  • Wow its Americans trying to do some good instead of killing sand niggers in other countries as well as their own.

  • I'm doing a lot. I gave up on buying a house and a Spyker car and decided to do propa investments and donations from time to time :D that should work, but no amount of cheesy commercials or foreign aid is going to make Africa rich. When you donate, the money vanishes very quickly, while investments keep rising and rising and rising. Just look at Botswana - prospering from diamond investments.

Make poverty history. Invest today :D and keep shopping! It makes someone richer.

  • Read Dambisa Moyo and William Easterly, not this fool.

  • Poverty has a known cure. It is the empowerment of women and control over the rate at which they reproduce.

  • @theDuctapeUnion Nah, capitalism is the ultimate cure to the poverty :D Every former communist country, that adopted capitalism, is now succesful and even developed, not just being a developing country.

  • @StandingRedPanda ...And what about the impoverished peoples in capitalist countries? Do these people not have more children than they can afford, feed, clothe, educate and otherwise care for. Do these impoverished children not end up taking refuge in the subculture of "street life" and perpetuate the hopelessness having more babies out of wedlock. I could have said the "responsible father" is the cure for poverty, but we both know that'll never happen. It's up to the females to use protection.

  • we all can make the difference!

  • they should have just had antonio banderas speak the entire ad. it would have sounded way better

  • @anaplat Furthermore, child mortality rates have been drastically cut in many Sub-Saharan African countries since 1960. According to UNICEF, Mozambique, Ethiopia and Malawi have cut their under 5 mortality rates in half since 1960.

  • @anaplat That is a simplistic stereotype that is extremely misleading.

Many countries in Sub-Saharan Africa are growing now. According to the World Bank, Tanzania, Mozambique, and Uganda's economies have grown at over 6% per year since 2001.

  • tom hanks has the best voice on here

  • @Istralm

As an African myself, I can proudly say that Israel did good to us more than many other nations in the world. This tiny yet democratic state not only helps Senegalese farmers find water by introducing them to a complicated yet distinctive water system, but it is the only country in the whole ME which harbors thousands of East African refugees, mostly are victims from the horrors of Darfur, so yes as a true Zionist, TheMessiah has every right to be proud of Israel as I am, an African

  • Israel supports the one campaign. I am a supporter of this effort to help end world hunger, cure AIDS, help starving children in Africa and among many other nobel causes. I feel what these people are doing is a wonderful thing for all humanity and i support them 100 percent as i want to spread the word to many about these great things which will make our world a better place for all.

  • @XXXxThemessiahxXXX

Israel slaughters palestinians unjustly. don't you dare try and put a positive spin on Israel shameful history by crapping on about how much you care for little hungry kids in africa. Israel is a murderous state

  • Muslims slaughter people in Darfur unjustly with Al-Bashir acting in the name of genocide in the government of Sudan. You are nothing but a hypocrite. God bless Israel!

  • oh bugger off.

  • Understand who Bono really is first before you post your comment here.

  • I hear all you guys who criticize these stars for being extremely wealthy. However, I think we should focus on the cause they are trying to voice before we bash them. Sure they may be loaded rich, but if they actually are trying to do something good, then isn't that commendable? You will always be able to look at somebody and say, "They can give more." We can all give more. I guess all I'm trying to say is let's look at what they are talking about, and then make our judgments from there

  • Exactly!

  • @ourgenerationisdumb What good does it bring, though? Looking at what they are trying to say? People need money. Not kind words. These celebrities, whom I actually admire, have unused, static money they will never have the opportunity to spend. It feels like a joke.

  • @HelenaNV I hear you. Asking people to pitch in while one is sitting on a pile of cash does take away from one's credibility. But then again, we don't know how much each of these celebrities actually gives. Bono gives a ton, but he may be the exception.

I always feel like a hypocrite for criticizing rich people because I ask myself, would I be any different? I hope I would be, but I'm not positive.

  • @ourgenerationisdumb If you had that kind of money and truly understood the concept of unused money that could be saving lives, and truly had their well fare in mind, I'm sure you would. What's the difference if you're not using it?

  • @HelenaNV True. I just think it's so different to imagine having that money, opposed to actually having it. Everyone wants security. But you're totally right, no one needs THAT much. Point taken.

