirety of HF, and when a group is fighting him, you can hear him over by Terrokar Forest making the battle shouts. He is really really loud.

@WickedpersonY That last mechanic was made for the single purpose of wiping a raid for sure after 3 minutes of fight. But, they did not expect that Lord Kazzak would be kited to a Capital City, with infinitive enemies, therefore infinitive destruction!

@LanceDH he'd still have been killable if the cooldown of his shadow bolt volley didn't get reduced to global cd after a short time, he was only killable even in the outside only in the first few minutes of engaging

Kazzak really wasnt a rare spawn, he was on a regular timer (3 days or so). He spawned in the Blasted Lands, South West of the Dark Portal. He was on an enrage timer, and didnt need kiting as you say.
Thing about it was, that he was a world spawn, and there used to be alot of contest between Horde and Alliance over whoever got to kill it.
This video was made by a guildmate of mine, after Proximity, another guildmate had gotten aggro while mounted, and pulling him to Stormwind.

During one of the old patchs the scourge would invade certain towns & sometime capital citys.
The funny part is the fact that Highlord Kruul would randomly spawn at one of the capital citys, if you decided to kite Lord Kazzak to the city Kruul was at it would be impossible to kill them both until Highlord Kruul decided to despawn, they both "had" an ability to be healed by about 5% of their health each time they killed someone, and capital citys tend to have alot of noobs getting 1-shot.

@Fuzzbutt922 Nah, because then he would have killed everything and reset. When put him in stormwind or orgrimmar, the guards are constantly spawning, so it would keep Kazzak busy killing. The gold farmers that spammed would also get hit by his shadow volley. This was a really good day, and it happened a few times before Blizzard finally set the range, which wasn't very far. Found him in hellfire yesterday, killed him and got 2 lvl 70 epic BoE's. Kind of a cool thing to just toss in the ol' bank.

@Fuzzbutt922 It was really kind of funny that he had an Enrage timer of 45 seconds. Hit harder than a mother on all our party's 80s for a world boss. We're really geared out around 5800 - 6k GS, tank was able to dodge the blows, but the shadow volley would hit all of us for around 9k.

@Fuzzbutt922 Kazzak is now in Outlands...Also after this little occurrence (several servers had people kiting Kazzak to places to romp around, each needing a reset afterwards) Blizzard made it so that all mobs have a "Leash" -- meaning they can't be kited past a certain point.

@Fuzzbutt922 Nope, still possible, you can find him in hellfire peninsula at kil'jaeden's throne, but the ability to kite him is gone. You'll know he is up there because he screams out across the entirety of HF, and when a group is fighting him, you can hear him over by Terrokar Forest making the battle shouts. He is really really loud.
