This cop is simply wasting time trying to explain safety and common sense to a fanatic who flatly refuses to listen. There are limits to free speech. One of those limits is a high-speed highway where the number, type, and locations of signs (and similar distractions) are controlled to reduce accidents.

Yeah I have to say that you should never make a cop make you look like an asshole, I support Ron Paul and am very active in the campaign, but this is an embarrasment. This whole idea is based on common sense, if you wanted to piss the cop off you should have moved 10ft down the street.

Holding signs on public property is perfectly legal and a constitutional right. You must keep moving. The cop is 100% wrong. The federal court case is Brown v. California Highway Dept. They have said it is a right under the constitution which TRUMPS ANY STATE LAW. They have said it is NOT a safety issue any more than any paid billboard. COPS DO NOT KNOW THE LAW. DO NOT listen to them about this. In this case they do not even have probably cause to stop and ID you.

I am glad you all stood your ground for as long as you did and I wish you best of luck, but you have no legal argument. Reason being, despite a crime not being committed, you still complied with the cops' suggestion, which nullified any possible damage that would have occurred from a false arrest.