  • @ourgenerationisdumb Exactly. What's the point of having 10 cars if you need only one to move around? What's the point of having 3 houses if you need only one to live in? I'm glad you agree.

  • The developed world can wipe out massive diseases, severe malnutrition, and hunger for less than 1% of its income. $1 vaccines and food supplements can save the lives of 1/3 of humanity that live on less than $2 per day.

Health agencies wiped out Smallpox in the 1970s.

    /watch?v=LtQ5JSW2eNk

They wiped out Polio in the 1980s.

    /watch?v=INVVmLJ1zYk

Health agencies are now wiping out Measles.

    /watch?v=axYibL_6cMc

This is reducing child mortality around the world

  • αξιολυπιτοι Αμερικανοι! Το κακο σας το καιρο!

  • I hate to say it but even charity becomes a business.

  • It has to if you want success.

  • ok y dont you take your own advice and donate 60% of your income, what your saying will never happen and is just stupid..most celebrities dont give a damn about whats going on around the world and you are mad at the ones in this video...hmm they cant do it alone and by making this video they motivate the middle class to help out too

  • If you added together the wealth of all the people in this video they could probably cure Africa's starvation problem.

  • I agree.

  • So they make a commercial with the most wealthiest people in america telling other people to give more and we wonder why the world hates America.

  • Wow you idiot. The point is these people have money to get something going to HELP PEOPLE. I dont see you doing ANYTHING but typing negative comments on videos of people trying to HELP others in the world. Do you see how ignorant you are? These people are trying to help. The fact that they have money, is one of the reasons they decided to help. But even ALL THE MONEY THAT THEY HAVE is not enough to solve the crisis humanity is in, and that is where we come in. Have a heart.

  • ha every one of those stars lives in a mansion of some sort and most have several houses. -Idea- what if they gave that all up and lived in a town home of some sort and donated around 60% of there own money instead of asking for small donations from the middle class. yes they worked for all that money but do movies really make the world go round and for that matter does major league sports do that also. pshh makes me think why i even bother typing when things are already in the shitter.

  • Are you sure this was a 2007 spot? Jewel has bangs here; she had bangs in 2004.

  • you will have poverty as long as greedy and stupid politicians run the countries. in ethiopia people have their workplace bulldozed. you can give trillions in aid and politicians are still going to put this in their pocket. and you cant buy rain.

its foreign investment that makes countries rich. billions went to africa and nothing improved, while asia blooms from our investment.

  • what a fool believes.

  • Talk about politically correct bullshit.

  • Warum kommt sowas nicht als Werbung in den großen Medien? MTV & co.?

  • yes axactly thats what im asking myself too, they should show it on every channel!

  • Agreed, w8jij17, Creed is one of the worst bands ever. The biggest problem, though? I don't know about that...

  • i need you to see this video!!!!

    antonio banderas endorses obama!!!!

    WATCHT IT on ONEVOICEFOROBAMA channel

    thanks :)

  • more white then black people in there lol

  • so what??you shouldnt look at such things

  • who's the person at 0:08?

  • Al Pachino? The dude who played in "Scarface"?

  • the person at .08 is Justin Timerlake, Al Pacino follows him at .09.

  • You can't destroy poverty when human beings all around the world are procreating on such an immense scale. In the next half century the worlds population is going to jump from 6 Billion to around 9 billion. This is an impossible dream that can't be accomplished until we stop reproducing so much all over the world.

  • nice try but wrong... if people conserve and learn to live together...then this planet can support 10 billion... people are only in cities there are millions and millions of acre with no humans on it....there is already 50 million sbortions worldwide each year..i think we have enough population control

  • the human carrying copacity is around 3 bilion, but if we all eat wheat products and live modestly we can support i think it was 40 billion. i say nuke china, thats 1.3billion right there :P jk jk jk jk jk

  • Where do you get your stats. The facts are that in the US and Europe we have dramatically declined. The US is at 2.1 which is better than Europe, but if we keep at it civilization will in time cease, at least famlies will many will have no sibs and aunties and so on. Check out your facts 'K.

