  • @thecroust have you even eaten a hamburger or had a fish filet? corporations processing these foods are 100000xs worse than fish owners feeding their fish other fish.

  • @thecroust people like you are simply not intelligent. Because clearly a fish in the wild has A.) never encountered another fish and B.) fought over territory C.) killed and ate another. People buy cichlids for their color and beauty, intelligence, temperment and even aggression. People like you go to a video named, "Jaguar Cichlid Eats Fish" and says "why am i watching this video? this is animal cruelty and disgusting?"

  • 40cm FEMALE?

    You gotta be kidding me!

That's the most MASSIVE female JAG EVER!

  • @CichliDaqi : this was one massive lady. In her last years she was no longer productive/laying eggs, but kept on slowly growing.

  • do you need a snorkel and mask to clean that tank?

  • @vinniedurrant :-) check out the 951 gallon tank

  • B E A Utiful Jags.. must be a handful to maintain them

  • Amazing tank and very nice environment for the fish. Good job!

  • nice tank

  • @no0kieNRW thanks!

  • are they a pair? and how big are they?

  • @TheFishfrog : they are a pair, and are approximately 40cm or 15.7 inches

  • O crap I just scrolled down and I see you already answered the question about lighting to that one guy but hey man thanks anyway!

  • @ekeokster85 : cool! What I do now in the 951 gallon tank is I combine TL with HQI.

  • Hey here's a question, how in the heck do people make the lighting so dim like this video I've tried and I have tried different angles but nothing works are you guys like using different lighting or like a bulb that's low in watts????? Please if someone can answer that would be amazing! Thanks

  • One of the best tanks a have seen.

  • @iamDoFy thanks! check out my new tank ;-)

  • @tommulders Hoe groot was deze tank dan tom?

    Mvg,

    Erik

  • @AweSomo84 : 250x80x70

  • @mistaevanson mangunese is a short intestine fish ,,, this means this fish can eat alot of fish meat and process it very well ,,, but as most chilclids go if you very their diet they colour is better ,, and crustations help the females egg up , sexing this spiecies is very easy they usually drop tubes and they usually lock jaws in their mating dance mostly female have red eyes and are rounder in the fins with less head protutions as in most fish types hope this helps

  • just got me a jag i had him right next to some feeders in a bag, and he busted the bag to get to the feeders. seems to have teeth and hes only like 8months

  • Awsome ugly bastard fish man!

  • friggin huge beautiful jags...What do u feed them?

  • @TokenPictures111 : these were fed on smelt, mussels, shrimps, saki-hikari

  • @thecroust people in the u.s. keep fish like these together to breed. these are clearly a male and a female

  • best tank on the tube ! perfect specimens & tank

  • @mistaevanson : actually I by them wholesales, frozen, per kilo. Additionally I feed the bigger fish Saki-Hikari. This is a high quality Koi food that works really well for cichlids.

  • @mistaevanson : I feed them "smelt" (or Spiering in Dutch), and Tetra Discus food. Once every couple of days i feed them chopped mussels as well. Works like a gem. When they get bigger (+10inch) I regularly skip a day, which they handle really well: these are predators, and they will over eat, so a bit of time between good meals is fine.

  • Tom how do you do the lighting? I love how mellow it is!! SO natural looking, and makes the cichlids look better

  • @NorthwoodTimberwolve : thanks! This tank had two 70Watts HQI lights. These lamps are now above the 3600 liter tank. You could check out my blog for more info. Simply click on the images on my youtube channel

  • @thecroust ya i know when i used to have a cichlid tank i used to hate when the fish would fight it would stress me out. how can u like watching that it bothers me

  • @bruizer1100 : if you have a look at my tanks, I hope that you can see that the fish have been carefully selected to match. Having too many territorial fish in a too small tank gives (undesired) fireworks. It's also good to match fish with similar stress levels. Certain cichlids handle stress pretty well (e.g. nigrofasciatum) and can be matched with other more aggressive fish. Others really suffer and should be matched with other more appropriate fish. Also hiding places are crucial!

  • Do they hunt for the small fish? Or are they too slow for that?

