If you tape up your ears like every week instead of stretching up every whenever it makes it like not hurt at all. You still go up a size every month or so, but with less strain on your ears, as long as you don't overwrap the tape.

Moving up sizes didn't hurt as long as I did it in the shower or wet both the gauge and my ear. I even gauged up two sizes one day.
