  • i feel like redownloading project 64 to play pokemon satdium and pokemon puzzle leuge... and virtual boy for game boy games and GBA games

  • man, i love this video

  • Well done, I liked how you detalied even common knowledge of the games/show, after all there are people out there that have never watched the show (even being famous as it is there´s always someone), so it´s perfect

  • Just watched another bit where you're on about the pokeball in the middle of the stage lol... I'm not even gunna say anymore because everyone here knows what i mean so you wasted time making a video on that lol. This is a first rate epic fail I facepalmed like 4 times in 2 minutes lol

  • I'm so sorry, I just keep replaying 3:41 because it's so EPIC :'D

  • Even though there are simalaritys from the SSB pokemon stages and the pokemon games. I also tend to believe they are highly inspired by the anime other then the true pokemon games.

Also all the pokemon voices where taken from the anime.. as well as alot of the attack animations.

  • I see your trying to disprove what Cocobunji said.. but I do think there is truth in what he says.

In your conclusion you basically explain how Pokemon influenced this level in super smash bros... but I don't really say why you tried to prove this since it's indeed kind of obvious and no-one would argue it really.

I do like your style btw, it's like a persuasive essay with different media used. Well done, but then again, the topic is not really argueble since its fact ;)

  • lol my name is Joe

  • If you also noticed, Pokemon's Kanto has a similar shape to the real world's Kanto.

  • I have been playing pokemon for oh... since I was about 7 or 8 I think.. and now I'm 17, and I have been playing pokemon throughout most of that time along with watching the anime up to a point. Even though I knew most of what this guy said, it was still interesting to watch and obviously work was put in to it.. I enjoyed watching the pictures and video even if it did state obvious things, it was very much enjoyable an nostalgic, thank you for making this ^^

  • Oh my cousin had a 64 i played stadium on it! It was fun!

  • this is like telling us we don't kno wtf is around us for atleast 11 years dude... cmon the producer of brawl just try to make it mix match but still feel like the same field and i dont think they give a danm but they sure do get there money :).

  • dude you just explained why pokemon stadium is pokemon stadium...

    btw POKEMON FTW!

  • in the anime did they call onix, Iwark?

  • @Wlo689 yeah, thats its original name

  • Anyone notice the anime's announcer is the same one from Pokemon Stadium 1 for n64?

  • &:21 bellsprout's combo....

  • how do you make the camera spin ALL the way around in a full circle?

  • this was balls :(

  • I've watched a bunch of your other videos and loved them..this one was just kinda...obvious?

  • Agh these are freaking obvious observations.

"Pokemon Stadium is a game, and there's a Pokemon Stadium in Smash Bros, BET YOU DIDN'T KNOW THAT"

And really? Several minutes explaiing that a Pokeball represents Pokemon.

  • In Brawl, there is a Flying Stage and an Ice Stage. Also each stage has characteristic Pokemon living in it.

  • 7:13 - 2:21 I would love to see a Belsprout do that in the games. Sadly it's impossible...

  • I think that if they were to use the beta version symbols, they'd probably use the Fighting Energy symbol for the Rock Mode.

  • -favorites video-

This is a pretty cool documentary-like video.

Got me in the mood of playing my old versions. Too bad my Crystal version no longer works, but I shall be playing my old Red&Blue versions. =]

    Thanks.

  • i have pokemon crystal virsion and its the same thing

  • Kanto didn't have a name in gen 1? I could have sworn it had a name in the Japanese version..

  • how do you look around the stages?

  • LOOK!!! it's bruno at 4:16

  • Hmm, opening with a fight between nidirino and gengar, two of the first pokemon designed.

I wish nintendo used the games for the design instead of the anime

  • Comment removed

  • ...What?

  • pokemon manga is very different compared to the anime.

  • In gold and silver versions have a mistake, in a cavern that leads to the puzzle of ho-oh, this cave is located south. only can walk to south, and the ruins alph are located to north

  • wow,who thought some1 would put so much effort on something like this?:oits pretty awesome

....i wonder if any1 has done something like this but 4 brawl..........

  • 6:44-6:50 Sonic reference, anyone?

