Here's the video if you want to see, Gurkha KHUKURI used to behead animals in just a single shot back in our country - Nepal during festivals. Enjoy (◠‿◠)
Let me see your warface! AAAAAAAGGGHH!!! That's a warface! When its comes to thrusting...a $2.00 ice pick is hard to beat. Kukris are slashing, chopping weapons.
I have the Jungle AngPana from the Khukuri House and you aint kidding its great for home defense! Its my go to weapon for bums in the night and it has the O SH*T factor cranked up to 10 ten!
My dad was a little boy in Indonesia during WW2. After the Japanese surrendered, the Brit's disarmed the Japanese soldiers but allowed the officers to retain their pistols. One day a patrol of Gurkha's with a British officer came upon a drunk Japanese officer in dad's village. The Japanese officer got crazy and went for his pistol. One of the Gurkha whipped out his kukri, cooly sliced off his ear, reversed direction, and laid the blade against the officers throat, grinning the whole time.
I've had one for a while and it is scary sharp. As a serrada eskrima practitioner I enjoy blades. I tried slipping mine out once without undoing the retaining snap and it cut through it like butter! Careful with this one. And yes it's not really a 'thrusting' weapon
i am thinkin of getting one the beast how long did u have to wait for it i look on there web site about the beast is the handle rose wood or is it bufflo horn
LOL I love your enthusiasm here with the Kukri. That baby will be in my hands as soon as I pay off my $2,500. 00 surveillance system. Securities measures goes hand-in-hand with other self-defensive measures.
Let me know if you ever get the Natchez Bowie, either SK-5 or San Mai III. I've heard there is really no difference aside from the price. I've been eyeing it for a while.
I got the custom "the beast" after ur first video and glad i did i herd they don't sell it anymore , i would choose the 3 cherri cause its better all around if u ask me, u would need to hold it and use it yourself to really get a feel for it and decide. great video tom. And also it took way less swings to cut through that branch , in a survival situation u want to burn the least amount of callories, the more u swing the more u burn!
whats the turn around time on a kukri from kukri house i live in oklahoma ? also im fixing to sign up for a conceled carry course here what do u recommend to carry and go threw the course with ? i prefer larger calibers
allied special forces would use a dagger and sneak up on a guard and slit there throut, these guys just smashed them in the head straigth through there helmet
The trouble with that type of weapon is still does not offer much reach advantage over a normal blade. If a bad guy has a non gun weapon I would really want some kind of medium size pike style weapon to stop them getting close enough to strike at my body. Plus have a good blade as a back up though incase.
If your adding a gurka kukhri for survival and combat the cold steel is your best bet. Great ability plus the weight savings. Remember every ounce adds up in a survival situation. Handmade is best just for a collection addition. Good video.
I think that the kukri is marvelous. I have owned all kinds for over 20 years. I also would like to recomend that you check out a weapon used by the filipino marines called the Ginunting. They can be found on TRADITIONAL FILIPINO WEAPONS.COM. Ron Kosakowski sells all kinds of other weapons including his Kukri. The steel quality is awsome. The smith who makes them has a video of his blades cutting steel! Please check out his site.
Okay Tom..They both did well! lol The ones handmade in Nepal is actually made from crappier steel then the cold steel...They are also heat treated not as good as the Cold Steel...the difference is the Cold Steel needs to be sharpened a bit.
@pennfootball71 The Cold Steel has a more homogeneous grade of Steel then the spring steel used in the custom Kukri...also the custom one is a bit heavier though it gives it a tick of a weight advantage but both are good.
The blade, balance, performance and history are all remarkable! I had the pleasure of serving with troops from Nepal on one of my tours to Afghanistan. They are fierce, dedicated warriors
I have been to Nepal, it's a beautiful country, absolutely amazing. It's tradition in Gurkha families to each make their own personal "Kukri", they are personalized and always made by hand. Thanks for informing us about this rare opportunity!
Great Video! I have a Cold Steel San Mai Gurkha. I sent it out to get a Dura Coat job with some skulls. I cannot wait to get it back. Completely agree with the usefulness and effectiviness of the blade. BIG FAN!
I will definitely check out that place online, although I do not see the url.
Tom the kukri was designed as a tool before it was used as a weapon. the CS is way better at slicing as a full flat grind. the Nepalese blades from kukri house are built like tanks though but are not nearly as sharp as a CS blade. Both have their advantages and I went say go the same route that me and tom did and get both =]
Camera pans back: a family of neighbors are watching shocked with their jaws to the ground, the mom covering the little one's eyes--shock and awe! I love the Nepalese Khukuri especially the ones from Himalayan Imports (HI). I have quite a few heavy-duty choppers and my CS Gurkha feels like a machete in comparison at only half the weight. But HI make fast and light fighers too, not just choppers. Check out my collection in a bunch of vids on my channel :) cheers.
tradition has it the notch on the real Ghurka Khukris is so the user can draw blood from his own finger as he sheaths the weapon, (religious thing)
and also lets see you do the Khukri Dance!
