  • Wow brilliant footage, Ive just managed to get the wild birds to come to my Kitchen window and take food from my hands, thanks for sharing......all the best !

  • Clever young Lady, very impressed. Will there be an update with you and Ranger?

  • Very cool!

  • hi i want to know how to tame a Zebra finch. Can you make a video how to tame a Zebra finch plz!!! I want to take my zebra finch outside of his cage.

  • @fantagesfan1231 Hi there!! I'm making a video now about how I tame a forpus coelestis.

Theseme style as you can use with your finch :P

  • @HorsezLover The video u are making about how to tame the bird, does it work for canary brids?

  • @qluuuuuuuulp Hi!!

Every bird respnds differently, to this bird it works out great!

I tried to gain his trust by showing him that I mean no harm.

Maby you find a new style yourself :D

  • Im so glad you know now, but you could use a damp tissue to dab your finger on and it will do the job great safely. The seed is a great way to reward them and they do like it alot when you personally feed them that way so....keep it up!!! Its so great BTW...

  • Never EVER allow human saliva to be on a seed as you clearly do in by licking the seed to offer it up...e-coli can be fatal, as are a huge range of human pathogens that will just kill that bird if you are not more careful....its a really bad idea, ask any avian vet and heed their advice!

careful it clearly will hurt you if the bird dies so just trying to help....

  • @prionic001 Hi! thanks for you comment!

Your so right about the saliva, after I made this video I heard about the bacteria tthat was in the saliva of a human.

I stoped right away with using it and now offering him just one seed between 2 fingers :P

If someone didn't tell you that you doing something wrong, you don't know it.

    So thanks :P

  • Hello very important haha, if you could answer this for me, do you only have one finch? I want one so bad to care for like you and tame and love it to death hahaha. but people say there stressed when there's only one :/... If you only have one is it happy?

  • @CharmIsHere Hi there!!

Ranger lived alone, and he was a happy little bird.

I spend alot of time with him and he came alot out of his cage.

A bird alone is not sad, if you spend alot of time with him and he doesn't get bored.

  • as i can see you have a lot of experience so i want your help i have a goldfinch but i took it when it was 1 years old now it is 3 years old and i have never try to train it because im afraid that it will escape but when i go approach to the cage he doesn't afraid me so much what can i do so it can trust me and have it free out of the cage

  • @marios439 Ranger was my first bird that I tamed myself, I spend so much time in him and I tried to let hem be a bird.

Respect and trust is the main key of taming/training and living with a bird.

I'm training a forpus coelestis now, he is not tame but i'm taming him.

I'm gonna put video's of how i'm taming him and what i do.

I hope it helps you :D

  • @HorsezLover you helped me a lot because i have understan the meaning of your comment and i know what to do now ,

  • aww whats wrong with his left wing?..and by the way you are so lucky i have a society finch and a shaft tail finch and they wont let me touch them..my shaft tail finch named mickey she will at least let me give her food through the bars of her cage but that's about it lol

  • @skullheadt Hi! His left wing was broken a long time ago, but it health soon and it didn't hurted after it!!

Shaft tail finches are so cute to!! good luck with here :D

  • Hey thanx for the video can i tame my zebra finch like that?

the video was helpfull and was adorable :)

  • @djharry11 Hi there!! I believe that every bird can be tamed, be patienced and try to understand your little finch :D

  • cute :D

  • @CrankWar Thanks :D

  • he 's soo sweet

  • @alegiunti80 Thanks!! he means so much to me

  • good ^^ put i think that there is proplem in his wing he is cuite ^^ woooow

  • @abdalla3962 His wing broke a long time ago (before I got him), he health realy soon and it didn't bother him after it health :D

  • silly little pinch

  • @darklittleeldar Hahaha

  • hot

  • it doesn't work with my brids :D but i want to know what kind of food you give to your bird !

  • @prince0fMaadi He loves millet, that's what I give him.

Mabey your birds love them too :D

  • your very sweet

  • what happened to his wing?

  • @ferretcutie9 When I first got Ranger he had a broken wing, someone found him in his garden.

His wing is all better and he can even fly :D

  • what are you feeding him

  • @whothq18 He loves millet and does anything to have it :P

  • Nice!

  • This is adorable. xD And very, very impressive; it's not an easy task to hand tame a finch. I hand tamed a neglected cockatiel; it was very difficult. The treat method is probably the best method. However, when you go to pick up a piece of that millet (or whatever seed it is), do NOT lick your finger first to get it to stick. Instead, dip it in a bit of water; I read that it can be dangerous for a bird to ingest human saliva. It's not the saliva itself, as with dogs and cats, but bacteria.

  • @dennalilly Hi! thanks for you comment! it's nice to here that i'm doing it right with Ranger.

Your so right about the saliva, after I made this video I heard about the bacteria tthat was in the saliva of a human.

I stoped right away with using it and now offering him just one seed between 2 fingers :P

If someone didn't tell you that you doing something wrong, you don't know it.

    So thanks :P

  • thats so beautiful!:)

  • GOOD GO Mozambiquesijs GO

    THANK YOU FOR VIDIO

  • @Kuwai8y4u Thanks for your commend :D

  • Well done! I posted this video to the eFinch page on Facebook

Rarely done with finches that are not hand raised. Good job.

  • @eFinchMovie Thanks!! it's a honor to hear that someone liked my bond with Ranger so much :D

  • Amazing trained finch you got there. I've got a green singer as well. I'm trying to tame it. Although whenever it sees any human in its vicinity it immediately stops chirping and sits there quietly. It flies to the back of the cage when approached. I don't know what to do.

