I actually go to Ohio University, and the asylum is right near here. It's really not that terrifying now. Ohio University bought all the buildings, and now The Ridges (as it's now called) is very pretty and serene. Not that that takes away from what happened there, but I don't think it's as haunted as everyone says.
Me & some friends went all scooby doo adventure crew there one night. It really was creepy but I didn't see anything. I started playing this old piano tho & I felt a really creepy presence like something just did not want me to be there playing that piano & I got really freaked out. I love Athens tho! Looking forward to going to college there soon!
the creepest thing about is that i dont live there but my my aunt phyliss does and i go there all the time and we live far above the city of athens and i still have seen some pretty werid stuff dont worry about the rude comments people they dont know nothing

Most of the stories were fabricated by people tripping out on lcd in the 60's and 70's where they would go to the local cemeteries and trip out. How dissapointing.

@Rulictar I remember this show when it was on TV, The Ridges definitely looked pretty scary even by asylum standards. 3 days ago I was at the former Weston State Hospital, it's the second largest hand cut stone building in the world after the Kremlin. She said she saw some scary shit like ghosts would sit at the ends of the beds.We did some research on this place pretty scary shit about the Dr.'s that use to preform lobotomys here.

Does anyone remember which show it was were there were 2 teams, or maybe it was 1 team with different contestants. Most of them were to remain in a control room and 1 or 2 of them at a time, with inward cameras, were 2 go out and explore deep inside abandond hospitals, prisons, etc. Each group of 1 or 2 were being told where 2 go and what 2 do via walkie talkies from the control rooms. If someone didn't complete their task or got scared, they were disqualified. Anyone remember please let me know
yeah i think it was Fear on MTV also. they ran contests in some of the same locations as seen in Scariest Places On Earth. I remember on one episode, a dude had to lay on top of a table that was used for autopsy or something for a period of time all alone. pretty scary stuff.
Yeah, it was some pretty scary stuff. I have some episodes of Fear recorded. I wish I had the equipment to get that stuff off a VHS and onto my computer. I know it can be done, I just don't know how or have the equipment. That's why I recorded it like I did.
You know whay you not the only one that watch this show. When these shows comes on I tape it for myself. I regonize that person that reads all the sentences. She is the one that plays in theses moviesto help to get the little girl back. She the one that plays the movie of ( Poltigest 1,2 & 3 ).

there is a building at the University of Notre Dame that is haunted by a priest...Also look up the Mansfield reformatory in OHIO, i thing it was part of this video series.
I grew up in the area and went to OU. Did my senior internship at the Athens Mental health center in 1989 and assisted in finding placements for the last of the patients before the hopital was moved in 1993. Never heard of any of this and I worked with staff and patients who had been there for years. This is a load.
I lived literally two doors away from the devil door my freshman year. The girls' bathroom is right near it. Nothing much ever happened... I sometimes heard creaking in the bathroom like someone was sitting on the toilet when it was like 2 in the morning or something. Once my tv turned off by itself. We even went into the "haunted room" once but it's all just loud machinery. It's not really as scary as this show made it out to be.
I do take 2 or 4 AM craps in the morning. People do that when they have diarrhea.. as so not to disturb and stink up the place when people are also using the restroom in the day/night time. :D
ok i live in oak hill ohio, its about 45 mins south of athens. i have many friends that go to the university...one that even lives in the haunted doorm. just down the hall. is that famous face of the devil...she has to walk past it everyday...when i visit i get chills. i have going to visit her because of it...but for thoses people who love a good scare on halloween...they allow you to go into the asylum for $50. if you make it to the top floor u get ur 50 bucks back and an extra 50.
I live near athens in millfield and I have been to Radar Hill at 3 in the morning...and I've been to the TB ward...it is a great way to have an adventure
The TB ward is pretty coo. I went fall quarter last year. I'm a junior now. We didn't get to see the stain in the other ward though :( It's boarded off.

Does anyone remember which show it was were there were 2 teams, or maybe it was 1 team with different contestants. Most of them were to remain in a control room and 1 or 2 of them at a time, with inward cameras, were 2 go out and explore deep inside abandond hospitals, prisons, etc. Each group of 1 or 2 were being told where 2 go and what 2 do via walkie talkies from the control rooms. If someone didn't complete their task or got scared, they were disqualified. Anyone remember please let me know

yeah i think it was Fear on MTV also. they ran contests in some of the same locations as seen in Scariest Places On Earth. I remember on one episode, a dude had to lay on top of a table that was used for autopsy or something for a period of time all alone. pretty scary stuff.

Yeah, it was some pretty scary stuff. I have some episodes of Fear recorded. I wish I had the equipment to get that stuff off a VHS and onto my computer. I know it can be done, I just don't know how or have the equipment. That's why I recorded it like I did.

You know whay you not the only one that watch this show. When these shows comes on I tape it for myself. I regonize that person that reads all the sentences. She is the one that plays in theses moviesto help to get the little girl back. She the one that plays the movie of ( Poltigest 1,2 & 3 ).

I grew up in the area and went to OU. Did my senior internship at the Athens Mental health center in 1989 and assisted in finding placements for the last of the patients before the hopital was moved in 1993. Never heard of any of this and I worked with staff and patients who had been there for years. This is a load.

I lived literally two doors away from the devil door my freshman year. The girls' bathroom is right near it. Nothing much ever happened... I sometimes heard creaking in the bathroom like someone was sitting on the toilet when it was like 2 in the morning or something. Once my tv turned off by itself. We even went into the "haunted room" once but it's all just loud machinery. It's not really as scary as this show made it out to be.

I do take 2 or 4 AM craps in the morning. People do that when they have diarrhea.. as so not to disturb and stink up the place when people are also using the restroom in the day/night time. :D

ok i live in oak hill ohio, its about 45 mins south of athens. i have many friends that go to the university...one that even lives in the haunted doorm. just down the hall. is that famous face of the devil...she has to walk past it everyday...when i visit i get chills. i have going to visit her because of it...but for thoses people who love a good scare on halloween...they allow you to go into the asylum for $50. if you make it to the top floor u get ur 50 bucks back and an extra 50.

The TB ward is pretty coo. I went fall quarter last year. I'm a junior now. We didn't get to see the stain in the other ward though :( It's boarded off.
