  • And John Lennon got a lot of help from Paul McCartney writing his songs as well. Don;t even put Denny Laine on the same level as Paul McCartney, not in this lifetime or any other. He's a nobody. Don't get all sentimental and start crying for him. Paul didn't go crying around saying he needed a mom (yoko) and that Paul is more popular than me. The WUZZ. I loved his Beatles work, his solo work is depressing at best, apart from some hits. I really have to get in the mood for his junk.

  • FAT MACCA STANDING NEXT TO MR LAINE - HA HA - WINGS REUINON..WHAT A JOKE - GET A FUCKING LIFE LAINE - WRITE YOUR OWN FUCKIN SONGS! :(

  • @MrFukitt - Well i've got the original 1977 single in my hand and I can quite cleary read the words:

    "(McCartney- Laine)"

I don't know if that's enough proof to overrule your big scary capital letters though...

  • @gakirkham - heres a couple of more scary words for ya ... FUCKKKK OFFFFFF !!

  • Ah, Denny Laine... makes me remember my childhood days. Thanks for share this video.

  • HAha, at times it looks like the bassman is about to hit Denny 'round the head with that bass :P

  • bass killed the video star

  • Denny wrote most of this song; the "help" came from Paul. They split songwriting royalties 50/50 on this song for years until Denny asked Paul to "buy out" his half a few years ago. Denny needed the money.

  • Paul has written alot on his own- but on some songs he got a 'little help from his friends' on Wings songs he got help from Laine, and Beatles songs help from John

  • Ma ra vi lho sa,thanks.....................

  • The song was Paul McCartney and Wings' biggest hit in the United Kingdom where it became Christmas number one, and was the first single to sell over two million copies in the UK!

  • its unfair to compare singers- all people and singers are all unique and best at what they do

  • This was the Wings reunion probably--there have been 3 Wings (wuthout Paul and Linda) reunions, since Denny Laine co-wrote some WIngs music like Mull of Kintyre--however its not the same wihtout Paul/Linda in my opinion--just like the Beatles, WIngs was best all together nto individuals

  • Is That Gary in the Bass?

  • I stand corrected if Mr. Laine co wrote the song with Sir Paul. I would love to hear them sing it together but I reckon that's as likely as Dallas, Texas moving to Liverpool, England, right?

  • @Sunriseatnoon yes- Paul a nd Denny dislike eachother now- for Paul its yet another band breakup for Denny it was Paul's ego and taking all the credit that bugged him..-Paul said hed never reunite with his old bands

  • This is fantastic!! But 2daft4u you would have been fine except you had to go and insult Sir Paul McCartney, You can't do that. Most of the whole world loves his singing. Me included. But Mr. Laine would be the grabber considering Sir Paul wrote the song!

  • Paul McCartney wrote songs like "Eleanor Rigby" "Hey Jude" "Yesterday" and "Let it be" all by himself. Your comment is just stupid and pretty laughable. Paul McCartney has been called the new Mozart because of his genius.

  • paul is the king paul mccartney not this

  • Denny Laine WROTE this....NOT Paul, so he has the bloody right to sing it, and he does it true justice...Paul will get his just deserts, for screwing Denny, as well as everybody else.

  • I thought they both did writte this tune and Macca bought Denny's rights in 75.000 pounds... ha ha ha ha, can you blame good old Macca for being such a great negociator?

  • he is not a negotiator, he is a SHEISTER. Big difference!

Probably why I am not sorry that MJ bought up his 'Northern Songs" only to pawn them off to cprporations like Nike, who used Paulie's songs in a commercial....funny, you'll never hear MY brother's songs in any commercial, and he is more than "(just a) singer in a rock and roll band"...trust me!

  • Your brother??????, well... I'm sorry for the tone of my answer. And I wouldn't doubt for a second that Denny is more than just a great singer and a great guitar player. If you please, tell him he's got a big fan here in Chile and I love "The note you never wrote", a jewel!!

  • Hi,

Well sorry for my tone as well. Just that not too many people know the history...actually I was quoting John Lodge, who is my brother not Denny, tho Denny surprised us all when he showed up at our son's send off to Iraq a couple of years ago, 29 Palms Ca being not too far from Vegas.

But denny is close to us, and I will tell him your regards. Cheers,

    Joy

  • John Lodge!!, I admire him as well, very powerful song writer and very good bass player. Thanks for the kind answer. All the best!!

  • I really hope that happens Sylphqueen, PM is so far far up his own rectum he has never appreciated the people around him that made 'his' music, he really thinks he did it all by his little self. WE the real people know the truth about 'Macca'. And so does Sir George Martin.

  • You're kidding yourself if you think Paul McCartney has no credibility amongst real music fans, he only wrote many of the greatest songs of all time. Who cares what he is like as a real person, it's the music that matters. I don't know him personally & doubt I ever will, but his music is first rate!

  • well said.beatlesrgod!!!

  • The simple peaceful melody is what makes it nice. Let's hear one of ur dead grandma's songs...

  • Denny Laine is amazing. He's fit, well sexy and is a national treasure!!!

  • There we are you see...."everyone" believes Mac wrote MoK on his own...and it takes (effectively) a tired-looking nobody to remind us that actually he wrote the words, and so what if BC didn't like them....this man wrote the words of this song.

  • I think it's very decent of Denny Lane to accept some of the blame.

  • :-)

  • Please don't spoil the song! GO HOME and fucking retire!!!!

  • Singer, that should have read.

  • I saw the Moody Blues live not long after they made 'Go Now,' when Denny Laine fronted them. He's a much better sing that McCartney ever will be.

  • much better singer than McCartney ever will be? Oh please, get your head out of your aZZ please!

  • thanks for this, funny isn't it how the best even got better when Justin joined? But people forget what the Moodies were like with Denny and he sure is a true talent:)

  • thank you:)

  • I heard Denny was co-composer of this song but Mccartney deleted his name. Is it true?

  • False. The last collection of Wings, tittled Wingspan, a double CD edition, indicates this credit to 14th song, Mull of Kintyre: "Composed by Paul McCartney and Denny Laine".

  • My understanding is that McCartney purchased complete publishing rights to the song from Laine.

  • Always loved this song!!! Good to see Denny still playing it.

  • It´s nice to see to an old friend. Cheers.

  • he is so older now = ( i love when he was young in wings = ( great video!!!!!!!
