Nascar may not look intense, but that changes when you get the chance to drive one of those machines in real life. Heat, vibration, noise, crazy forces mashing your insides around- the pro drivers don't get enough credit.
I love how road-racing fan-boys like to dish on NASCAR but then any time one of their road course guys comes over here and tries it they aren't worth a shit for the most part. The ones that DO manage a top 10 from time to time only do so after a couple of years and/or on a fuel-strategy track.
Stock car racing started because it was accessible for the average person to build a car. Formula 1 was always a competition of the manufacturers. Over the years, drivers have become famous, but the whole focus in F1 was the company who made the car, not on the driver. Stock car racing is more about drivers and teamwork, seeing who can use their limited adjustments and strategy better. F1 is about who can do complicated math and design.
Stop fighting about two completely different things.
Why do people argue? I personally dislike oval nascar. I watch it sometimes on road courses. But who cares?
First off, Nascar is STOCK CAR RACING. They aren't SUPPOSED to have technical advantages over each other. Don't compare that to the most technically advanced form of racing on the earth, (F1). The funding for developing new modifications in F1 is astounding, hence the top name domination.
They even have a constructors championship...it's completely focused differently.
@b00mYou Ok? And a few years ago they were making over 900bhp and were v-10's, so, what's the point? Can't really compare different eras, especially with all of the crazy rule changes that seem to happen every week in F1.
@dalton123736 Yes, laptops are fine if you have good hardware. There is no mac support, but you can easily install windows on it via Bootcamp and it will work.
Grow up people. There's a reason why this game supports MANY series. Doesn't matter if its NASCAR, IndyCar, Prototype racing, F1... Racing is racing. Personally I enjoy each series equally, so can we please mature a bit?
@nvstewart Yea and F1 cars have a power to weight ration nearly double that of a nascar car......you need good footwork to launch and F1 car. I like nascar for competition, like F1 for the technology and speed.
@gamerforNascar Attacking on F1 because someone do not understand oval racing just showed your lack of understanding of F1. And about skill of controlling a car. Try to put a Nascar driver in F1 car to race Spa at wet conditions and F1 driver in NASCAR to race anywhere and anytime. Than compare how much they are of the pace.
NASCAR driver are grate drivers but looking down on F1 and level of skill there is just ignorant.
@MiokovicD yeah and the same thing can said be when putting a F1 driver in a NASCAR car. for example, Juan Montoya and Scott Speed, they both struggled highly when they went to NASCAR. and anybody can do good at spa in the rain if they drive for Red Bull, McLaren, or Ferrari.
@MiokovicD A lot of IRL drivers have gone on to NASCAR careers, and IRL is incredibly similar to F1. Tony Stewart, for example, is the most successful. Other drivers include Juan Pablo Montoya and Danica Patrick are running races. Dario Franchitti used to race. Patrick Carpentier and John Andretti raced and they used to run Champ Cars. So...some IndyCar-type racing series in the U.S. seem to be more INTERESTED in running NASCAR...
@Twister82697 Even my favorite driver ,Raikkonen, want to drive at NASCAR. I am not looking down on NASCAR. My point is .. do not look down on F1 ...or NASCAR. Both series have amazing drivers. If you read my posts again you will see that I am not looking down on NASCAR at any point.
Danica, Carpentier, Franchitti, John Andretti cant touch Tony Stewart or JPM. I am very curious to see what JPM can do in top equipment and he'll always have sponsor support, hell he has more fans than Dale Jr.
When it came to CART and IRL, Montoya was the best. 2000 was plagued cause of the switch to toyota. His career could have been even greater if he stayed in the U.S. instead of leaving for the few wins over in F1.
@Jaymobe07 John Andretti has won races in an underdog car, bro. Even more of an underdog car than JPM drives. Yes, it was a well known team, but we all know Petty Enterprises never got their shit together and always had low performance cars due to Richard Petty trying to run the team like it's still the 70's. John Andretti would have already won an oval track race in JPM's car.
@MiokovicD Watch 2008 Montreal Nationwide race, when NASCAR raced in the rain. NASCAR drivers are just as good in rain, but NASCAR tires just can't take it as well as F1's tires does.
@Bluestorm5 BTW I did watch that race. Villeneuve was doing good but crashed at the end. :) And once again .. I am not attacking NASCAR skill. I am defending skill of F1 drivers. ;)
@Ag0RxxLCSxx Sorry, I'm into real racing :( I'm only rookie 2.51 in the Ovals (TBH, I would play the Ovals more if I didn't have to race those stupid Legends to get out of Rookie.
@fcukugimmeausername I'm into real racing too, do it often. I did Time Trials all the way to an A class license. I hated racing legends, full of people learning how to sim-race/drive in general at speed. iRacing does have good legends, SS and LM races but they are few/far inbetween.
@fcukugimmeausername It might feel like its stupid to run with people that are "bad", but try to keep in mind that we're all bad compared to someone, and that learning to bases fully, will make you a lot better racing in the "real" series, if you can't avoid at least half of the rookie wrecks (which would allow you to get to C or even B quite quickly), you won't be able to avoid with a 3500pound car going at 160mph for example, only thing you can do, is qualify good, try maximizing that.
@3ricS53 This is true. I too was very sceptical about oval racing, but I gave it a go on iRacing, and wow. There is MUCH more to it than just turning left. Travelling at 190 mph in a pack of cars requires a LOT of nerves, especially when you have to did this for more than 100 laps...
@jammydodgerman Yes your right, I'm still not a NASCAR fan but after playing iRacing I have gained much respect for the difficulty and after a year I'm still learning - there is a very precise and subtle art to it, one wrong move in the pack and your the reason 5 cars get wrecked and everyone is upset with you, lol
Iracing has gotten insane now! I can't hold back my wallet for much longer!
