  • Haha, once again all the world's haters gathered on one site. None of you actually think about what you could be doing to help instead coming on here and posting comments on a video by a band you can't stand. Holy fuck, it does my brain in and I despair for you people.

I totally agree that U2 are complete bullshit now, and I agree that Bono's a massive bellend. But this song, along with many other U2 tracks, makes people happy.

And finally, I agree with Trabbie - R.I.P The Joshua Tree era.

  • @jowfeedback93 Horsecrap. U2 is still doing some of the best music out there. Bono is a product of the marketplace and he knows it. He had a sense of humor about his image which is more than I can say about the disposable craphounds out there now. Foo Fighters and U2 are the best bands going. There's no such thing as a bad U2 record. Even "Pop" sounds better now than it did when it came out.

  • @derhandtrommler An opinion as valid as mine, and I absolutely agree with you on the subjects of the Foo Fighters and the "disposable craphounds" you so rightly refer to.

Which is more than can be said of U2's latest record. The 1980s were the band's peak and they produced some brilliant music. "The Joshua Tree" is one of my favourite albums of all time and I love this song. I just don't rate their newer stuff.

So not entirely a pile of horsecrap.

  • U2 is the best band ever forever. I wish I were born in 60s to be a teenager in the 80s !

  • @lulli215 You're a smart person. Music was so much better then that there is no comparison. U2's lamest outtake, half assed bullshit was better than anything on radio now with the exception of, maybe, half a dozen bands.

  • OMG U.U

  • The song (and indeed, the Album) that most correctly and gut-wrenchingly defines America.

What an effort from a truly magnificent band.

Bravo U2 - you nailed it.

  • Im 14 and I think u2 is EPIC!

  • @JasonFedok81 I'm 4 & I like Ice Cream.

  • thumbs up if three kings brought you here

  • I love them , u2 4ever ,I'm 18

  • Such a great song. Can someone tell me why I'm the only person at my high school who likes this type of music?

  • @JasonFedok81 same! I guess people our age just don't know good music these days.

This is for sure one of my favorites off of the joshua tree album! a GREAT album. <3

  • @JasonFedok81 because you have taste and lil wayne does nothing for you:)

  • @JasonFedok81 I'm right with you buddy! Literally no one at my school likes U2.

  • @JasonFedok81 I share your feeling. But guess what? I don't give a crap, U2 is just the greatest band in the world. And every day i learn something because of them/their songs.

  • @JasonFedok81 my son likes U2

  • @Izzycuddles09 smart kid.

  • @JasonFedok81

Then you are the only one at your high school with any taste. You are wise beyond your years Jason, hang in there, your peers will eventually cacth up with your sophistication.

  • Sorry, the comment above was directed to you about 1980's music and America. I need to aim better when I am typing.

  • great lyrics, great visuals, small children under the hopes of the US, but dont forget the evil side of the US,eh? id love to see/hear an irish band address, i dont know, possibly issues in their own country still partially under the rule of an outdated colonial aggresor. too much to ask? hmmm, world AIDS relief? great! do you have a single word about the evil muslim world involved in child prostitution? china each year commits a holocaust....uhm...U2? Steven Spielberg? Shakira?nope.SICK USA!

  • I have years of memories with this song- the underlying desire and longing for love.. as everything is life it comes and goes..this time its gone again. Where are you, my special traveller guy I've always wanted to meet?

  • POWER

  • Joshua Tree - the best LP of U2, in my opinion

  • @shifki1 What's an LP?

  • Sleep comes like a drum, In God's Country, Sad eyes, crooked crosses, In God's Country.

  • Apparently we all came out of africa??

Some here miss the point....as someone pointed out, we are one

its called humanity.. enjoy U2 forget the negative comments!

  • thinking mans band....Yes? No?

  • What guitar does bono have at the beginning?

  • Naked flame

She stands with a naked flame

I stand with the sons of Cain

Burned by the fire of love

Burned by the fire of love

  • jcross1kirk, YOUR FIRST STATEMENT IS ACCURATE AND TRUE. NOT REALLY THE PLACE FOR OUR COMMENTS, JUST TOO TEMPTING THOUGH. MIGHT YOU PLEASE DEFINE CIVILIZED AND/OR CIVILIZATION, WE'LL GO FROM THERE. I FULLY SUPPORT THIS BANDS POLITICAL VIEWS OF THE U.S. AND I AM A TRUE U.S. PATRIOT. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT BY THE TIME YOU READ THIS, WORLD POPULATION MIGHT BE SEVEN BILLION, THAT IS SEVEN BILLION OPINIONS. ENLIGHTEN ME PLEASE, THANKS

  • @ASADAAAAAAMA yes,the world pop is out of control, but the problem,U2 and people like you political correctness aside, iis that those of civilised society are trending in the opposite direction, they r declining.the wall street pigs are a very small particle.the problem is poor, uneducated and beyond education people, those who are part of souless china and the muslim extremists and their moderate counterparts, are the world majority.you are on youtube free to express your views because of the west!

