  • so this is not a micro 4/3rds camera and is in the same in the same line with The sony nex series right cause it has an apsc size sensor right?

  • FUJI is back again :-)

  • can you use a nikon flash or whatever flash that can be mounted on the hotshoe?

  • @kickople990 TTL is not supported on Non Fujifilm flashes. You can however use non Fujifilm flashes in Manual mode.

  • I stopped the video after reaching the part where he says they removed the built in flash

  • Lol he pretty nervus:p

  • Comment removed

  • @Rohhaut Not sure if i said that. If i did, then i take it back

  • @fujiguys Yep , both of you guys said so! On your vid about the x100 you tell us that interchangeable lenses are crap. Doesn't the X-Pro come with some expensive lenses? ? Don't get me wrong: I'll be one of your future customers, love both the x-100 and x-Pro...

  • @Rohhaut Perhaps you may have misunderstood. The benefits of a lens built in to the camera (X100) allows for better customization of the sensor to the lens to improve light efficiency and thus improved image quality over the ability of interchange lens system. It also helps to minimize the size of the lens. Saying that, with the X mount on the X-Pro1, we have the ability to reduce several key factors in image quality like the reduction of distance of the "Back Focus".

  • @fujiguys Hmm, I'll do some research on Fuji mounts. Anyway, great cameras and good videos.

  • @Rohhaut Also allows us to produce high quality Fujinon lens while keeping the physical size small.

  • Is it possible to connect the RR80 to x pro 1?

  • @Hapefra No. X-Pro1 offers a thread on the shutter release for a mechanical cable release.

  • no weatherseal :(

  • Wish they made a 15mm instead of 18mm and added a 23mm.

  • Nice camera, but wow it's big. That's definitely not going to fit in a coat pocket.

  • watching this video just makes me so angry. so many x100 owners spent so much money on their cameras, and we are still waiting for an update to all the many complaints that we have. and then this vid comes along to show us how they implemented 'improvements' to this camera based on x100 feedback. Then what about us x100 owners?

  • @foodmore Please be patient. Thank you.

  • Hi @fujiguys , does the x-Pro-1 come with the special sticky aperture blade issue like the x100?

  • @foodmore No, it comes with a good health portion of White Orbs instead j/k

  • Looks like an expensive Panasonic LC-1

  • ill stick with my Fuji x100 : )

  • I'm a Fujifilm fan, I've got the instax mini 7, instax 210 and the fantastic FujiX100 which I like a lot. I think Fuji has done a very good job with the FujiX100 and X10. The new release Fujifilm X-Pro one is a master piece of engineering, an upgrade camera with interchangeables lenses that all the fuji fans were waiting. Thanks Fuji for making such a camera; a second to none.

  • Hope they seal that viewfinder I had my x100 less than a week & dust got into finder. That's not not good enough on a camera at that price. I'm interested in getting one but they need to seal them like Nikon & Canon seal there pro cameras.

  • @fujiguys Wow. Thats pretty darn awesome that this camera in image quality is equal to a Full Frame camera.. Go Fujifilm! :)

  • @giantiger12 The benefits of Full Frame Cameras are not necessary all about image quality. A key benefit of course is that photographers can take advantage of the actual focal length of their lens without having to see a crop factor. So a 35mm lens would be 35mm on a FF camera and not effectively 50mm'ish (APS-C)

  • @fujiguys Very true, with the FF having the benefit if considerably higher low light/noise performance (AKA, cleaner images at ISO3200). Also FF gives a much greater DOF, in comparison. So a fast lens will have a much more pronounced Bokeh.

  • @fujiguys That's true that people like using wider lenses on film, yet when was the last time you shot wider than 27mm for photojournalism or anything besides landscapes?

Aside from that, Fuji is killing us on the price. I thought it was supposed to be $1700 with the 1.4 as a kit initially? Just a little lame.

If X Pro 1 with lens (or adapter) was less expensive than a D700 or 5D MKII with similar lens... this would be a lot better choice for many people.

  • @fujiguys P.S. Bravo on the 1/3rd stops though guys, that's freaking brilliant.

