From the commentary that the director gave at the end when they're in the hospital today they do like eachother and wish and wonder what could've taken place after that point if Annie hadn't died.

Why did the bus scene get cut from the DVD version, where Nick mentions Victor? That's what makes her get off the bus- so she can go back to the school and leave the money behind for him in her locker.

A tiny snippet of the hallway scene isn't included on my version, either- after he calls her name and she turns around. He reappears right next to her as she turns back and keeps walking.