  • I';d like to hear bno's latest song aout Muslim hatred and violence and rap....sorry, it has been more than a decade so Obviously I a missing it. Please help me!

  • 99.9% of all of hmanity has lived in abject poverty since the dawn of civilization. Heaven forbid we find a way to beat back poverty and create a middle class (capitalism) just so elitists can find reasons to return the majority to poverty. I'd take a look at the tens of millions socialism, fascism, and communism killed over the last 150 years before I'd throw stones at the United States of America, who sent a hundred thousand of her sons and daughters across the seas to die for freedom.

  • @jcross1kirk Try Millions my friend, Millions.

  • thank god for america, despite this song. enjoy the world to come without it idiots.

  • They are lyrics for a song, that is it, what u want??

  • 2:02 that i call a real contry

  • U2 is the best band of all time and they are about UNITY on so many levels (we are ONE, but we are NOT THE SAME)....come on people commenting, can't we all just get along and groove to the music?!

  • @liz51765 once again, idiotic cliches. smoke some more pot while the world functions.

  • i know youre young, but the world has very deep layers. simple ideals like yours dont really function nor exist. i doubt U2 wants unity. i dont see a compromise with western standards and 13th century values. do you?

  • @fzcamm "i doubt U2 wants unity"...correct, the tax evading con men want to make money, and lots of it. "The world has many deep layers".. lol..enough with the bullshit. Gullible yank by any chance?

U2 are arguably the most contrived band ever, with mr sanctimonious himself at the front of it. His staged yelp "no" at Live Aid was embarrassing. While they prey on the gullible with their nonsensical content, they are (anyone would have to admit) great at marketing and selling a product

  • @Ali74 bitterness is not good for you... i know by experience... the one thing you can do, is to do something, sitting on your ass wont solve a thing, standing at the sidelines is always easy, i know that too by experience, so the choice is standing still or moving on,. and speaking of U2, its always easy to pick at the big bad rock and roll band, cos it costs you nothing to do so... look yourself in the mirror yourself, and ask yourself, what do you do?

  • @Ali74 its that they owe their fame and existence to forms they sing against.

  • @fzcamm I don't think anybody deny's that, not even U2. But they use their fame as a way to bring their message to a very wide audience and they use their money and the money they raise to help a lot of people in need. I admire U2 for using their resources for good. You have to ask yourself this question: is fame a bad thing or is it what most people do with it? Is money itself bad or is it greed?

  • israel is god's country

  • Where's the rest of the band?

  • god bless the USA,not the 1 now,the old one.where their heroics saved the world many times over, the one that allowed idiots like bono to take a part in its destruction. good luck bono with your newest lyrics about the chinese and/or muslims who rule the world now. i know to this point you havent seen anything worthwhile to get all upitty about, enough to rail against, but id like to see what will happen when you do.uh, yeah, and eng still has part of your country as its bitch!gotta song 4 that?

  • Best band on earth. Proud to be half irish descent. American life babay! Best album of all time. I saw Hollywood U2 a few weeks ago they played this and most of the Joshua Tree album! pretty awesome :)

  • @xxleandraxx1 way to go! how did u manage to be half irish? wow, a true hero! i imagine your other half is Idiot, do you take pride and credit in the things that Idiots do? just wondering...

  • @fzcamm Do you take pride in being a asshole to strangers? Just wondering..

  • @xxleandraxx1 being an asshole takes more effort than being what you were born as. so there could be more pride in that than say, if you are puerto rican and proud. having said that, i am not proud to be if i am an asshole.

  • @fzcamm also, do you like anti american songs? yes, this song is. when you and your soulmates can put out a song addressing the worlds true threats, let me know. when at least your irish heroes can effect a positive change in their own back yard, let me know.until then, pyut on your lucky clovers and green paint, and drink some green beer in honor of your half irishness.

  • @fzcamm that's funny. most americans are irish descent.what's got your steam rollin?

  • @bansheewhiskey sorry, not the case at all.even if you lump all scots irish in, still not the case. officially, for "white" people it would be German. whats got me rollin? id like to see those with influence assessing the global situation in a manner that might benefit civilized society. in this schematic, the USA would be quite low on the list of nations to write and sing about.

  • Jesus wasn't a Liberal,...He was the Son of God,......