And now I've got a question for you guys... we are paying $600 per lens. If fujifilm decides to release an X mount Full Frame camera in the future, will these lenses be usable *without* any vignetting/loss of features? Or are we just paying a high premium for a sharp DX lens?

  • @CartierBressonftw The current lenses are not made for Full Frame cameras.

  • Is it possible to control the shutter via USB Port?

  • @Hapefra Sorry, No it is not possible.

  • This camera is gorgeous looking. But, i think, that right now, there is a big amount of people who want a REAL RANGEFINDER DIGITAL CAMERA, alternative to the ONLY available in the market (The M9) Too many "Pro" point and shoot... but GOD a FUJI RF would be SO GREAT, I could actually buy it. Im still hoping for a Fuji Super Pro 1000 RF.

  • Yes, a camera that has the minimal body of film but the new age tech of a digi. I hope this thing hands on is as good as it is in concept. I look forward to testing it out.

  • When will Fuji be releasing a few of these units to reviewers? I am very anxious to see some reviews.

  • @CyCreativeMedia Reviewers should be able to get them hands on one in Feb.

  • @fujiguys Any word about when Fuji will deliver retailers a final price so that people can begin to pre-order? Is Fuji taking into account the prices of similar ILC's like the Nex 7 and the new Olympus OM that is said to be coming soon?

  • @CyCreativeMedia Pricing on the X-Pro1 are not yet confirmed. We will provide pricing once we find out from Tokyo.

  • @fujiguys How about parts two and three of the first look video series for the X-Pro1? Will we see that before we see a price or before it is available for sale?

  • @CyCreativeMedia Yes, I should be receiving my pre-production samples the end of this week (hopefully). Then i can start filming the other parts. Thanks.

  • @fujiguys Did you guys get the pre-production samples yet?

  • @CyCreativeMedia Yes, but the are moving around the country with some sales reps right now.

  • @CyCreativeMedia But not sure exactly when in Feb.

  • Fujifilm is blowing the digital photography world out of the water and leaving everyone else in the dust. The people in that company are simply amazing.

  • So wait! The image quality in this camera is better than a Full Frame?

  • @giantiger12 In terms on resolving power (sharpness), yes due to the high quality lens and removal of "Low Pass" optical filter. In terms of low-light capabilities, it is equal to Full Frame cameras.

  • The ONLY thing wrong with it, as far as I can see, is the flash sync speed. If it could be electronic (Think D40, D70s, etc), meaning; flash synch right up to the 1/4000th of a second. Then I'd sell my d70, d7000 and all the lenses etc.

  • Have you fixed the view finder on the xpro1 so that what you see is what you get? that was one of the reasons why i didn't buy the x100 the view finder is a bit too random.

  • @Cybernought1 The viewfinder was not 100% operational on the camera i was using (still prototype) so i can't comment.

  • Hey the cleaners messed up your picture display on the wall. I'd fire em..

  • Hi Fuji dudes... can you tell me when this camera is expected to be released and at least a ball-park estimate as to how much its going to cost? Lastly... this camera looks great and is a huge improvement over the x100 (although I prefer its smaller and retro look), but why couldn't you have made a telephoto lens for this camera?

  • @skcuspmcr The X-Pro1 will be available in March, 2012. Pricing is not yet confirmed from Tokyo but would definitely be under $2000 CDN/US (body only). High quality prime lens will be offered first. There are plans for a high quality zoom len of course.

  • just give up fly by wire, it doesn't work....please....

  • nice camera. what a nerds.

  • After watching and waiting for someone, for anyone, to design a sensible high quality digital camera, I think Fuji finally has. This is the first semi-pro/pro level digital camera I've seen in years that has the right balance of features, controls, and functionality. As long as the IQ is as good as promised, I think I've found my next system.

  • Not much has been mentioned about the enormous dynamic range of this camera. Fujifilm has this nailed. Tests will show this little camera has a wider dynamic range of any current camera manufactured in the world... amazing. If you have never seriously used a Fuji camera in recent years (like the S-5 Pro, for example), you don't know what you are missing when it comes to image quality.

  • Nice work guys.

  • will this be shipping with white orb 2.0

  • @shenzenchild Goose!

