The first time I heard this song was in 1983. I was high as a kite and in my mind I saw an entire film about the destruction of a peaceful country by an invading army.

years later I saw an interview with Nick Mason who said that this track was a story without words and I knew that I REALLY GOT IT.

Sitting here high again and on a nostalgia trip, i close my eyes and can still see the same images I saw all those years ago..... beautiful

Just been watching 3 progs on BBC FOUR about the Floyd and they still seem very ambivalent about this album. When I first heard it I thought, well thats different, now I consider it masterful and what the Floyd did best. This track and Echoes in a darkened room with the volume up, free of mood enhancing substances too (this music doesn't need that) nothing better.
