  • It'd be nice if the where to perform/film the original RENT(1992-1994 Version-s) atleast once to see what Mr.Larson originally pictured for the musical.

  • @heartshapednirvana yeah i know its crazy considering he actually wanted Kurt to play Roger at one point believe or not. Pretty Awesome.

  • Brilliant. Just Brilliant. RIP

  • Viva la vie boheme! complete win!

  • OMG in the movie they so took out some of the verses-- & at the end of 1 he said"..nirvana". He really liked Kurt cobain. So do I!! I luv this song but now I'm so singing the verse w/ nirvana in it.

  • This is awesome! Huh! This is the best! Great great great!!!

  • 6:20...I kind of get a "tick..tick..tick.." feel - like its building up.

  • WHAT IS ART?

it's awesome to hear how this song changed in those couple of years. :)

  • his voice is so pure and amazing

  • R.I.P

  • to faggots, lezzies, dykes, cross dressers too.

  • Not now, Roger. ..lol

  • Awesome.

  • this is awesome. he really left the world a better place!

  • This CD is on iTunes!!! It is freaking awesome!

  • jonathan seemed to have kind of a fascination with wizard of oz, he mentions it here, and also in 30/90 from Tick Tick Boom! too. did anyone else notice that?

  • I much prefer this to the cast recordings. :D

  • as a songwriter/composer, things like this are infinitely valuable to me...Larson was clearly a genius, but this is so unassuming...it sounds like the witty ramblings of a greenwich village songwriter set to a piano and midi drum set backing track and yet it went on to be the anthem of one of the greatest rock operas of all time...a lot can be learned from this...

  • his voice is so soothing! :)

    this is so bitter-sweet...

    thank you jonathan larson

  • hearing this did not just make my day... it made my life

  • this song always, ALWAYS reminds me of jonathan. there's just so much of him that shines through this song. you can tell.

    rip jonathan larson.

    thank you. <3

  • this song feels even more genuine hearing it come from johnathan larson. honestly, i've had tears pouring the whole song. it really got me when he named all the characters and said the art quotes.

johnathan larson, thank you for creating such an inpirational and beautiful show.

  • Is there anywhere to get the lyrics to this version? I love some of the cut-out parts...

  • you can get this song on the Jonathan Sings Larson CD, and the lyrics come in the CD booklet. It has some other songs from Rent, too, like Valentine's Day and a bunch of other great songs. I would definitely recommend getting it! :)

  • i cant beilive that he died a DAY BEFORE rent came out. how awful is that. this is awsome <3 r.i.p

  • He died a day before I was concieved... I feel kinda bad i had a birthday the day after he died. :(

  • @carsonmaier14 you must be his reincarnation! hehe

  • That made me smile and want to cry at the same time. Does it get better than Jonathon Larson? Don't think so...

I'm on my way to owning everything Rent related and I just bought the Tick, Tick... Boom! soundtrack. I need the CD of him singing his own songs, though...

  • I love this! Even better than the one in the play. (Is that possible?) I do like this version! It might even be funnier. (Is THAT possible?)

  • Oh,trust me honey! It IS possible!!!!

  • Wow, I love this.

I understand what anthony meant in his memoir about the demo having a really fake sounding electric guitar though. haha (:

  • Thank you, Jonathon Larson <3

  • Wow. It makes me sad to think about his death. I'm sure that he's happy that he can watch every performance from Heaven. :3

    ~R.I.P. Jonathan Larson~

  • THANK YOU Jonathan Larson!!

    luv U<33

thanks for making me think about LOVE.

    and,thanks for creating RENT:)

there is no words to use for describing how i luv RENT and YOU!!!

  • How did Larson die *crying*

  • he died of an aoric anurism

  • where is this from? like was it during rehearsals jonathan singing?

  • Its so sad that the show is closing today! He is great. I only wish I could have seen it on Broadway. I'm going to see it in the theaters. Its such a shame he didn't live to see it but I'm sure he will watch over the show tonight. RIP and thank you Johnathon!

  • I wonder what will become of the plaque in the back hallway of the Nederlander? Will it remain back there or will it go back to his family?

  • i really don't know. i think it should stay there. but it would be nice if it went to his family too.

  • i seriously cried the first time i heard him sing One Song Glory! Him dying, Where is the justice??

  • Just think, on the day his dream came true.... he died. That is so sad!

  • I know. I've cried over his story so many times. But if you think about it, he fulfilled his life purpose. He created a legacy, that can never be topped by any musical. He still had so much great in him though and it was a tragedy when he died :[ Thank you, Jonathan Larson ♥

  • oh god.. it's incredibly grateful for my ears

    how ever depressing for heart

it's really terrible and cruel thing for him and us to lose him'

    thanks for sharing !

  • R.I.P. Thank u for created a show that started my love for theatre!

  • Thank you Jonathan Larson!!!

  • wow, this is incredible...and also sad. what a terrible, terrible loss. he contributed so much and really would have changed the face of modern musical theater...sigh.

  • he wouldn't have changed it. He did change it

  • agreed! he *did* change it, indeed. i meant that he had so much to contribute and its really sad that we only have a few shows from him. i think he would have been a major player in modern musical theater (ala sondheim) and thus, its such a loss.