  • @shenzenchild Includes Excellent IQ 3.0. White orbs sold separately.

  • Am I the only one bothered by those poorly framed and crooked pictures in the background?

  • @jumpaz123 No. I am too but was in the rush to film prior to CES.

  • 01:10 I don't like this look. And by the way, repeating after BoxxyFan, what is wrong with X100's autofocus. It is so slow. Can you finally release some sufficient update please?

  • @ego78th Don't buy it.

  • @huch1966 Why so butthurt about other people seeing this camera for the wildly overpriced thing that it is? It's for people who want to be noticed and taken seriously- who want to be called artistes. It's for photogs with more money than ability, who think to be a great photographer it's all about owning the Leica- I mean the Leica wannabe.

  • For those who want the old-style helicoil manual focus lenses - and I agree, they are more intuitive to use - there's nothing to stop you from attaching M-mount or even L39 mount lenses to this camera using adapters. Fly-by-wire probably assists in making the AF faster and less cumbersome, which on an AF camera is pretty important

  • Will there be a zoom lens available OR is the plan to stick with Prime lenses?

  • @nidwannaya Of course, more lens including zoom will be developed.

  • no stereo input jack?

  • @sing601 No.

  • Hey Fujifilm, where is my x100 firmware update?

Auto focus on the x100 is very slow and often misses focus completely in low light situation.

Manual focus on the x100 is completely un-intuitive and takes dozen of turns to go from macro to infinity.

Do you think people will want to invest in your X-Pro1 system if your support for existing products is so abysmal?

  • @BoxxyFan You're 100% correct. I bought an X100 and sold it within a month of owning it. Best compact camera in the world with some of the worst firmware/software ever designed. I never had a camera get in the way of taking pictures like that one...but when it worked OMG the shots were gorgeous. Praying they've addressed some issues here...particularly manual focus. The lens should have a real MF ring, not this fly by wire crap.

  • @BoxxyFan I am pushing for more updates the X100 of course. We will have to wait for now. i understand all your concerns.

  • I see a man talking but I hear a woman's voice, it's just a little confusing

  • @Manuellaborer

    What a hero.

  • I hope it's better at taking pictures than Fuji employees are at hanging them.

  • @shinybbq That's interns for you.. I have to hang them myself next time :-)

  • You can shoot Astia?

  • looking at the way things are going I'm sure Fujifilm will soon release the top of the range fullframe, super high-spec X-Pro model. Def looking forward to seeing that.

  • Very much looking forward to reviewing this camera in person. Could this camera sound the death knell for Leica?

  • Very excited about the X-Pro 1 higher spec/interchangeable lenses, shame the beautiful classic duo-tone design of the X100 was ditched for the mainstream and very conventional all black design. The X100 was the first major success for Fujifilm primarily for the classic rangefinder design, supported by high quality build, great functionality which helped place it into a league of its own. It's important to remember that design plays a very significant role in the appeal of the X series...

  • @vxtra2511 I like the two tone silver and leather look on the X100 too. But then when we released the X100, the other camp wanted "All Black". You can't win....

  • @SLRist no obsession really. I think that focus depends on the situation and most of the time auto is bang on. I do think that if they are giving the option of manual focus then they should have a good one.

I have got used to the focus by wire on the X100, and find that it is very good for very small adjustments (macro or still subjects) the reason I bought the X100 was for low light though and it still amazes me! Actually, 'real' manual focus does help in low light.

    I am really excited about

  • Hi Fuji Guys,

When will you make a show on X100 trouble to explain how to verify if our X100 get the exposure issue ?

    Stop to buzz just repair...

  • @gpsnail I assume you are talking about the shutter sticking and causing incorrect exposures. We only had a few that we repaired under warranty. Currently, have not had any new ones. If your camera is experiencing this issue, please contact our service centre in your area for additional support.

  • @fujiguys Yes, you are right, I'm talking about this issue. I supposed you know but I'm surprised as in France more than 160 were sent to support service... Probably, you could tell a few but I'm not sure that it's the case.

