I guess the VIA schedule was different then since you can only see this train come from the west at 19:30-20:30 and from the east at 12:00.And also does VIA 2 still come into Winnipeg on Friday because I tried 2 different times on Friday but didn't see it.
From all the years I lived in portage, I never saw a train like that! Just the old freight train with box cars! What time in the morning was that? Must have figured Portage is nothing special and on their way to Winterpeg?
That is VIA's Canadian passenger train. It is due from the west at 09:56 and from the east at 18:05 (6:05 PM). I'm not sure when I saw the train but I don't think it was much after 10 AM.

@VanBilly1 Yes, the schedule was definitely different then.
No Canadian arrival on Friday... leave Edmonton Wednesday midnight and arrive Winnipeg Thursday night.

There are two sleeper cars in the front of the train. Obviously, they are a deadhead.

This is a nice video, where about was it filmed. Anywhere in Ontario?

It was filmed in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, just west of Winnipeg. It's a great spot with the CN and CP mainlines running next to each other.