  • 7:15 to 7:19 lol

i always thought they got kanto from Cantonese :P

  • It is also believed that Hoenn and Sinnoh are based on the southern and northern islands of Japan, respectively. Hoenn doesn't EXACTLY match (even when your turn it 90* clockwise) the southern island, but Sinnoh matches the northern island almost exactly

  • i wonder where they got the pokeball idea from, as in the creator

    owo

  • I didn't know Kanto was a real place =O

  • in the anime one side is red and the other is green does that relate to the game?

  • Pfft, you're not very perceptive, are you? Nor do you have any common sense, do you?

...And I hardly call jizzing all over the place "interesting".

Also, I'm blocking your retarded ass. I can't have discussions with idiots who won't take the time to think about something for more than two seconds.

  • xD Good job

  • well wtf did you expect?

  • If u can do better, prove it. >(

  • Saffron City and Celadon City are based on parts of Tokyo.

  • 2:04 that Ditto is screwed.

  • Well in gold anyways.

  • You have the same name as I do!

  • yes since pokemon was created

THE POKEBALL WAS SYMBOL OF POKEMON :/

    Never noticed the pokemon cards?

    or the pokemon logo?

    Seen the anime?

    often a pokeball poping up?

    No?

    Fail.

  • 7:13 FAIL

  • how do you look 360 degrees on this map??

  • But the anime has to have something to do with it, otherwise they wouldn't have made Pikachu a fighter.

  • Yes, but Pikachu is a starter in said game, because he was Ash's starter in the Anime. So it indirectly comes from the Anime.

And Jigglypuff doesn't have a big rule in the games either, just in TV.

And those things like field changes and giant screens are only there in the TV series.

  • Yeah, maybe...

  • why does ash insist on using unevolved pokemo like squirtle and bulbasaur

  • @GigaGabo cuz ash thinks that he can be the best without making his pokemon "More Powerful" (evolving them)

  • @GigaGabo cos' he's a pussy =)

  • i used to watch the old anime every day b4 school... until they stop showing it. :C

  • lol me too dude

  • same here

  • You know, it doesn't really matter if it's day or night at a stadium, Most sport games take place at night. The screen in the background is very common in all sports, it always provide info for people watching the match as well as assist players in their current points.

  • At 7:14 I remember that episode also at 6:58 was that Gary,s Arcanine?

  • yes it was.

  • that game is 5 years old (or more)

  • I remember that battle with Ash taking on the Dragonite, That battle had an awesome ending!

  • Nice way of seeing how parts of the Pokémon games and the Anime were a big influence in SSBM, but there's one thing I can't get over in regards to the first episode of the Anime

    Onyx's Japanese name was "Iwark"!?

Good God, when I saw that, it made me think of Ewoks from Star Wars!(kinda makes me glad that they changed his name to Onyx, because it's more badass)

  • I find it strange that the names of the Pokémon change from country to country: for example here in germany one pokémon is called "Bisasam" in english it's "Bulbasaur" french is "Bulbizarre" and japanese " Fushigidane" it's kind of odd that every country has their own names for the pokémon (but a few ones keep their names, for example pikachu or Paras)

yeah...just wanted say that I find that strange and stupid^^

  • DUDE!!! if Pokemon Stadium didnt have the Pokeball in it, IT WOUDNT BE POKEMON STADIUM!!!!!

  • ...Well...yeah.

  • Not to mention that a lot of gymnasiums and stadiums have pokeball-shaped icons in the center.

  • the kanto region is also where pallet town the hometown of ash lies!

  • Very good, do you want a cookie? actually, its surprising how many pokemon fans DONT know that...

  • your real names joe? cause i saw the name on the pokemon blue/red menu at the beginning

  • your cool

  • OMG I NEVER KNEW THAT

  • .....wtf this is something that is totally obvious...if you had to think about this...your are very very very slow...

  • If you can't see the purpose of this video beyond what you exhibited in your comment, then common sense is obviously not your forté

Not even gonna mess with this one. BLOCKED.

  • that was really weird how it all connected. what was the Pokemon episodes called??

  • I wanna play RBY again....

