The first time I heard this song was in 1983. I was high as a kite and in my mind I saw an entire film about the destruction of a peaceful country by an invading army.
years later I saw an interview with Nick Mason who said that this track was a story without words and I knew that I REALLY GOT IT.
Sitting here high again and on a nostalgia trip, i close my eyes and can still see the same images I saw all those years ago..... beautiful
They are music. Their fantasy lights our minds. Their music we reversed towards a better life from the perspective of expectations. The music exists thanks to them. Their madness, the genius of their minds, their music takes me on a journey, a trip to paradise of music. PINK FLOYD FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!
Just been watching 3 progs on BBC FOUR about the Floyd and they still seem very ambivalent about this album. When I first heard it I thought, well thats different, now I consider it masterful and what the Floyd did best. This track and Echoes in a darkened room with the volume up, free of mood enhancing substances too (this music doesn't need that) nothing better.
@kiljoy67 I found out about its omission from the film recently, and I must say, the menacing orchestral parts would have worked well with Alex's madness and evil stares! :)
when I was discovering Atom Heart Mother, I would listen to this very song at least five times a day. Extremely underrated album, but it seems that people can't take anything more complex than Never Mind The Bollocks.
Pink Floyd is called according to two great blues musicians... maaaaan! this band should be called according to the biggest brain fuckers in the world!! AWESOME!!
Uwielbiam to... a szczególnie partię wiolonczeli i chóru... Chociaż nie mogę słuchać tej części psychodelicznej. Po prostu zaczynam się bać. ^^ Może ja tylko tak mam. ^^'
This is the first time i ever hear this song. I listened to it after watching the Live At Pompeii DVD. Amazing!!! Favourite part is the "noise" part from 15:30 to 19:10.... very innovative :)
the floyd were amazing

it's shame that this album was underated, it's a masterpiece like dark side of the moon or the wall and i wish you were here.
i like Ummaguma but some people dont' XD it's close to Frank Zappa spirit.
