@TalrenElae It means despite Honda obviously having a lot of money they came up with something terribly ugly. But what do you expect. Car companies are in business to keep people thinking bikes are just sports/toys. If they had any sense of long term survival they would switch to making practical bikes fast. Cars are obsolete.
probably some of the guys commenting is owner of company some bicycle or mountain bike. so obviously they will say bad things cause probably honda might took the sales. so rise of the honda. skate board honda bmx honda roller blades honda and etc. lol.
you can clearly see they have no prior knowledge of building downhill race bikes...that said, this is a fckin sweet, boulder-bombing , tank of a bike, but l;ooks a lil heavy for racing
I want one so i can strip out that gearbox& throw in a little 125cc 4stroke engine ,ditch the carbon seat pyramid/support thingy....and turn that baby into a 5star trials machine!!! the project has been canned...the dream is over.....
@TheOfficialKC remember though, 4 stroke is much more reliable and smoother than 2 stroke, You also don't have to mix the gas and it gets better MPG. 125 is alot of power on a small bike frame.
@EpiDemic117 4-strokes actually have HUGE reliability problems in dirt biking now. 2-strokes last twice is long and it is half the price to rebuild. A trials 2-stroke is actually even more reliable and it is smoother than a 4-stroke. Plus significantly lighter(very important in this type of bike) Gas mileage doesn't matter as you wouldn't have to use it all the time and the price to buy and maintain would be lower.
@TheOfficialKC That is actually incorrect. Honda has proven that 4 stroke technology is smoother and more reliable. That's why they used them on The Cubs. The reason for their superior reliability is because the the connecting rod isn't lubricated by mixed fuel. They also Aren't as hot as 2 strokes. 2 strokes are also dirty engines, noisy and heavy polluting engines. That's why they stopped making most of them on dirtbikes.
@EpiDemic117 Apparently you just don';t ride dirt bikes. 4-stroke MX bikes have to be rebuilt twice as often as 2-strokes and the rebuilds are more expensive. A KTM 250XC-W has WAY WAY more torque and power than a 250F, weighs less, and has a wider powerband. And it isn't properly ported from the factory because it is based on the SX.
@EpiDemic117 If you have paid any attention to boat engines and snowmobiles you would also know that 2-strokes can get better gas mileage and produce less emissions than 4-strokes. While still being light weight, more powerful, simpler, cheaper and more reliable.
Go to a MX track and listen, 2-strokes are significantly quieter. Step back half a mile and it is more evident.
@TheOfficialKC 2 strokes are LOUD AS HELL. and always will be, especially on the street bikes from the 60's and 70's. 2 strokes are no longer used due to horrible emissions and reliability issues. The only area where 2 strokes are reliable is on the ones used in diesel locomotives. Which are a different form (they use engine oil) They do produce more power than 4 storkes. But they also pollute a hell of alot more and suck far more fuel than 4 strokes.
@EpiDemic117 You have absolutely no clue about what you are talking about. The AMA actually allows 2-strokes to be 2db louder than 4-strokes for MX because their sound travels half as far. Drive to a riding area and just sit down and listen. Guaranteed you will hear 90% 4-stroke exhaust because they are louder, especially with aftermarket exhausts. On trails 450s put out about 96db while a KTM 300 2-stroke is around 90db. Lower db and less traveling.
@TheOfficialKC 4 stroke super bike engines are quieter than 2 stroke superbike engines. You cannot argue with that. Exhaust systems pending. 4 stroke technology is better for many reasons, For 1 you do not have to mix the gas. 2 they DO have significantly less vibration (especially with a counterbalancing shaft. 3 they DO last longer because the connecting rods and crankshaft are lubricated by it's own internal oil resevuar.
@EpiDemic117 So lets compare a 1980s 2-stroke with a new 4-stroke. Yeah, nice try. Compare new with new. In the dirt bike world 2-strokes are quieter. In the snowmobile world they are as quiet. In the boat world they are quieter.
For boats I was going to buy a "new, amazing, quiet, no vibration" 4-stroke to replace my old 2-stroke. But what I found after testing engines was the 2-strokes were both quieter and vibrated less. Not to mention cheaper and MUCH lighter.
@EpiDemic117 Apparently your idea of beating the shit out of a bike is probably not doing any maintenance and not mixing oil/gas.
2-stroke MX bikes will go 60-100 hours on a top end. 4-stroke MX bikes go half that. When you have to rebuild a 2-stroke it will cost $200 while a 4-stroke will cost $400. When your 4-stroke blows up it will cost $2000. A major 2-stroke failure will cost $420.
@EpiDemic117 And you obviously have no idea about current 2-stroke technology do you? Ever heard of Direct Injection? Look up Evinrude, Optimax and Ski-Doo E-Tec.
Lighter, more powerful, cheaper, more reliable, simpler, and easier to maintain.
@TheOfficialKC and you obviously don't know a fucking thing about MOTO GP. and how 4 strokes replaced 2 strokes. 2 strokes are DIRTY engines. their emissions are horrible. That's why they no longer qualify. AND THEY ARE LOUDER.
@EpiDemic117 You know why 4-strokes replaced 2-strokes in MotoGP? AMA DISPLACEMENT RULES. What do you think is going to happen when you allow an engine to be DOUBLE the displacement and then later ban 2-strokes? Fair takeover? No, bought out.
You will never find anything about emissions from removing them because that never has, and still doesn't, affect racing.
@TheOfficialKC dirt bikes are also the most boring machines on the face of the planet. You don't you just Get a REAL motorcycle like a CBR1000 Repsol fireblade. or is that simply just to much bike for you to handle? oh wait, sorry it's a 4 stroke. It might be to much engine for you to handle.
@EpiDemic117 And you obviously did not do what I said. Look up E-Tec and Optimax. These are 2-stroke engines that you do NOT have to mix oil in your gas, in fact you don't even have to worry about changing your dirty oil and make a mess, you just add clean oil. They also get BETTER gas mileage and produce LESS emissions than competing 4-strokes.
By saying dirt bikes are boring just proved you are a complete moron.
if honda started making bicycles. All these other companies would probably go bankrupt due to the lack of innovation. the internal gear box is like nothing we've ever seen!
@EpiDemic117 Nope. It is WAY too expensive. They could never compete with the current bike manufacturers. Remember when Cannondale thought they could take over the dirt bike world? It was way more innovative then any Honda dirt bike but lasted a year or two.
@TheOfficialKC honda would be able to cut the price tag though. And alot of other bike makers out there suck. You buy a bike for 400 bucks and the piece of shit falls apart in a bout a few months. It's frustrating, and not that many innovations in this market have been made since the 70's. IT's complete bullshit. I see total potential in the market. But year after year every make out there produces the same crap. Reminds me of how harley davidson does it.
@EpiDemic117 There has actually been a lot of innovation. I am not big into the sport but I have even seen changes. Frame geometry is very different from 10 years ago. The switched to Aluminum frames and are now switching back to steel, as both types had advanced. Suspension setups have changed. Single sided forks. I don't even know all of it.
The next thing I have seen is the NuVinci transmission. I want to see one of those in a mountain bike.
@TheOfficialKC i'm talking bout the 400-500 dollar category though. Mostly everything out there is overpriced. Bikes they sell for 1000 they can sure as hell sell for 400. they are ripping us off.

@Shegal1535 All sounds good. Except the overweight, underpowered 4-stroke. Put in a Gas Gas 125cc 2-stroke trials engine. Or just buy a trials bike.
If I were to put a engine in a bike it would be to improve the downhill bike experience. 50cc or 85cc 2-stroke MX engine.