  • 2 things on the wish list for Fujifilm X-Pro1:

    a. Push buttons for ISO and WB that works with command dial like Nikon & Canon SLRs

    b. Manual focusing that works like old manual lenses, say Leica/older Nikon like. Not electronic assisted manual focusing like X100.

    1 wish for next X-Pro2:

Bigger Sensor with best low light shooting ability and IQ

  • @snoorani1 - Personally I'd prefer a dedicated ISO dial. Bigger sensor means bigger body and lenses. You might as well buy a DSLR at that point. Who actually uses manual focus these days? The only time I ever use it is for macro work and pre-focusing. In both those instances, fly-by-wire manual is perfectly adequate.

  • @SLRist i doubt bigger sensor has to mean bigger camera. Leica M9 with full frame sensor is not much bigger.

manual focusing can be very fast specially when one photographs same scene, expression, etc. for instance when one is interviewing a person. nothing is moving, nothing is changing distance wise, except perhaps one's expression. with manual focus, once focus is achieved, all one has to do is wait for the right moment and shoot. with auto focus, one has to focus anew after every shot.

  • @SLRist There are always two camps. You can't win. Bring out AA's and everyone is screaming for Li-ion. Bring out silver and everyone is screaming for Black. Like the M9, bring out MF and everyone is screaming for AF.

  • @snoorani1 There will be M mount adapter, so You can use all Your Leica lenses as well :)

  • @snoorani1 a. Q button works well for both ISO and WB. You can always set the Fn for ISO and use the Q button for things like WB. b. MF works much better than X100.

  • It is great that you have made some changes based on feedback from the X100, but the single biggest complaint on the X100 is the quite useless manual focus ring....and you have added it to this camera?? People HATE it! I love my X100, but that focus is terrible.

  • @sozurface 100% agreed. We want manual focusing that works like old school manual lenses, if not like new Nikon AF. Simple, nothing fancy, just plain manual focusing. When one switches to manual focusing, one wants to manually focus, not electronically assisted manual focusing that does not work. PLEASE do something.

  • @snoorani1 understood.

  • @sozurface - Just curious - why the obsession with manual focus?

  • Olympus will announce a new “PRO level camera” and a “line of new products“. It’s a “revival” of the glorious OM camera series. Look out Fuji....

  • Focal plane shutter that only syncs at 1/180.

A step backwards from the X100 in my eyes, and the number 1 reason I won't be buying this camera. I think i'll waste my money on a black X100 instead.

  • @fujiguys Could you please tell your company "brain" that it would also be very sensible to bring along that quite essential 14mm (35mm-equiv.: 21mm) lens a bit sooner than NEXT year?! Danke.

  • @87solarsky we will consider different lens for the future.

  • @Esrhan Pointless comment.

  • Comment removed

  • ...no flash....i dont use it much but...sometimes..you know. However I love the the small flash that it has.

  • Why was it not possible to keep the X1 pro's dimensions more in line with those of the X100 ? not a big problem still looks wonderful .

  • @tiberiousgracchus i guess one needs space to spread around buttons.

  • @tiberiousgracchus has to do with the Hybrid Multi Viewfinder. There are 2 magnification glasses that slide in and out.

  • Does it have the same CRAP autofocus and UNUSABLE manual focus like the X100? I will not invest a single $ in your company if you dont fix the focus problem on my X100. Buyers beware!

  • @DrBukcake AF is much improved over the X100. Faster. Even MF

  • @DrBukcake AF faster than X100, MF improved over X100 but firmware on camera was not final so i have to wait and see how much faster over X100.

  • Guys please fix the alignment of your picture frames!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways, it's too bad it's huge compared to X100. Not very pocketable :(

  • @retrospective Yes, Picture frames need to be re-done. Rushing to film this video prior to CES.

  • At time 17:21 Billy says, "It's a beautiful design camera. Again very minimal, very stylish." For $1700.00 camera body only, people don't want minimal. $1700.00 should get you all the features under the sun in a NON-MINIMAL design! Give your head a shake Fujifilm! Go find the marbles you lost cause all $1700.00 says to me is, YOU'RE GREEDY!!! BTW the term 'Pro' = full frame sensor. Nice mislead in the naming here. Typical Fujifilm!

