For example, let's say Ohio State fan befriends visiting Penn State fan. Ohio State fan reccomends great bar for Penn State fan. Penn State fan meets a girl in the bar, they end up hitting it off and even dating one another. If not for sports, that couldn't have happened. Here's another example, sports can improve a city's economy, simply by bringing in visiting and home fans. Tell a restuarant owner for example that sports don't affect his life and he/she will laugh in your face.
@Kaliske First off, communties rally for sporting events. It kind of simulates the "my country winning a war" feeling without any bloodshed. As a result, it fosters community pride. It brings in new people into the city that normally wouldn't even go to the city, in some cases athletes, in some cases visiting fans. Home fans can befriend the visiting fans who otherwise would have no idea that one another exists. By meeting those people, one's connections could improve.
@Kaliske If you don't understand sports, then don't troll sports videos. If you understood sports, you'd see that a lot of things are different and that it is beneficial not just to the college but the town as well. I'd list the things that improve when a team wins, but I doubt you'd get it. You could also argue that anything for fun has no change on your career, income, etc, but do you want to go there? But then again, I shouldn't take seriously anyone's comments that start and end with "lol".
i was gonna storm the field but decided against it because it was cold as hell and i didnt want to be stuck there for an hour (i know im a pussy) that that was badass as hell to be at
what an awesome win for iowa, any penn state fan who says we got lucky..you guys were #3! even if we didn't kick that fieldgoal, you should have won by more than that, i think we played well
it sucks to hear that, as a huge big ten fan(BIGGER hawkeye fan) i have nothing but respect for the Penn St. football team and Joe Pa (joe pa is a class act) but you my friend are a DOUCHE BAG so in spite of you FUCK PSU!
Dude that was so awesome i was somewhere around to ur left i was shoving it in so many psu fans there they atarted to cry and i was still laughing hahahahah it was awesome the atmasphere there was the best and just to be in kinnick that nite !!!!!!!!!!!!!!shonn greene!!!!!!!!!!!!!go hawks pre-season rank for 09
Thanks for telling me, I didn't know that Penn State lost the game played last September, I also didn't know that Bobby Bowden stepped down as head coach of FSU either.
It doesn't prove anything to talk trash six months after the fact, so why bother? By now, I don't think anybody is focusing on last year and we're more focused on this year. Have fun beating a depleted and pitiful PSU team this year, but 2011 won't go Iowa's way, most of our skill players will have had 2010 to mature.
@Hawkeyeballer12 Do you really think anyone expected Penn State to win this year? Come on. Beating a down PSU team this year was expected. Last year Iowa exposed our special teams. So what? Syracuse did that. Your wait will be over next year, I guarantee it. It wasn't that long ago that Penn State smashed Iowa in Beaver Stadium 27-7, I expect something similar in Kinnick when Penn State is loaded and Iowa is rebuilding. By the way, Northwestern is "still waiting" for Iowa to beat them.
@MVillani1985 who the hell are you? coming in here talkin trash about iowa when penn state lost this year and they've lost what 7 of 9? all of those years penn state wasn't "rebuilding" then, oh and by the way we've got a sophmore running back that's been carrying the load. You wanna talk about rebuilding ok let's talk about how next year's recruiting class every single recruit that is considering iowa is in the espn u 150.
@cougakid1823 Really? Those years where PSU went 5-7, 5-6, 3-9, and 4-7? Those were beyond rebuilding, those were down years. Yes, you beat us those years, but EVERYONE did. 2002 was a good win, but Iowa was a great team that year. 2008 was a legit upset, 2009 both teams were even but Iowa made the big plays. This past year Penn State had no chance. I'm not running down Iowa, just saying that we should look more at 2007-2010. 3 out of 4 is still impressive. But PSU was not good in 2000-2004.
@MVillani1985 right they wern't good in 00-04 but iowa wasn't exactially you're typical national powerhouse and in 07-10 the one year you beat us iowa was rebulding we went 6-6 and that year penn state went 9-4
@cougakid1823 Penn State in 2007 was rebuilding too, we both finished bowl eligible and 4-4 in conference, so with as much as Ferentz has outcoached Paterno over the years, it was surprising that the 2007 game was such a resounding thumping, even if it was at Beaver Stadium (that was not a terrible Iowa team, subpar yes, but terrible no). 2008 was a good upset, I'll give you that. For 2009 and 2010 Iowa is a good team. Speaking of Iowa, I hope the Hawkeyes topple the Buckeyes on Saturday.
@MVillani1985 At the start of the season PSU was actually thought to be a good team, and also the 27-7 "Smashing" of iowa? Anybody can look in the past to try and argue but what matters is the present.
@Hawkeyeballer12 Well, at the start of 2010, Iowa was thought to be a good team, and for a more dramatic example, everyone thought that Texas was going to be competing for a second straight national title. I put little stock in preseason polls anyway.
Well technically, anything before today is the past, and in the present, I'm waiting for bowl season to start. I'd like to see Penn State smother Florida to bring good momentum into 2010, also I hope Iowa mops up Missouri something like 51-17.
quiet Melrose ave with barely enough energy to lick the salt off the Naval of a sexy young girl at the Airliner.Anyway I finally watched it on my DVR and I'd like to thank you for staying tough with your camera and allowing this Hawkeye to feel a little of what it was like to rush Kinnick field. Thank You. Go Hawks!!
I grew up in Iowa as a devoted Hawkeye fan. I attended University of Iowa '94-'98. I now live in Scottsdale AZ. I try to get back for the big games unfortunately I could not make it to this one.Shit I refused to watch anymore of it after the roughing the kicker bullshit call! I took my dogs to the park and tried to enjoy the weather here.(75degrees) All I could do is think about the bad ass Fans who have (myself included)endured so many cold heartbreaking losses, trudging home on a dark chilly
Afterwards they all went home and realized how meaningless this victory was to their lives.