  • @SecondOfApril Thanks!! try not to look into your bird eyes when you approache him, I don't know if you do that but maby it works :P

I;m not an expert but maby if you walk towards him, don't walk in a straight line!

Like to hear how your training goes

  • This only works assuming they're actually tame/brave enough in the first place to accept a treat from you. . . . . any tips on how to build trust from scratch?

  • @MarsellaFyngold Hi,everytime someone ask me this I find it hard to give them a good answer.

I didn't try to tame Ranger by some "standard taming rules"...

But here are some tips: Always let your bird be a bird, don't try to force him

Try to approach him with a lot of distance.

for example your bird is in it's cage, try to figure out (with your hand outside the cage) how close you may come without your bird is stressing. and try to get closer ervery time you do this exercise.(without stess!)

  • What kind of finch? Green singer? I'm kind of a finch newb, I'm still talking my dad into letting me get some...

  • @Fightingtosurvive Hi! people cal them all sort of names, serinus mozambicus (original), mozambiquesijs, green singer, The Yellow-fronted Canary!

Doesn't matter your new, everyone has to start somwhere :D

What kind of finch do you like?

  • @HorsezLover I actually have my eye on a bronze mannikin finch at PetsMart, but he's the last one, so I have to get a zebra or society to go in with him (if and when I get him.) But my dad said if I get a 5 on my AP exam (scores come in today or tommorrow, probably) then I could get the birds, so long as my room is clean.

  • hmmm.

  • What r u giving him as a treat?

  • @Prashmash Ranger loves millet, i'm also give him guizotia oleifera seeds.

He loves it and is verry motivated when I use it

  • @Prashmash The treat is regular small seds

  • Sam from iCarly?

  • @michwng Hahahah :D nope

  • such a great video!!!! both are extremely cute..)))) more vids please!!!

  • What do you use as a treat? I just got a couple of zebra finches and I'm working on taming them. Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

  • @zlwhite88 Hi there!

I'm using millet as a treat in this video, but Ranger's fav. treats are the seeds from a Guizotia abyssinica plant, You can search it up on google, there black and oblong.

It's good you wanna tame youre birds :D just be patience, I started with reading a book out loud next to him!

When you see a little procress, that's when you do it the right way! and it feels so great, you feel so proud :)

  • Try not to swap any saliva with your bird. They can get sick by alot of the bacteria in it.

  • @np9490 Yeah thanks, I already heard that after I made this video!

Not doing it any more :)

I'm glad people make those suggestion because if no-one tells me then I didn't know that I was doing somthing wrong.

  • Mine wont even let me go near him D=

  • I really enjoyed watching your video with Ranger. And I totally love the climbing frame you built for him! His love for you is definitely unconditional. I have to ask though, I noticed at the very end of the video that Rangers wing looked a little damaged... Was he ok? Thanks for sharing the video x

  • @bea1980uk Thanks for your comment! I really appreciate it :D

Someone gived me him with a broken wing, so I cared for him and he's doing fine now!!

  • thats beautiful. i love hand reared birds, but finches id imagine would be very difficult to tame, especially to the extent rangers trained, thankyou so much or showing me it can be done, finches can actually be tamed to the extent of petting and sitting there (ive been told thier just to jumpy for taming) thankyou very much, both of you are fantastic

  • @AnimeLoverForever16 Thanks alot!! when I make this video I didn't had Ranger for along time... now he is more then a year with me and I'm making even more progress :D

I will make a video of it soon

    Thanks for the comment!!!

  • you are very good with him

  • @rainbowrachel192 Thanks, alot! really I appreciate all those commends :D

  • Your as cute as the finch ;)

  • very nice

all sort of birds can be trained just requires the right training at the right time

check my videos of my budgies

part one and two its amazing how tame he got

  • @mecamoon Thanks! I began to train him when he was 1, because I got him when he was changing his collors a little bit.

  • you know human saliva can make birds really sick you you might not wanna lick your hand to give him food just a suggestion. :)

  • @Meaty123524

Yeah thanks, I already heard that after I made this video!

Not doing it any more :)

I'm glad people make those suggestion because if no-one tells me then I didn't know that I was doing somthing wrong.

  • @Meaty123524 Hi! thanks for you comment!

    So thanks :P

  • I LUV OWL CITY

  • wow ive never seen a tame finch b4! thats kool that you did that! man you must have a LOT of patience lol

  • @CHloE748 Thanks!! :D It takes alot of patience and respect to tame a older finch bird :P

(I mean not a bird you have from the beginning)

I'm really glad with the processing he... I mean we made

    Thanks for this nice subscribe

  • Interesting video! I guess it is not easy to tame adult finches. Baby finches easier to tame right. Thanksfor rescuing the injured finch. You have a great heart!:)

  • @peck426 Thanks for your subsribe!

    I really appreciate it :D

Ranger is almost 2 years now and I got him when he was almost 1 year

His feathers weren't that colered like it's now, I'm really happy with the results I got from the trainingen

  • Cute video !

  • You noticed :P

His left wing was broken when I got him.

Now he is doing great and even can fly!

  • Nice video :)

Is there something wrong with is left wing?

  • AWESOME! You are doing very well! I gather that Ranger, like our Biquette, was NOT hand fed nor hand reared... I am honoured and thrilled to have this film posted as a response to my "kissing" vid!

  • how old was the bird when you got it ? and what do you use as treat

    thanks

  • Hi thanks for responding :)

Ranger was 1 year when I got him and he is almost 2 years now.

I use millet (english) / trosgierst (dutch) for treat.

  • Leuke video, knap dat Ranger je zou vertrouwd.

    BeDazzled.