  • @BasemanForever 1700$ is the kit price. Who actually uses "all the features under the sun" on their DSLR? "Pro" does not mean full frame sensor. I know lots of pros that still use a D300 or 40D or M8, all APS-C.

  • @imkillingzoe No, $1700 isn't a 'kit' price! I watched the CNET press coverage and it was announced $1700 for camera body only and the lens's would be $650 in addition to the body price!

  • @BasemanForever i would have to agree with Pro' = full frame sensor. seriously. Leica tried that with M8 and that was a huge mistake.

  • @BasemanForever Don't watch the video, don't but the camera, simple.

  • @BasemanForever Pro means you make money from your photo's. Pro doesn't mean "Full Frame". If you have a "Full Frame" camera, are you a pro?

  • I think ii's just a bit too expensive compared to the mft and sony nex system

  • Great! But straighten those goddam pictures on the wall behind you. It doesn't say much for your framing skills when shooting. Use your electronic horizon to get 'em right. You won't see pictures hung like that on any wall in Wetzlar. C'mon guys, Page One, Rule One. Set a good example to your rapidly increasing fanbase! Loveya'.

  • You guys didn't offer Silver Metallic color options for the X Pro 1 :(

  • Sorry guys, I like Fuji but this one is not right, Fuji is trying the impossible, to clone Leica, besides that, the camera is really big, they could have put a 35mm fullframe sensor on it, that way the word Pro makes sense, but with an APS-c sensor NO.

Anyway, it is a good effort from Fuji, the retro look may appeal many, and one thing I am sure, the sensor will deliver good image quality, without the AA filter, good idea Fuji.

Let's see if they can make more than 3 lenses

  • Oh I want this. I want this. I want this. I need this!

  • (…)The viewfinder magnification, equal to 0.37 x for 18mm lens and 0.60 x for the 35mm and 60mm.(…). 0,60 x for the 53 mm equiv. Pfff ! Sh… ! Was waiting for 0,70 x, at f….g Least !! Am i the only one who love to shoot both eyes wide open !! it’s very sad, knowing all the rest is terrific !! what a cruel world :-+

  • I want to see the focus in action, its the only thing holding me back from pre ordering. I still dont understand why Fuji decided to stick to the focusing "by wire" method. I have never heard anybody say "you know what I love about the X100? The focus ring!"

I know about the AE button on the back and how that works but I prefer my MF to be done with a rangefinder as opposed to letting the camera go through the full range until it finds focus.

  • old school aperture ring

  • Why are these guys talking to each other and looking at us. So awkward. Straight man on the left.

  • GREAT !

When the X100 came and I saw the result I thought if it were an interchangeable lens cam I'd buy it and if the ISO 6400 result looks OK to me I'm certainly going to buy this X-Pro1 ,the sample images are all in ISO 200 except one in ISO 1600 which looks OK to me but fingers crossed for some real ISO and performance tests .

I have one big reservation and that is of short battery life "approx 300 frames",which means it's gonna be around 250 ,my D7000's battery can take 1200+ shots easily !

  • Does this one takes 312 turns on the lens too for manual focus?

  • @DrBukcake No, it takes 313 turns :-). MF is improved over the X100 but firmware is not final on the X-Pro1. I have asked for future updates to speed MF including the ability to jump in larger increments as your spin it quicker (including X100). We will have to wait and see.

  • Does this one come with sticky blades too?

  • @DrBukcake and optional "White Orbs" :-)

  • Why did this require two guys??

  • @keithdunlop why do you commeny??

  • why is the other guy even there...what a bad setup for a channel about two guys

also, i was skimming through the video, and i didn't hear any mention of AF performance. I'm gonna take that as a hint that that's not a strength of the camera? Which at the price it's being sold at, is a bit of a disappointment.

  • @cmgreen4 Yes, i do all the work while the other guy just sits there. As for this video, the camera was in an early prototype stage, in fact, when i press the shutter, the camera locks up (had to remove the batteries).

  • Awesome camera. BTW, you should fix the alignment of your pictures on the wall behind you. It is distracting.