  • Whoa, I never thought about all this. Your knowledge of Pokemon beats mine by OVER 9000!!!!

  • o.O

    I thought everyone knew this.

  • ess la comparacion mas weona q he visto

  • haz vos la comparacion en vez de tirar mierda saco weas

  • long but i thing that u are right that must have taken ages for u to figue that out 5 stars

  • duuh!

  • kool video, i just picked up smash bros melee yesterday and IM LOVING IT, also i never knew that Kanto was a region in Japan thanks for the edumacation lesson lol, and does any one kno which character is the best for beating that event where u have to KO only sheik's? im really struggling with that one, ive already tried Link and Bowser but failed, any tips?

  • I did it with captain falcon, but just try it and you just might get a luck win :P

  • you too bro.

  • i guess its a good thing tht we have ppl who notice stuff

  • wika you can check that on pokemon stadium 2, explaining that will take a lot O_o

  • only have the first so.. thanks anyways

  • There's a lot. Fire weak to water, ground, rock. Water weak to grass, electric Grass weak to bug, flying, ice, fire, poison Electric weak to ground Normal weak to fighting Flying weak to Elec, Rock, ice GRound weak to Water, ground, grass, ice Rock weak to fight, steel, ground, water, grass Fight weak to psychic, fly Psychic weak to ghost, dark, bug Ghost weak to ghost, dark Dark weak to fight, bug Poison weak to ground, psychic Bug weak to fire, rock, flying
  • Ice weak to rock, fire, steel, fight

    Dragon weak to dragon, ice

Steel weak to Fire, fight, ground

    Strengths are way too hard

  • idk where your getting steel from, but the others sound very helpful

    thanks a buuuuuuunch

  • m8 u think too much just play the goddamm games theres no killer behind all of those clues

  • charmander has big feet i think i'll sniff them i mean take them

  • no shit sherlock it's a fucking pokeball.

  • bad ass conclusions mista holmes

  • lol overannalyzed

  • Agree xD

  • uuuhhhhh... sure.

  • Where did u get the Pokemon English Anime

  • the poke ball is the logo of pokemon pikuchu is the mascaut to some people.

  • no duh the poke ball is the most used and importent part of pokemon.

  • Man, when someone who doesn't know jack about Pokemon sees Pokemon stuff, like in this vid, it makes me proud that I like Pokemon.

    Nice putting together!

  • Oh, one thing.

I have Brawl, and when I was playing on the old Pokemon Stadium stage, I paused and used the camera mode to take a look into the stadium.

It appears that there is some sort of grate underneath the stadium, so it's possible that the current stage gets sucked into the grate, and the new playing area is created.

  • Also I wish I could see those Pokemon episodes in Japanese.

  • G/S/C were the best Pokemon games! T_T

  • interesting, but we all knew it already

  • I was interested in this. Only it was more apparent than you protrayed it. But the format you used was a good yet confusing way to show it.

  • ROFL phyduk had a siezure

  • so.. onix injapan is Iwark

  • One thing, DUR!!!

Of course the stadium(or however you spell it) is supposed to look like it from the show. Everyone knows about field changes from pokemon. Everyone knows most pokemon battle fields have the pokeballl in the middle, so it doesn't matter if it was based off Pokemon Staduim.

  • Well, Sherlock, not all the Smashers had played Pokemon

  • why do you explain the obvious dude ???

  • Uhmm...I thought it was going to be some kind of joke (like...the funny ones), but...I don't know...SSB is working together with the Pokemon company, so...obviously they can do anything about any PKMN game/chapter...

It all have sense, but I'm still wondering, what do you want to prove with this? =S

  • In SSBM, wasn't there an ice stage in Pokemon Stadium?

  • nope olney in pokemon Stadium 2 from SSBB.

  • okay. i think that the stadium comes from the cartoon.

The fields are only scene at stadiums.

in the indigo league, in "round one bgin" and five eps later, the learn that the fields change randomly as pokemon fight which may help or hinder the types. ...Right?

isnt that how the stage was thought of.

  • That was pretty good!

  • Note: There is rock energy in the trading card game. Some people refer to it as fighting some as rock but its actually both

  • my favorites poke games were RED(not firered) and LEAFGREEN

  • 7:17 Bellsprout owns Bulbasaur in the face! LOL!