  • i dont care about the silver and gold in your pockets, what i care about is the soul, no money in the world can buy me a soul, and this band has a lot soul to share...

i do not mind about how much money you make, it is what you do with your money that matters....

as long as u dont forget your pain u can still make great music that matters.... money has nothing to with that, u dont get necessarily jaded when you make a lot of money

  • bono,

    has become,

    a bloody bore.

  • great shots of the 1940s, way to disparage the us even in that time.bono and U2 and shakira are cowards. they attack who they can, without risk. U2 has nothing to say about the world crisis, mus terror, not a word. cowards. its the us, taking sides with the lesser of 2 evuils. U2 tours and becomes billionaires through US technology, but hates the same thing. liars, cowards,

  • @fzcamm amen to that!!!

  • I don't know. I grew up on 1980's music and enjoy it. It's catchy perhaps in all generations. The song is a wonderful tribute to America in World War II. That should appeal to many people in that war in America and abroad. God bless America.

  • @fzcamm I agree with you up to a point but it was normal people all over the world who embraced U2's music and paid money to hear their cds.If they are rich because of this then that makes sense.Simple maths. If they sing about corruption good for them.

  • @bansheewhiskey no, they and other celebrities have obscured the worlds true evils. they continue to do so. was bush an idiot? yes. was the us during his time evil? no. while idiots , yes, idiots, like bono spread their propaganda nobody takes the worlds true threats seriously.celebrities unfortyunately shape opinion. only in my view can something as reasoable and sensible as the AZ law against illegal immigration be turned on its head.

  • this version is tuned up half a step higher than on the album. huh...

  • Absolutely love this song. One of my favorites. Never knew they made a video for it until now.

  • burned by the fire of "love:"

  • Like this song ,and the lyrics describe America greatly

OMGosh the guitar solo 2:07 - 2:21 sounds amazing

  • Bono is so freakin' HOT!

  • Bono has become sooo liberal, I wonder if he even believes in God Almighty anymore,....smh!

  • Bono so liberal. lol That's one of the funniest, goofiest comments I've seen in a while. Thanks. Wanting to help and donate is SO HIPPIE..like that guy who met and fed the poor-Jesus! ;)

  • @witri9 Jesus was a liberal

  • Thanx very much xx

  • Every once in a while some people have the chance to be a hero, like in three kings. This song speaks for itself, in God's country we will live someday.

  • its just typical of celebrities-they want to be edgy, but not at the expense of their career nor lives. so they take a favorite and comfortable target-the US. the 80s were quite interesting, great song about how great the US COULD be,if there wasnt the KKK. of course, any educated american knows how insignificant the KKK is for 50 yrs.the funny thing is, the kith and kin, the soul of the KKK rules northenr ireland, at the expense of the irish.any U2 song about this?fame and safety.

  • It sure sounds and looks to be a rip on the US.

    ....Sleep comes like a drug

    In God's Country

    Sad eyes, crooked crosses

    In God's Country

  • It sure sounds and looks to be a rip on the US

  • 15 people have no flame in their soul..

  • one song, one alone, from U2 or shakira, singing about the horrors of the muslim faith! one, please! not a single mainstrean pop song about the most horrible people in the world, not one! yes, we allll know very well how evil america is, that they have not saved everyone from whatever particular ill! bono, an irishman, hasnt much to say about the fact that england still sits in aq part of hios clountry.

  • @fzcamm hiii have you acyually look at what the band is singing about?...coz you will see you are soo wrong x

  • @carolcemrobyn id like to know your interpretation.why i am wrong, and what they would be saying.i think the images are obvious, a dichotomy of the great nation, but where am i astray?

  • @fzcamm HIII im putting in to you a very BIG APOLOGY as i put my imput in about the wrong song and im very sorry if i intruded and upset you in any way ....my best regards to you xx

  • @carolcemrobyn ok, no prob, peace.

  • Is this really the music video for 'In God's Country'?

  • @RahenyBohs Nope.

  • americas freedom and genorosity has destroyed it.

  • America. The favorite target of celebrities and musicians for decades. while assholes like bono are nit picking about america, slavery continues in africa, rape es epidemic in the world, china destroyed tibet and is poised to overtake the world financially-not to mention muslim fanatics and their moderate muslim accomplices. cowards.

  • if there ever was a god he sure sent his angels in the right way

  • The Joshua Tree and Unforgettable Fire actually do work when driving through the American southwest. The most perfect soundtrack for that!

  • Greatest band on earth!

  • @ketankshukla You can say again

  • @ketankshukla You can say again

  • @ketankshukla You can say that again

  • Shame about the sound quality, brings back many beautiful memories though

  • like a swallow, I am weak.

  • Side 2 of the joshua tree is some of the best music ever made

  • @avzeolla I own the CD...;-) and it's U2s best work...the whole thing. But I heard the vinyl first...by pure chance at this time I wasn't a fan...and listen to it more often and often...felt in love a.s.o.