  • cease to exist? this world is growing steadily... wtf are you talking about lol ...bc in europe your all impotent from getting your ass kicked in wars the last 100 years and you have no balls like the french... europe may cease to exist but we will be fine in the usa... instead of checking so called facts check your little dick and make sure it still works... get off the computer, move out of your moms basement and get some pussy and maybe europe will make it...hahaa bitch

  • pricks like you think the world is flat....USA on top....the rest of the world on bottom...dig a hole so my taxes dont benefit you.plz and ty

  • one by one..each of those celebrities gives just 10% of there earnings instead of asking us working class HEROES for duckets and everybody lines up to a luscious banquet...and the world listens for that ONE,tonally exquisite, collective, belch.

  • holy fuck they even got Tom Hanks there.

    He's awesome!

  • hey let it be, if there's an intent to make something let there be at least good will and ~nice thoughts, well of course I know actions speak louder and such... But it's about being attentive to the world around us than making history; each and every one of us makes history, and in fact real history is the one told by certain people and endorsed the most in popular culture at long periods after events have taken place or in confused situations and imperiously requiring utter secrecy hehe ;]

  • this makes me kind of angry. In principle it sounds good, but raising awareness can only do so much. Saying "oh sad. that's terrible", buying a rubber bracelet, and putting your name on a list isn't going to stop anything. It's only action that will.

  • hey you know why people die of starvation and aids in other countries? because fucking military dictatorships rule the countries and any aide that comes through they take it. you want to help those countries send troops to fucking kill these military regimes. but no one wants that right? because war is evil. so nothing will ever change. peace through strength.

  • they are not asking for money. Go to the website. They want you to add your signature to get the message to our policy makers that we do not find this acceptable. You are looking at them as rich movie stars panhandling for money. They are strong voices asking you to join

US in our demands to MAKE povert history. It is an excellent cause. Also would be good to look into what OTHER organizations they devote their time to. /rant off tyvm :o)

  • I figured it out, they want your info, that is really what they want. After seeing Matt Damon talking out of both sides of his mouth, they have lost me. I was hoping they were being for real, but there was Matt outing everything, thanks Matt you had to make your nasty remarks, but hey it is better to be forwarned that this is not about being One, and coming together to help others. We will help others we always do, with little or much we will always be helping others. Later pffft!

  • kevin bacon, bono, my two favorite guys workin to help others. thats just so great. just goes to show how down to earth they really are.

  • haha! amen to that!

  • Make capitalism history.

  • In one year, the salaries of these "stars" combined could pull in millions for "ONE" foundations. It would take thousands of us "middle class" individuals lifetimes to equal that. Who can really make a difference?

  • Welcome bAcK to the MuDdLeD aGes..however instead of Castles, our 'free' 'democracy' goverments have en$laved us 'peasants' to Corporation$ (the Guards of their 'palace$) and Hidden the 'rich' in Condo$ while the rest cRuMbLeS back into the 'dirt' on the street LeVeLs of Poverty, Unemployment (cut back$) and Homelessness..Three $neer$ for the 'new' age Money mAd GREEDY SeLf CeNtReD H'Empire$..and the 'rich' can 'donate' to 'make' themselves and their eGo$ 'feel' 'good' about them$elve$.

  • haha.. opps. take out the can in lets make poverty history.. :P

  • powerful message.. too bad none of these billionairs actually care , they could feed 100 kids an hour and hardly make a dent in their paychecks.. anyways..

to the rest of us.. lets can make poverty history!!!!!

  • I don't think one person pictured in this vid is a billionaire. Millionairs...yes...many times over, but let's be fair they don't have billions.

I'm sure that every one of these people are active with charities and spend their own time and money to help them thrive. Besides they're not asking for our money, they're using their voices, which are more powerful to the average person than most, and asking us to use our own in support of a good cause.

  • Very strong.

  • BUDAFILMS suscribe ONE for make povertry history. And everybody can do sth for do the same.

  • well, u cant say none of these stars are donating to anyone in america, they might not be telling because it looks bad to show off and also because they dont want to give anyone the idea that they are going to give money whenever and wherever

  • yep, but im not against sharing with a person just because they live across an imaginary border

  • Please give more from your own riches and stop badgering the middle class and poor so that you don't have to shell out as much.

  • i found this remarkably difficult to follow, despite the high-brow nature of it. i expected more really.

