This has always been my favorite song of theirs, but many people forget that it was Martin Lopez (ex Opeth) who played on Amon Amarth's first album and was one of the driving forces behind their writing. Amazing props to Fredrik for doing this song justice by learning every little nuance and fill. Swedish Viking Metal will live on forever, much like the story of 5 brave men... endlessly!

umm yea actually there is such a genre as viking metal. the lyrical content is what makes a sub genre unique as a great deal of black/death metal can be called one or the other or both depending on whos who on the subject. bands who r clearly black metal as a standard claim death and vice versa. when u get into sub genre its very broad as with viking metal, folk metal or for instance when immortal was still fresh they claimed holocaust metal as there own special sub genre. ppl need to get right!

Its not really heel-toe. It's kind of a double stroke technique. Heel-toe is WAY diff

To get those fast doubles, you hit the 1st note, then stop the pedal to get the 2nd. It's a sliding motion up the pedal...

On a DW5000, press on the last zero, then on the first zero. So, it goes "bum bum", like a double stroke.

Just watch a lot of jazz drumming. They might use a double pedal, but 90% of the time, they do they double stroke with a single.

Its easy when you get the motion down.

He's using his pedals on the kick drums in the very beginning. You can tell since the pitch is much lower than his snare drum. If you're listening through low quality computer speakers you might not be able to tell the difference.
