i was worried about getting a jungle python because of the reputation, but i finally decided to get one :) i have a 12 month old female and she is soooo docile, i can feed her by hand, pick her up when shes coiled and grab her straight out of her feed tank...she hides in my pockets and flickers her tongue on my nose,,,, she beautiful couldnt ask for a better snake :)
@Midnight2534 hard to say how, depends on different animals, could be anywhere between 2 and 4 years, most likekly around 3 and a bit .. JCP can look like coastals or look like they have diamond python genes in them aswell, but usually they dont, its just colour variation
i hav a corn snake and red tail boa they are both puupy dog tame im lookin at gettin a jungle at the new england reptile show but iv heard alot that they love to bite
@MissAMLynch everybody says these are bad first snakes bcoz there nippy. well i got one as a 1st snake and i wouldnt want any other. had her bout 7 months and she has never bitten me. they are just timid thats all. however there would be some bastard jungles out there. mines a puppy dog so obviously its wrong to generalise. i'd say each snake has there own personality regardless of what it is. just be patient and wait till you find the right one and ask the seller if its freindly or not
@BowtechBandit yea mine finally bit me after 8 mnths just the other week but i deserved it. i was trying to distract it with me hand so i could use me other to get a dead rat out of her tank. certainly distracted her :)
bein bitten is nuthin. she can bite me all day for all i care
@MissAMLynch their bites dont really hurt. especially the babies. So its not such a big deal if its a bit nippy at first as long as your not a super-pansy or anything. Ive had paper cuts that hurt worse than bites from smallish snakes
@MissAMLynch my baby is a jungle python, and she was my first snake, only bit me once cause i held her food in my hand for too long- don't worry about nips from baby pythons, you dont even notice they've bitten unltil you you bleed, their teeth are so fine. as they get older and handled more, they will bite less so dont let a few scary strikes turn you off these beauuutiful snakes
Looks like a standard carpet or poorly bred Jungle. The colors tend to fade as they age. Could be about to shed. Best snake for a starter is a ball python. Please get it (or any reptile) from a rescue and not a breeder. My jungles are adopted and the colors are stricking. Female is 7'2", is agressive and has a high feeding repsonse. I've yet to meet a ball python that has bitten. All baby snakes do tend to be nippy! I'm not an expert, this is just my experience.
you should try turning the temperature down slightly. Should slow down if you get the temperature right. be careful that you dont turn it down too much
not a coastal, that is most likely a jungle from either a poor bloodline or one that has been in america for generations. they can even slightly change colour throughout their lifespan
i live in queensland australia and i have like 30 of these in my backyard their really beautiful and dur they do eat meat but they grow to about 6-7 foot not 6-8.
their great, bredli pythons are also beautiful their a relative of the jungle and coastal carpets except the bredli is native to the northern territory in australia.
I love carpets! of course all snakes are carnivores! Feed them once or two or three times a week they make wonderfull pets. Carpets or Ball Pathons are the best for beginers. Some say Carpets are more agressive. This is good to bear in mind for children as they are a more energetic snake. If you want a kids snake get a king snake or something.ssssss. Carpets are agressinve but good pets and good feeders and once the snake gets to know you it will love you.
you guys say arnty good for beginers your judging a whole species by the snakes you have i have a jungle never biten me very docile and all of my friends have never beeen bitten by theres (except for one but it was his fault he scared it)
This is a very good beginner snake if you don't want a ball python. Mine has a very good attitude. Just get them young and work with them. Mine nipped for the first 2 weeks, then i moved him to a regular feeding schedule and he's as chill as anything. They do not just ball up though. they will move around. And not all jungles are bright yellow. They will mellow out with age also. and judging by that snakes size and temperment, i'd say it was a few years old. nice pattern though
Haha the way the Americans say python is hilarious. In Australia we don't pronounce the 'y' as much and the 'thon' is more of a 'then'. And look how stressed he is, I wouldn't recommend this for beginners, I would get a spotted if I was a beginner looking for an Aussie Python.
male or females? males tend to be a LOT more docile and aggressive behaviour tends to decrease with regular feeding schedules. keeping that in mind, some snakes (just like humans) tend to be born really antisocial and tend to be pricks nomatter what you try.
arboreal snakes prefer taller enclosures. because when they grow to be 6-7 foot, there isnt much in the way of climbing for them. ud probably want something in the way of 4h x 4l x 2.5d and bigger if you want to increase your chances of breeding
ha! you only needa viv half the length of your snake. if you needed a viv which is only a ft short off of your snakes length then you'd have to keep a full grown retic in a 20-30ft+ viv!
i'm looking at getting a JCP and i was wondering what size viv you keep yours in as it is an adult. I have an old viv which is 4ftX2ftX2ft. Is that big enough??
Z0MG I go to Bob's shop to buy everything!

What's the average weight for an adult male Jungle Carpet Python? I've got a subadult JCP (4.5ft) and im not sure how much I should be feeding him.
Midnight2534 1 year ago
@Midnight2534 at that size probably hopper rats .. you want it so a bulge is left in its belly .. feed once every 7 days
jamesbeckermusic 1 year ago
@jamesbeckermusic ok. how old is my jcp if hes 4.5ft male? he looks like hes crossed with a diamond python as well.

they get there name becasue the color of them could make good camoflage in the jungle? that doesnt sound right to me.
one would assume its because they are native to the rainforest/jungle of queensland.

jungle carpet pythons usualy dont grow as large as other carpet pythons and a 3ftX3ftX2ft would be fine for their whole life!