  • Great, how wierd does Mr Del Toro look, but still a great actor.

  • I love this! L love Cameron Diaz and Jewel! Jewel's so pretty!

    xo

  • good luck...america is not doing so well, either...

  • benicio is hot... wow.... benicio....

  • yesssss :D

  • something HAS to be done

when i see what happens in africa and other third world countries,i feel disgusting that i have all this food and they have nothing

  • America needs your helped too. What about evening out the huge pay gape between workers and CEO's . Everything goes up in price and gets taxed in trick sneaky ways , but the real workers do not make enough to live happy lives ony pay check to pay check with a few bucks left over

  • No they don't. The workers make plenty enough to make livings. STFU, America is the best off country in the world and our issues are petty

  • I think the majority of the people in here don't understand what the one campaign is. I suggest you do some reading into what it is about. The one campaign is about helping third world countries who are stricken with poverty, not our own! And you would be suprised to learn that every single one of these actors and personalities in this commercial have history of donating money to organizations that help to fight aids and starvation in third world countries.

  • i'm telling you

whatever america need,it does not come even close,at all,to what the ppl in third world country needs

you need to watch some world vision commercials and look at your own country

those kids..they live in MUD houses

  • donation...(I hate typos.)

  • Actually, you can get the same t-shirt from the One(dot)org for a doantion of $40. Assuming that a wealthy person is incapable of compassion is like assuming a poor person is incapable of success. Both jump to prejudiced conclusions.

Try spreading less heat and more light.

  • i love the last line:)

  • I didn't say the rich are uncapable of feeling compassion. There are many rich people who have donated the majority of their money to the poor. And feeling compassion and sacrifising components of your life for a greater cause are VERY different. All humans feel compassion. I didn't jsut jump to conclusions; I've seen what Brad Pitt wears and the yatchs he buys.

  • These celebs are all hyppocrits. They sport plain Ts worth over a thousand dollars and then pretend to be humanitarians. And don't start with the you don't root through their garbage crap. We have photos of the shit they wear and some people identify where you may also get the same ridiculously expensive products. They love corporate America.

  • they pretend nothing, not everyone is like your typical lindsay lohan and paris hilton

  • In the Gospels JESUS CHRIST clearly stated "The poor you will always have with you"

  • So???

  • and that means we should ignore and rob them, or?

  • There naturally exists among mankind uncountable differences of the most important kind, people differ in capability, diligence, health and strength. UNequal fortune is a natural result of inequality in ability, and its wrong to believe that class/group is hostile to another, as each needs the other in proper balance.

  • Men are NOT born equal, from birth and all thru life there exists differences beyond imagination. Its immpossible to reduce all humanity to an equal and balanced level, all efforts against nature are wrong and evil.

  • Every person within the community should value more than just material gain by actively promoting and supporting social interests such as VOLUNTARY charitable assistance and conservation.

  • ITS true that CHRIST constantly spoke about the dangers of greediness and of being greedy, but HE never condemned the possession of worldly goods or great wealth.

  • If Government is so concerned about education, how come it never learns from its mistakes?

  • To the misinformed haters and the genuinely interested alike: please go to One(dot)Org and check out the movement for yourself. It is a non-partisan, non political, pro pragmatic compassion org. No one is asking for your money - they are asking for your voice and your awareness. Clearly, there are a few folks here who could do with a dose of awareness!

  • If dental rhymes with mental than dentures rhymes with mentures, meaning Career Politicians will sing and dance the "Artificial Intelligence" song conducted and Directed by the Super Rich Secret Elite Manipulators of Global Power Politics

  • In the modern age of instant gratification, politics has become an animal farm where the party in control wants to be in the role of Boss Hog!

  • The basic core of Socialism is based on the principle that promotes and supports an anarchistic and primitive society DEvoid of law and order where savages do as they want.

  • Politicing aside, I think the point is to get the American population voting based on world-scale issues, not on national policy. Whether you believe the people in the video or not, our world needs change. And whether you believe it or not, the population of America can provoke that change...

