Eric and Bill fight like children over Sookie. Alcide so far has proven not to hold disputes over other people in terms of love. I do as you stated think that Alcide is intelligent in many different ways. He had the smarts to drop his relationship with his wolf (don't remember her name).

Now that he is rid of her, he can get to know Sookie better and be there for her protection when she really needs it. He may not have the strength of a vampire, but he sure as hell has the loyalty, trust, intellect, and respect to show for it and for Sookie. Bill as we both know at the end of season 4 along with Eric got themselves in a load of trouble with the authority. Sookie should stay away from them.
@derekmorris89 I'm sure the show will ignore things like the fact that Sookie has just killed his first love and ex-fiancee, or most important, that she can hear his thoughts perfectly. It was established Sookie couldn't have relatioships before vampires because of her telepathy, but with Alcide it's suddenly not a problem? That's one HUGE consistency fail...

True Blood is even brilliant enough to 'shake' us enough on every level to bother about it! It is to great to leave alone between seasons, and it annoy us enough (the writing, Sookie, plots moved around etc.) to have this debat!
I'm breathless, in awe and amazed right now about True Blood right now, but let's se when I'm not so glamoured, if possible!
Most of us are 'nerds' in our passion for True Blood, we can't expect everyone to know quite as much! We know now that the poor lady on screen simply can't be a fan and that is fun, but then on with True Blood, please!
Alcide is a hunk, not really my type, but he could be Sookies type, he like carved in wood, the deepth of him too, so Sookie should be able to relate! But he just doesn't jump of the screen like Eric does, but who does ... and as long as I get a lot of Eric/Alexander I'm there!

I haven't read the books, but I have done enough research about them now to satisfy my self, not the way True Blood and Eric satisfies me, but what does?!
Anyway, I think that Alan Ball has sexed the whole thing quite a lot up, and thank you so much for that! The books are great, the storyline slow and 'romantic', just like Sookie, and appeals to the more carefree people, True Blood is more for jaded people, like Eric, someone who's be around a bit, done it a got the t-shirt!
@ASaTrueVirgoVision Actually I really don't think the books are more "romantic" than the show. Quite the contrary. BookSookie is not as fast to throw the love word around as in the show, and while the books can be rather hilariously cheesy, there's way less saccarine love declaration and people offering to die for each other every five minutes...
As for the sex, Book Sookie has just as much if not more, but of course we don't see other people like in the show.
@trixiedoor When you read the books, a very important factor is your own imagination, the depth and range of your own experience added to the equation! And wheter you have use that enough, to like rise above the first couple of levels of understanding! Then you get to a point were excess of understanding makes you enjoy/appriciate everything more!
I mean our own imagination can close us up or set us free!
Some book fans have 'limited' the abillity to enjoy the show because they are to closed!
@trixiedoor I get the feeling that your imagination reading the books went wild, in a positive way, but that you now are suffering because the show doesn't do that for you, but it wasn't even the books, it was you! I believe I will get the same feeling of suffering and loss when the show ends, like loosing a love really, silly, but true!
Just don't blame the show, blame the fact that reality bites and sucks, and sadly not the great way vampires do so fine!

I just think there was a lot of bad writing going on, and especially the second half had a bunch of truly dreadful episodes. So yeah, I do blame the writers of the show for not being up to par with previous seasons...

Alan Ball really isn't following the books too much at all. I read in their spoilers on their website that they were going in to books 6 & 7 this season too.. so, who knows... @dbritton41*SPOILERS* In the books after the amnesia (Eric doesn't remember what happened with Sookie till book 8) she dates another guy for a while and then she gets back with Eric. I takes them a long time to really admit their feelings.
The show has changed things so much that most of what happens after book 4 just can't be done anymore. So who knows what'll happen?