  • kereenn banjeettss

  • Wonderful new camera development, and a terrific review. Makes me want to move away from DSLR shooting. Thanks again, Fuji.

  • fuji guy says "you asked we did it". we actually asked to fix the X100. where's that?

  • Still focus by wire? Where did you get your customer feedback?

  • Fujifilm manufactures robots too?

  • What does "pro" even mean anymore? Fuji's claims this is a pro cam only to justify the pricing. I wish they would say 'it is a niche camera, has a unique sensor, and we are taking a risk.' For weddings, DSLRs are more flexible. 1/125 X-sync? not a pro feature in 2012.

A few pros shoot with the M9 (similar styling to the X-pro1, different focus mech), but even recent Leica advocates & wedding shooters like Jeff Ascough now use DSLRs. Photojournalist Sebastião Salgado also now uses DSLRS.

  • Is that factory thin hand grip removable?

  • @cyberprimate No. Not designed that way.

  • This and the 35mm 1.4 please

  • Can you dedicate the thumb-wheel to ISO control? Nice to see the pointless RAW button has gone.

  • @SLRist No. You need to press the FN button first (if FN is set for ISo control)

  • It looks good. It would be interesting to know if the x100 firmware could be updated to have the new navigation. I would be interested in an x100 upgrade program hah.

  • $1,700 body only. Rip off designed for rich people.

  • @ar4216 - It's a pro body at pro prices. Would you say the Nikon D3s was a rich man's camera? This is more like the Thinking Man's Leica. They really are designed for rich people.

  • @SLRist This does not qualify as a pro body- regardless of what the Fuji marketing bs says. As far it being a "Thinking Man's Leica"- it's not a rangefinder. But for you to even use a phrase like that means that the Fuji marketing has worked on you. This is a stylish camera with a nice selection of lenses at launch. But it's too expensive. This is a camera designed for people who are more concerned with status symbols than photography- the wannabe Leica owners. And the price is a rip off

  • @ar4216 magnesium alloy body with innovative sensor with equivalent FF resolution and hybrid viewfinder do not fall into the pro category? Although the full potential of this camera is yet to be seen, yet the ergonomic and image quality alone fully justify the price. In fact, $1700 is a bargain for me.

  • @ngso0009 Magnesium? WOW! Not. The Nex 5 is magnesium and it's around $400 now- with lens. The viewfinder looks like it will be nice though. The camera is a nice camera. But $1,700 for body only? That's laughable. Fuji is charging a premium to those people who value style over substance. The images I've seen are not that impressive and I seriously don't think many pros will consider this a serious challenge to full frame.Honestly, a Canon 5D Mark II is only about a hundred dollars more

  • @ar4216 you are comparing apple to orange, no one is in the right mind will compare 5DMII with x-pro 1. This camera is not meant to challenge dslr. Put the style factor aside, if you think $400 sony+lens are able to produce equivalent or better image than xpro-1, go for it. I suspect that you need to attach a more expensive manual focus big lens to top the quality of x-pro 1 package with $1700+500.

  • @ngso0009 You mentioned the magnesium as if it's something extraordinary- I'm just pointing out that the Nex 5 has a magnesium body and can currently be had for around $400 new. This is a niche camera for well heeled consumers who put a premium on style. $1,700 body only and lenses in the $650 range. The pricing for this camera is nuts. People should not try and justify it in terms of it being good value- because it's not. You can go full frame for what Fuji is charging for this.

  • @ar4216 no one is making you buy it.

  • @ngso0009 This is a camera for the Leica crowd and the wanna be Leica crowd. That's fine. But let's not try and claim this camera is somehow anywhere close to being good value.

  • @ar4216 it is good value if it fits into ur bill, it is called niche market for reason

  • @ar4216 - Just because you can't afford something doesn't make it too expensive. The M9 is a trinket. Manual only focus makes it a plaything. It's not suitable for anything where speed is required. My X100 has equivalent IQ performance to my D700 and pro glass. That makes 'pro' quality. I think we can expect the new Fuji to meet or exceed the performance of the X100. There's nothing aspirational about it. With the Fuji, you're paying for excellent quality lenses and innovative design.
