  • also very painful on the knee

  • @policeluigi

Lol, what are you talking about? I do Ninjutsu and I do exactly the same one. oo

    It's BARELY different.

  • Ditch the commercials!

  • I started taking classes earlier this year - had to give it up for work, but hoping to go back asap. Above all else, THIS was what i found hardest. I simply could not do the rolls. Iv never felt more retarded, then when i had 2 black belts trying to help me with one of these simple looking rolls. And the Samurai walk DEFINITELY hurts your knees!

  • Even though you don't speak Japanese you should make some effort to pronounce Japanese terms properly...it's not difficult as Japanese is phonetically much simpler than English...I wince...otherwise your videos are very instructive...

  • "Also very painful on the knees", sounds like something that'll give you arthritis after a few hours.

Very nice videos, give nice basic understanding.

  • @The RogueMonk

You don't speak Japanese, do you....

  • Please do not misunderstand me, but isn't the ura ukemi "banned" ?

Something to do with neck injuries.

    And a "new" one used?

    Best regards,

    Roy

    Aikidoka from Norway

  • @SuperdryRoy if you do it right you wont have any neck problems. cheers

  • "one who suffers" is incorrect! Uke is the "one who receives"

  • @aikitraining yes but it has same kind of meaning.

he recieves suffering or punishment for learning .

nage is the one who gives a throw or tori the deffender .

uke is both reciever and giver of force or punishment.. then he recieves it afterwards through nage a figuratively speaking throw.

  • @aikitraining Samuri means servant it was their duty to serve so uke is acting in the same line of the samurai he is serving the cause of aikido

  • at the start, the backrolls are really pain on the back also on the head if you're not careful

  • Thanks! OSU!

  • I did shutokan karate n judo adhere my name. Now im doin Aikido! Aikido without a dought is my favorite Martial art of all times! Shutokan was very boring n dragged ass, its good but not for me! Aikido is the best! What other martial art uses the momentum from the attacker against him. He attacks u hes defeated by force, the very same force he tried to defeat u with! Aikido FOR LIFE!' HAIL OSENSEI!!

  • Uke = The one who suffers??? Shiet... I don't wanna be uke then... I'd rather be "the one who receives the techniques"

  • What quiet rolls! simply beautiful.

  • @engineering07 this guys videos are strange but he got rolling right. rolling should be like this... too bad its too hard for me even after 3 years

  • i do aikido, but i would like someone do this on solid concrete. all very nice on matts. one thing steven seagal which is very good, he makes his students do it on all types of surfaces. you dont take a knife to gun fight, you have to be trained in all situations. which why bruce didnt like style. you better condition every part of your body.

  • Hmmm... I've never seen a samurai walk look like that, but it looks better and seems more efficient.

  • is that egg roll?

  • It's when you roll the egg in your hand right before you toss it up into the air, do a flip, catch the egg and crack it in the bowl.

  • No! That's california roll

  • I do Shudokan-karate-do and that's exactly how we roll too!

  • Shotokan?

It's because everyone realized that martial arts are different, but if you made all the rolls and falls different, someone would get hurt :p

  • yeah nice ty

  • Thanks for this Aikido series of videos =D
