This compilation is the best, the music isn't too loud and you can hear the turbines powering up to pull out of the landings, I just love to hear them scream.
that was the first holiday i went on at 1:40 to hong kong and im still here 16 years on and im telling you it was the worlds hardest airport to land at scary shit
gotta be thankfull for the skills pilots have to land in those crosswind situations, if any body has ever been on one of those planes looking down the run way out your window, the feeling in your stomach is not quite right! THANKYOU TO ALL OF THE PILOTS FOR YOUR SERVICE AND MAKING SURE EVERYBODY ARRIVES AT THEIR FINAL DESTINATION AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE
Gotta appreciate all the smarts and skills needed by the people who maintain, control, and direct air planes. They got lives in their hands and they gotta be at their best to keep those lives safe.
I really love this video. It poignantly expresses the duality of man struggling with the controls of a huge wind swept machine that is inclined to crash and kill everyone on board.
@MrLowAltitude Not always. First of all, not all pilot's are trained the same - and they don't always have to do it that way. Second of all, he probably generated som turbulence, or 'lift' under his right wing, which made it bounce up and turn the plane to the opposite side... Third of all, I'm sure he's a trained pilot at has flown for several hours more than you have - so you shouldn't be telling him what he's doing wrong on a comment on youtube...
@mrjvb12341 First: That's the most important rule of landing in crosswind! Every pilot on this planet will tell you so! Second: Rubbish, it cleary was a gust! You can see the airplane moving to the left with its nose pointing to the right. This indicates a heavy crosswind gust.
Third: You are right, he sure has more hours than me but I know this particular landing you know. It was a Lufthansa Airbus in Hamburg, 01.03.2008. The Pilot decided to land despite the storm "Emma" going over germany.
@mrjvb12341 I'll explain it to you: It was a combination of human and computer faults. He touched down with the left main gear first, causing the flight control system to detect "weight on wheels" and switching to ground mode. In ground mode, the aileron deflection is limited to 50%. Because his right wing wasn't pointing down (As it should be!) the gust threw the plane away and the poor guy couldn't correct the attitude fast enough because of the limited aileron deflection.
this is not skill. i mean where the fuck is air traffic control and why arnt they telling them not to land or to land at another airport?? brainless fuckin idiots if you ask me. if i was on any of those planes i would want to slap the pilot for risking my life so stupidly which could have easily been avoided.
first of all , fuck you ,,,, the second thing is that we all do mistakes ,, I ment Professionally trained ,, and I look forward to see you in a plane crash
Pilot to Co-Pilot: HA!! I win the bet! Chief Steward said TWELVE people crapped their shorts.... Told you I can make at least 5 do it. Pay up, Charlie.
@mantodowhattodo The wing oscillations alone are frightening. With that degree of wing load instability, it is a wonder it didn't cartwheel down the runway.

For heavy crosswind, the wind pointing wing has to be pushed down and the wind pointing wheel has to touch down first. ;)
