It'd be nice if the where to perform/film the original RENT(1992-1994 Version-s) atleast once to see what Mr.Larson originally pictured for the musical.
OMG in the movie they so took out some of the verses-- & at the end of 1 he said"..nirvana". He really liked Kurt cobain. So do I!! I luv this song but now I'm so singing the verse w/ nirvana in it.
jonathan seemed to have kind of a fascination with wizard of oz, he mentions it here, and also in 30/90 from Tick Tick Boom! too. did anyone else notice that?
as a songwriter/composer, things like this are infinitely valuable to me...Larson was clearly a genius, but this is so unassuming...it sounds like the witty ramblings of a greenwich village songwriter set to a piano and midi drum set backing track and yet it went on to be the anthem of one of the greatest rock operas of all time...a lot can be learned from this...
this song feels even more genuine hearing it come from johnathan larson. honestly, i've had tears pouring the whole song. it really got me when he named all the characters and said the art quotes.
johnathan larson, thank you for creating such an inpirational and beautiful show.
you can get this song on the Jonathan Sings Larson CD, and the lyrics come in the CD booklet. It has some other songs from Rent, too, like Valentine's Day and a bunch of other great songs. I would definitely recommend getting it! :)
That made me smile and want to cry at the same time. Does it get better than Jonathon Larson? Don't think so...
I'm on my way to owning everything Rent related and I just bought the Tick, Tick... Boom! soundtrack. I need the CD of him singing his own songs, though...
Its so sad that the show is closing today! He is great. I only wish I could have seen it on Broadway. I'm going to see it in the theaters. Its such a shame he didn't live to see it but I'm sure he will watch over the show tonight. RIP and thank you Johnathon!
I know. I've cried over his story so many times. But if you think about it, he fulfilled his life purpose. He created a legacy, that can never be topped by any musical. He still had so much great in him though and it was a tragedy when he died :[ Thank you, Jonathan Larson ♥
wow, this is incredible...and also sad. what a terrible, terrible loss. he contributed so much and really would have changed the face of modern musical theater...sigh.
agreed! he *did* change it, indeed. i meant that he had so much to contribute and its really sad that we only have a few shows from him. i think he would have been a major player in modern musical theater (ala sondheim) and thus, its such a loss.
It'd be nice if the where to perform/film the original RENT(1992-1994 Version-s) atleast once to see what Mr.Larson originally pictured for the musical.

I wonder what will become of the plaque in the back hallway of the Nederlander? Will it remain back there or will it go back to his family?
SgtSplatter782 3 years ago