@dbritton41 Well the books are structured differently and you don't get to see all the other character when they're not interacting with Sookie, which can be good or bad... (mostly good for me), but if you're looking for Eric/Sookie stuff go for it! you won't be disappointed. Lots of people find that their relationship is much more enjoyable in the books...
@dbritton41 yes in the books they get married, or at least vampire married though eric does sort of trick sookie into it (to protect her of course, hes always doing thinsg for sookies greater good taht just look bad) but before that she gets with quinn a weretiger but when she hooks up with him eric doesnt know about them becaus ein the books when he gets his memory back he forgets the time that he didnt remember... that sounds strange.

Most of us are 'nerds' in our passion for True Blood, we can't expect everyone to know quite as much! We know now that the poor lady on screen simply can't be a fan and that is fun, but then on with True Blood, please!
Alcide is a hunk, not really my type, but he could be Sookies type, he like carved in wood, the deepth of him too, so Sookie should be able to relate! But he just doesn't jump of the screen like Eric does, but who does ... and as long as I get a lot of Eric/Alexander I'm there!

It may be many book fans are disappointed, but I really believe many, many more would have been disappointed, if True Blood wasn't as 'dense' as it is! And I think it was a very wise choice!
I guess there are a lot, lot more jaded people out there, but I would rather be carefree. I'm just not.

I haven't read the books, but I have done enough research about them now to satisfy my self, not the way True Blood and Eric satisfies me, but what does?!
Anyway, I think that Alan Ball has sexed the whole thing quite a lot up, and thank you so much for that! The books are great, the storyline slow and 'romantic', just like Sookie, and appeals to the more carefree people, True Blood is more for jaded people, like Eric, someone who's be around a bit, done it a got the t-shirt!

@ASaTrueVirgoVision Actually I really don't think the books are more "romantic" than the show. Quite the contrary. BookSookie is not as fast to throw the love word around as in the show, and while the books can be rather hilariously cheesy, there's way less saccarine love declaration and people offering to die for each other every five minutes...
As for the sex, Book Sookie has just as much if not more, but of course we don't see other people like in the show.

@trixiedoor When you read the books, a very important factor is your own imagination, the depth and range of your own experience added to the equation! And wheter you have use that enough, to like rise above the first couple of levels of understanding! Then you get to a point were excess of understanding makes you enjoy/appriciate everything more!
I mean our own imagination can close us up or set us free!
Some book fans have 'limited' the abillity to enjoy the show because they are to closed!

I believe I will get the same feeling of suffering and loss when the show ends, like loosing a love really, silly, but true!

@ASaTrueVirgoVision Actually I had no problem enjoying both the show and the books, in fact I even preferred the show at times, until season 4 which was extremely disappoiting to me for reasons that go way beyond the books. I just think there was a lot of bad writing going on, and especially the second half had a bunch of truly dreadful episodes. So yeah, I do blame the writers of the show for not being up to par with previous seasons...

@dbritton41*SPOILERS* In the books after the amnesia (Eric doesn't remember what happened with Sookie till book 8) she dates another guy for a while and then she gets back with Eric. I takes them a long time to really admit their feelings.
The show has changed things so much that most of what happens after book 4 just can't be done anymore. So who knows what'll happen?

I think he's going in many directions. I'm gonna have to read the books as they sound even BETTER than the show! @dbritton41 Well the books are structured differently and you don't get to see all the other character when they're not interacting with Sookie, which can be good or bad... (mostly good for me), but if you're looking for Eric/Sookie stuff go for it! you won't be disappointed. Lots of people find that their relationship is much more enjoyable in the books...

@dbritton41 yes in the books they get married, or at least vampire married though eric does sort of trick sookie into it (to protect her of course, hes always doing thinsg for sookies greater good taht just look bad) but before that she gets with quinn a weretiger but when she hooks up with him eric doesnt know about them becaus ein the books when he gets his memory back he forgets the time that he didnt remember... that sounds strange.

I loved the Eric/ sookie interactions in previous seasons, the banter was great. There was a lot of potential there but the amnesia storyline was rushed, badly written and overly cheesy.
Sookie's character has been ruined anyway so my only hope is that she's alone for a while and becomes a better character, without any love triangle bullshit. Ain't gonna happen though...
