How am I both wrong and stupid, comrade? Question for ya: What does Mr. Kovel think about the writings of Karl Marx? I believe Kovel thinks they make sense. Argal, he's a communist, and communism is always bad. Communism ALWAYS brings terror. Every link in the chain is there, my dear Watson.
Hi. Marx wrote the blueprint for the Gulag with that part about, "Oh, yeah, don't worry, the State will wither away." Yeah, give us unlimited power, we'll make everything right for you, and then we will wither away. You can trust us. We won't hurt the Kulaks.
Actually he writes about a powerful state as an intermediary stage btw. revolution and the state's withering away. And he couples that intermediary stage with democratic decision-making.
You might as well say that John Madison wrote the blueprint for the welfare state when he proposed replacing the Articles of Confederation.
Or that Darwin wrote the blueprint for eugenics when he wrote of the notion of survival of the fittest as a mechanism of natural selection.
Well, Marx may have wrote about this-or-that, but he gave us Red China and the Soviet Union. Do you like Karl Marx? Darwin did, in fact, wittingly or unwittingly, make possible the application of eugenics to human processes. The Articles of Confederation and the U.S. Constitution are no longer relevant or active.
How about this? Can you give us some concrete proposals of Kovel? What kind of programs would he like to implement? Does he differ significantly from the Obama administration? As I understand it, there are more than six billion humans on the planet. Would Kovel say that is too many? Would you consider Kovel a friend of the First Amendment? Etc.
No, I didn't watch the video because I find him a poor communicator. Support for this assertion can be found in the fact that you could not give us a few of Kovel's ideas. Apparently you couldn't get through the video, either!
Yeah, capitalism produces a lot of waste, but not as much as Red China. Human beings are the problem here. Something has to be done about them.
So, what does Kovel think about Marx? I understand if you wish to avoid this question.
You have to be an idiot not to recognize that China is capitalist.
I didn't give you "a few of Kovel's ideas" because they're right here in the video, so you might want to listen to it before trolling for days on end.
I'm not surprised that you see humantiy as the problem - it's typical of your sort of mindset.
How many human beings are too many? Ten billion? Twenty billion? Fifty billion? How many is too many? It's not rats or roaches causing global warming. Shame on us.

Am I wrong, or does this guy want to bring back the Gulag?

Both wrong and stupid, John.

Where does Marx write about the GULAG?

Let's just simplify. Adam and Eve gave us Red China and the Soviet Union.
inbrooklyn2008 3 years ago
They had almost as much to do with the Soviet Union as Karl Marx did.
inbrooklyn2008 3 years ago
I've seen many a banner in both the Soviet Union and Red China with Marx on it, but I don't recall any with Adam and Eve.

Sure, Johnabraytis, I happen to have seen "Democratic" in the official name of North Korea. Maybe you buy that as well.

Did you watch the video? No need to, right?
He'd tell you that the capitalist economy produces unnecessary waste
As for the First Amendment, it's not his subject. (He's an environment advocate.)
But do show me where he's against it, silly. :-)