  • @fisherman993 : the nigrofasciatum is too fast plus there are to many small hiding spaces. Older/weaker fish do get eaten sometimes.

  • @fisherman993 they are very quick. Small fish will be eaten.

  • That I had only these two pieces Parachromis in this large tank? This great luxury!

  • @cichlidportal : actually, there are several other fish as well. This video was shot when I introduced the Para's in the tank. All other fish were checking them out from between the rocks.

  • @tommulders Thank you for your reply. They are beautiful.

  • These P.managuensis are great! How big are they? How big is the tank?

  • @cichlidportal : the female was about 38cm (14.9 inches) and the male about 37cm (14.5 inches). This tank was 250x80x70cm. You can find it when you check my vids and look for "overview of my tank - on request"

  • Love the aquascape and those are some very nice looking Jag's.

  • Can't get enough of your incredible tank..............

    Check mine out sometime!

  • wat is they growth rate

  • @phillyicon1 : first 25cm in about 1.5 yr. After that a lot slower.

  • Beautiful Fish =)

  • awesome tank dude, really love the look of it

  • how big are they?

  • @TheFishfrog : the female was about 38cm (14.9 inches) and the male about 37cm (14.5 inches)

  • Amazing video. Thank you so much for showing this georgus fish.

    Thanks a lot.

  • I love the tank set up. I tried to emulate something similar with my own tank. Take a peak at mine!

  • luv these fish

  • Gorgeous setup dude

  • awsome looking tank and awsome jags!!!!

  • male and female?

  • @Headshot426 : yes male and female. Actually, the female is the largest of the two fish.

  • @tommulders Thats odd how the female is bigger did u get it before the male or did it like eat more than the male? Do ur fish ever fight?

  • @MyDovii : this is indeed rare. I got them as a couple, and don't know the exact background. It could be that she "remarried".

  • @tommulders Oh that makes cents thx 4 the info and it is indeed rare 2 see because most males r always bigger than females

  • I love your set up.

  • @thecroust , absolutley noone except your tree hugging brothers and sisters care about live food. its life. get over it. stop complaining. moove on. dont watch it. mungbean.

  • thecroust we don't all do tht.Thts animal cruelty I feel sad everytime I c a video of a animal fighting another one

  • Thanks for posting this. Such an amazing tank, very very cute. Thanks a lot.

  • Congratulations on a most wonderful tank, this is the most beautiful home show tank I have ever seen and the fist look stellar. I am a stickler for replicating fishes natural habitat and I must say you did a stellar job. Congrats, you should post some advice on how you aquascaped that tank.

  • there huge!

  • i notice the patch of algae growing on your rock, im assuming not having a pleco is how you achieve this? hah

  • @Buddahisbetta: actually I have 2 big pleco's in this tank, but these types of algae are not eaten by them... :-(

  • i used to have like 5 cichlids and they had fry but i think were eaten by another... how much is a jaguar cichlid those thinsg are sweeet!!!

  • well done! whats the water temp?

  • 25 degrees Celsius

  • Some people do, it is discusting see those vids were they have such a lack of respect for the beautiful cichlids, to purposly do that is just beyond me, I mean a cichlid fight can be interesting to whach but to put two fish together just to whatch them brutelize each other is just discusting.

  • Sadly a lot of them do, and it's not just in the States (I'm Australian). People buying fish that will impress their friends and make a cool party trick are unfortunately all too common. I've never been a fan of Aggressive Centrals due to their aggression, but it's half the appeal of them.

Mind you, there are a lot of fishkeepers out there that do pull it off responsibly.

  • that is an awesome tank, good work

  • humm..iono but jag is not good to put in with other jags unless they are pairs...not good to mix jags with other big big agressive fish. my little jag..i keep it with my jewels but the jewels are smart and cunning and have alot of hiding places. but yeah. iono some people just want actions so yeah.

  • @zajdabneeg : it really depends on the size of the tank, the availability of hiding spaces, the selection of co-habitants. I've had jags with other fish in big tanks before, and, if these factors are taken into account, it should be possible. But I agree, Jags can become massive and dominant, and are therefor not easily kept in company.