  • anybody notice of the ckip of the first episode of the first season when you first look at the stadium it has no pokeball...then when nidorino faints it has a pokeball design...anyways very well done

  • What was the purpose in this o.o" sorta pointless i guess there is similarity though

  • i didnt like this one, the brinstar one made sense, but pokemon stadium is pokemon stadium, no hidden shit, we all know thi sstuff

  • did anyone notice that the guy is wrong. The darkness isn't the first thing to notice, its the green pokeball. Thata the color of the pokeball in the begining of pokemon stadium.

  • Something else that's noteworthy is that he states that the first time the Kanto region was actually given its name was in Generation II. This is incorrect. The name Kanto was mentioned in Generation I, but only in the Japanese versions. Outside of Japan, the first time it was refered to as Kanto was in fact in the original Super Smash Bros.

  • how do you get a lvl 11 ditto?

  • i fk'ing love this map! :P

  • bulbasaur got his ass whopped by a bellsprout.

  • i heard the changes in the stage are from pokemon playground

  • The water and grass symbols at 5:56 are the same ones used in the card game. The the rock symbol is similar to the one at 5:42, so they could have just used that one should they have gone with the card symbols.

  • This was very interesting and informative thanks.

  • The first episode of Pokemon had the best opening ever. I mean, the part that had the Gengar VS Nidorana. That was also in the game.

    Very creative opening!

  • you can just push the A button by the water in Gold/Silver to surf you know. lol at the song though.

  • i think the stage transformations come from the pokemon league elite 4 areas. or it could be that in the anime in the kanto pokemon league, the stadiums had type sets like in the game. it could be based off the show.

  • :50 border patrol catches youth illegally entering the country. XD

  • u suck Silencer565

  • I did not mean ANY offense by this. I did not reference any Race or ethnicity. Everyone and their political correctness...

  • they should make a pokeymon statum with metlting ice

    breakable rock

    breakable trees

    hurting fire

a water tank with some ground like at 6:07

    in the next ssb serise

and use the original desinse and the signs at 5:55

  • I wish they would remake Gold and Silver just as it was when it came out for Gameboy Color. It remains my favorite for a lot of reasons...

  • fyi on brawl there is an ice stage for pokemon stadiun 2

  • in the japanese version of red it mentions kanto on the town map at the rivals house

also pokemon stadium is based off of the pokemon league arenas from the anime

  • You got to like that part where the greyscale Nidorino/Gengar turned anime.

    Mandy's hot.

  • all of this is freaking obvious

  • I couldn't agree more, this video was not really necessary

  • I realize this comment references soemthing that was released after this video but yeah, SSBB has the ice field you were looking for at the end. In anycase, good work compiling facts.

  • Uhhh... wow, i remember those Pokemon League episodes. Gott'a go watch them, they were good... And there was Krabby! ^_^

  • LOL bulbasaur got his ass beaten by a bellsprout!

  • He put forth proof and evidence, and that's what differs his work from pointing out the obvious, Einstein.

  • but there is a rock energy, It's just mentioned as power energy.

  • Rock could have been the fighting symbol. That's what it is on the pokemon TCG.

  • 04:21: Green Pokéball. Why?

  • Kurt the pokeball maker from Johto, anyone?

  • I never understood why Kanto was a Pokemon World's region. But now I do, thanks!!

  • hmm... i never noticed the crowd in melee

  • Thank you captain obvious duh this is where the map came from I don't think you need to explain this to anyone unless they are retarded.

  • fuck you Aqua-ass.

  • In the 8:17

    Donkey got hitted by windmill

    that's glitch

  • did besprout take steroids ? XD

  • lol ikr he just picked the frigging blubasaur up like it was nothing!

  • Hmm... I think it is like this because the Pokémon Stadium stage is linked to Pokémon. I really thought this clip was about analysis of where the idea about SSBB came from.

This is absolutely nothing special. It is like this because there was about to be a stage linked together with Pokémon.

  • that bellsprout was lol !! rofl

  • Congrats, excellent research !!!!!!!!!