  • These are the guys with all the money, gee do you see them standing up to support america? No , Do they support St Jude hospital, cancer research, Shriners hospital, American children, disabled, seniors. No. They are such Bigots

  • And you know all of their personal records for charitable donations how? Been rooting through their garbage? You jump to conclusions because they are celebrities. You are the bigot.

  • Isn't it a bit presumptuous to assume that Americans who know nothing of how life works 6000 miles away can suddenly shell out a bunch of money and make complicated problems go away? It's called free will, everyone has it. People in high places in those hell holes profit greatly from the misery. They wont allow for change peacefully.

  • Vote socialist and a million african kids wont die!! What a load of crap! Aids wont go away until selfish people WITH aids stop fornicating with everything in sight! Truth! Uncomfortable truth! Africans are not dogs we are to throw table scraps at! Look up MICRO_CREDIT! That is a better solution to poverty, not some world dole that loads up Swiss bank accounts for corupt leaders. These adds target Americans because we are suckers!

  • i dont think u have any idea of what living in extreme poverty or with aids is, especially being a child so stop being so superficial and read a newspaper once in a while and inform urself. at least the celebrities on this ad got u to listen to something of real importance like helping CHILDREN that cant help themselves. If u can help out in any way rather than focus on the people in the ad u would do the world a favor.

  • Dullard

  • the reason why they hired all these celebs is because no one cares about this problem. everyone was informed when paris hilton went to jail. this epidemic has been going on for years. by using these celebs as puppets, the media is pulling the audience (the people who watch or known as US) into one large group set out to help solve this problem. if you think about it, this commercial is really smart. the way the producers aranged so many different hollywood stars, people are bound to listen.

  • Everyone in the video volunteered their time and effort - none of them were "hired" by anyone. Peace.

  • that makes it even better, thank you for the clarification.

  • History make poverty

  • I suppose you could say well at least they're being well meaning despite the absurdity of their position in this campaign, but one can't help but suspect that they're in some way trying to justify their own personal wealth. Maybe appearing in this campaign is a very subtle way of displaying their wealth - look at me , I'm so rich I'm in the make poverty history campagn!

  • Yeah.. lets make a campaign about world poverty- who shall we get to do it?m Oh yeah lets get some of the richest people on the planet, that'll look really good, you knoww - abit of black and white, soft lighting, some plain white t-shirts. What a pantomime this is.

  • All the worlds a stage and all the men and women merely players. They have their exists and their entrances and one man in his time plays many parts...

It gets more sinister when you know that many of these celebs are apart of the NWO who wish to destroy each nations sovereignty and replace them w/NGOs that just generate more money for those who are even richer than these 'stars.'

  • More millionares lecturing about poverty..hysterical isn't it? Can't they see how ridiculous it is?

  • It's so akward to see these bitchy sell-out celebs trying to eat some chalk and playing the fig leaf.

The problem is the capitalism, the banking system, the imperialism, the colonialism - can't see anything about that in the spot, just empty cheesyness.

  • like the vid !! i know we can make a difference... but is there any reason they just call up americans in the US version of the TVspot !? i mean there are versions of those trailers in different countries/different languages.. i will never understand that.. in our german TV spot there are american and british and german and well different stars calling for the whole world to help !! So join ! Change the world ! Make Poverty History ! (no matter where you're from)

  • you guys are really doing somthing great for them. thank you for doing somthing for the people who need it the most. you guys are the reall heros not the soldiers in Iraq. you guys are saving lives not taking them. you should really be proud of your selves. my ant went over there a few years ago and said it was horrible. she went back recently and she said that it was better because of you guys. sleep good tonight because you guys are doing somthing great. God Bless you all.

  • Wow. I can't believe they found an actor that can morph into all those celebrities. The voices were spot on as well. Hollywood should hire that guy.

  • hope that we make poverty history

  • what did ryan gosling say? i couldn't understand him lol

  • Letter.

  • wonderful. i joined the ONE campaign but what i would like to see is "regular" people, the millions of non-celebrities who make up ONE, be featured in a spot.

  • there actually is a non-celebrities-spot or at least a mixed one.. ww w (dot) millennium-spot (dot) org/en/en,1 (dot) html

  • this is almost the same as the one from last year with a few new faces :] its great that this is gonna be back on tv again, the attention should constantly be on this issue and i'm so glad this campaign ensures that.