  • wow im gonna go and buy a jag soon so yeaa im so excited....how many gallons is ur tank

  • nice set up

  • Beautiful looking jags.....how big and old are they?

  • Tank looks great! so natural looking

  • inch managuensis?

  • lmao true that fish get on my nerves got me a pit way more worth it than a big expensive tank

  • Hi great tank just wondered if you bothered using CO2 for the plants it not what you do? Cheers.

  • CO2 is not necessary, as the tank is only lightly planted.

  • ar i see ill try something like that in my case :

  • Stunning looks so natural

  • B E A Uty of a tank, man i just got a 250g tank ima model after yours ...if uont mind that is.

  • how massive are we talking

  • the female was 40cm or 15,7 inch

the mail was about half an inch smaller

  • When I saw this tank my jaw litterally deopped. Nice tank man I hope to own something like this one day...

  • thats how a tank should look like! so natural and the fish are awesome , will be setting a tank up like that

  • may i fuck your tank lol.....best tank on youtube hands down ...i got 2 small buttikoferis and a sunny catfish in a 30 gallon tank do you think thats big enough??????????please comment back

  • The Buttikoferis get real big (12" easily) so 30 gallon tank is definitely not big enough. My Juvie Butti is in a 90 gallon tank.

  • get a tank literally 5 times the size and you'd be heading in the right direction.

  • well considering you dont see the tank end in the entire vid you need to shut up.

  • those guys are big . what do you feed them babies?

  • very nice landscape

  • What size tank is this? You have my dream tank. I'm going to copy you one day and do a CA setup just like this!!!!! Keep it up!

  • What size tank Bro?

  • see my other videos: there is one especially on the tank

  • nice setup and jags bro..

  • I just discovered that I was sold a jaguar in place of a convict it is small now but I was wondering when they start killing the other fish in the tank and how fast they grow? Also when I do separate him do you have any idea on a good tank mate for him?

  • THEYRE NOT THAT BIG

  • Super nice tank, and fish!

  • wow,you got rare size of jag.i only have five jaguar why they alway fight....can you reply me....

  • well, a jag is a cichlid which is best kept as a pair. single out your primary couple and remove the rest of the fish. also, have a Large tank. My fish are 40cm. But when the reach 50cm they can be twice as big....in weight!

  • mate five jags in a tank is a big no mate, unless your tank is a fukn pool, keep these guys are best kept alone or in pairs with a large tank becuase like most chiclids jags are highley territorial.

if u want to know more comment my profile ill be more than happy to help you out.

  • Nice jags. I have a 6 month old 4". How big of a tank is that?

  • Beautifull fish and beautifull tank too.

  • hi, i just got a jag, its on its own in a 240 litre tank. i wanted to know if you could give any advise on feeding, housing and general tank duties, like water changes and what percentage and how often, thanks

  • 1. weekly 1/3 of the tank water change.

    2. as they can/should grow enormous I recommend at least a 600 liter tank

    3. they eat all kinds of frozen fishfood like shrimp, mussels, small fish, but best is to feed it with your own feederfish, e.g. nigrofasciatum. Avoid fish from the point as they can be full of worms/diseases.

  • Legit fish and set up.

  • the lighting is great nice job well done

  • Great aquascaping job you've done there. Good looking fish, too.

  • HQI 2x70W

  • Perfect.

  • Respect

  • Perfect natural setting! Beautiful...I wish I had a large enough tank for these brutes.

  • awesome jags, awesome tank!

  • absolutely beatiful jags mate! my male jag is about 35cms, i tried putting a female in there for him, but he just ate her eggs and beat her up, so i had to give it away :( , love to have a pair like that, good job!

  • What a pro

    Respect bro

  • can you tell me where you got those tree root looking branches?

  • I live in the Netherlands, also called the Low Lands. The former swampy areas contain old tree roots in "peat", and are therefor well preserved. They are great in aquaria and vivaria.

  • lucky!

  • Good looking fish.

  • Awesome to see someone actually treating this species with respect.

  • I love the background what is it, and where did you get it, I will recieve a 500 g soon, and I want something like that

  • the background is black poly-carbon (3mm) glued to the glass.

  • amazing.