  • @avzeolla Correct! mothers of the disapeared and one tree hill are my favourite tracks on the album.

  • We all sholud stand and fight this system that is killing not only us,but the entire planet. There will be the day where we'll live in God's country my brothers and sisters.

  • Oh sweet, I never knew there was a video for this Beautiful//Magnificent song (if you pardon the pun)

  • This is music from the heart to the soul. Food for the humanitarian revolutionary.

    Beautiful!

  • awesome . I have never seen this promo before. . awesome!

  • I love this song, I made a video for God Pt II, check it out ... youtube.com/watch?v=1_NctqNddkk

  • the joshua tree comes close to being as good as the unforgettable fire for me .the 2 albums are just outstanding.

  • This country died.

  • how guilty does this song make u feel? love u2, longtime johnny!!

  • For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world,

  • I'm very angry

  • Toglietemi tutto ma non questa canzone...e quest'uomo!!!!!!!!!

  • This song drips soul! It grabs hold of your heart like a vice grip

  • god? please dont make me laugh

    THERE IS NO GOD

and if there is he probably likes killing babies.. appearantly..

  • @jijweethetookniet its fine your athiest, but dont be a dick like that...

  • this is real rock.......and yes.....iam black lol

  • Everything U2 upto this album is EPIC. Afterwards, utter bullshit. U2 Underground will always be better than U2 mainstream. Thanks for the video! :)

  • @DakotaY12 lol second that

  • such a little jewel of a song - says so much in so little time -- the only thing to touch it is Rock n Roll Woman by Buffalo Springfield -

  • @SupernalOne U R very insightful my friend! I totally agree!

  • i dont care whether people like u2 or not the fact remains they have written some beautiful songs and this is one of them.a really moving song.

  • Eguipt

  • And your country ?? Its devil's country ? Stupids millonaire's comunist.......

  • No regrets coming to America, but I miss God's Country everyday. :(

  • @unlikeanyotherhuman I always took it as bono commenting about the world and the people on it in that cain killed abel in the bible and therefore everyone is the decendant of cain.

  • @tcsonline I agree completely.

  • sublime melody

  • No Lexus, Infiniti only.

  • A great song!!

  • This is an extremely Old song. Its great too. Why the hell do people make comments without researching first.

  • you know hes talking about america right? not irland. The irish ppl are immigrating there. DUH. (thts why they keep showing lady liberty....) (;

  • @kenna2335 Rattle and Hum is like an all R&B inspired album. A tribute to America in sort of a way. It really is about America in many ways. You could come here to "God's Country" and make miracles. Don't know about that now-lol, but I feel the connection.

  • @TreatsandThreads

u2 arent rnb muse is rnb u2 is hip hop accourding to actung baby

  • @TreatsandThreads this song is from TJT not RandH, also, religion makes moral people do bad things.

  • What ever people's opinion of Bono are, surely they can't deny the class of this album.

  • Favorite U2 song all time. Awesome !!

  • Amo a U2

  • WTF? A Bono solo or U2 vid? Where the hell's the rest of the band? Another vid from the vault released 20 years after production? Great song, but this sounds like a 33 rpm album being played at 78!

  • Ireland is God's Country. And U2 is God's Band.

  • @MichaelD8393 most of ireland has been englands country until recently.

  • @MichaelD8393 not ulster-that part is englands.

  • @MichaelD8393 ulster ireland is englands country, not gods. gods group U2 doesnt have much to say about that, now do they?

  • I love all U2 albums. However, Achtung Baby! have always had a special place in me. When it was first released I was in the early years of junior school. The first song played by the local radio was Mysterious Ways. There was something in it, unique, colorful, like magic, something I've never heard before. I felt like I met my soulmate. I've always had all kinds of music played by my family, but this sounded different. I loved it. The next one they played was One and they had also the video on

  • when this albumn came out ,THIS is the moment U2 became the biggest Rock N roll band in the WORLD.

they is not a albumn anywhere in the world that can beat JOSHUA TREE

  • it moves me as much as it did when it came out.

It's faith, but a faith not bound by dogma of any sect. Pure faith, pure belief, not in the words but in love.

  • you need new dreams tonight, america, god s own country.

  • @jmusicpower U.S, America is a continent.

  • @9600Nvidia

    NORTH AMERICA IS A CONTINENT!!!

  • I present to you the ultimate question: Achtung Baby or The Joshua Tree?

  • @InATelescopeLens

They are two different U2's. Achtung Baby was part two of U2. Joshua Tree was the pinnacle of U2 part 1.

  • @99paxil59 Agreed! (but i like Achtung just a 'little' more) They both are AMAZING!
