I had this surgery done, and it really didn't help because there's alot more to having a healthy sinus than just how straight the bone in your septum is. The deviated septum is most likely a cause of unhealthy swallowing or breathing habits, but no doctor will ever address those because their job is to correct the effect- not identify the cause. Doctors are mostly compartmentalized-thinking drones who take orders and have little critical rationality other than cutting and giving pills.
I had septoplasty done 1.5 years ago. Recently, I have to go to see doctors due to a recurring nasal congestion, especially my right nostril. The doctors are telling me that my septum is deviated to the right! However, prior to the surgery, my septum was deviated to the left. Plus, I have been having a weird sensation on my right nostril. Is this all normal or the surgery itself was an unsuccessful one? Thanks.
Are you a doctor trying to find a few moments to relax. My wife is trying to find a few leads on a residency program. I am willing to donate money to a program; 40K a year for 2 years; to cover her Y1 and Y2 expenses. California preferred; radiology or pathology a plus.
ismoked marijuana 3 times on different days after having this surgery done..... after about 4 days after.... is this extremely detrimental... will it cause an infection?,,,, i have stopped now... and will do so... for thenext few weeks to help recovery.... please let me me know thank you.....
Look how it says cosmetic surgery on his white coat. Real surgeons practice plastic surgery not cosmetic. He's a weekend course kinda doctor if that. People don't b duped.
I had this surgery done. The main reason I got this surgery is because of my breathing. But I still have trouble breathing it didn't really do anything beside making my nose straight. Any advise I very bad sinus affection too. Please someone help me out.
omg this surgery hurt so fucking muc!!!!! i actually woke up punching the doctors lol wtf? yea thats what i said. now that its over im popping vicodin like they are pez candy. something they dont tell you is that you have a non stop nose bleed for 1 to 3 days :(

Had cautery to turbinates & sub mucous resection a week ago here in the UK & yesterday cried a couple of tears from a sad event then my nose just released lots of blood & i fainted, i was not in the same town i had the surgery and was taken to a hospital where they just told me to pinch my nose, im worried as dont know what caused the bleeding, will it grow back wrong ie blocked and uneven etc with the halthcare system here nobody has any time and the closest i can see a specialist is 6 weeks.
its unlucky because people in the U.S have to pay for there own health care but the U.K health care is free because it is payed for by taxes so say you broke your leg in america you might have to pay several thousand dollars for surgery :) but in U.K it would be free
Careful, many people today are all about the dough. Many times surgeons in addition to making the septum straight, they "trim" the turbinates. This can have devastating affect on the patient, leaving them in a state of torture where they are conscious of there breath. Look up empty nose syndrome. ENT doctors want to minimize the risks, and want nothing to do with these patients after they left them in that state.
deviated surgery is much safer, then work on your turbinate. many people who have had turbinate surgery end up committing suicied, and some are in psychiatric institution. try to find an ent who doesnt automatically touch the turbinate when he straightens your septum. Often time a hypertrophied turbinate can shrink in size after a septoplasty, might take a while. dont trust the ent community, these horrible consequences dont happen with every surgery, and some people actually breath better.
its not me who made the link, its the people who actually committed suicide. dont shoot the messenger. . Imagine every breath you take is uncomfortable, where your body is screaming for mucous, where you cant sleep or concentrate. there have been many suicides as a result of turbinate surgery because of the extreme suffering. In almost all these cases these people who live a tortured life there ents refuse to take any responsibility. look up empty nose syndrome.
Ive heard of patients praying for cancer so they can end there torture, the suffering is so extreme. One patient prayed for cancer, got terminal cancer, and was relieved and hopeful his suffering will come to an end. the ent who caused this devastation might acknowledge the patient has a little dryness, make it sound benign. I have personally talked to so many of these patients, and its the same story over and over, the ents despite there intelligence refuse to listen.
wow mate you seem pretty passionate about this. My bro is thinking of deviated septum surgery should I warn him about this? What do you mean by they are conscious of their breathing, aernt we all?
I had a surgery that was suppose to be a simple procedure, and i suffer everyday because of it. The turbinate surgery was sold to me as if there was no risk, i would give all the money in the world to be like how i was before this butcher put his hands on me. i found out after there is a group of people with exactly the same symptoms, look up empty nose syndrome or atrophic rhinitis, deviated septum surgery is relatively safe, careful with the turbinates.
hey i am searching for a surgeon at this moment and came accross ur comments. i have a deviated septum to the right of the midline w/pneumatization of the left middle turbinate, which is enlarged..should i get the septum surgery and have them enlarge the area around the turbinate rather than the turbinate itself? that should be ok, right? good lookin out, thanks.
if your septum is to the right, maybe your left turbinate is enlarged to compensate for the deviation. pneumatization so there is air in the turbinate, not sure, i am by no means an expert. I have heard of studies when a deviated septum was corrected the hypertrophied turbinate went back to regular size, obviously this doesnt happen with everyone. Like i said do your own research be extremely cautious when someone operates on your turbinates.
ok...i have an appt this tuesday w/ent to review mri's..i have many health issues because of this problem and look forward to getting it repaired. i am scared though that i could end up worse. i can barely breathe, sleep or eat.and just physically wiped out from the sleep apnea. i'll make it a point to discuss it w/the surgeon though, i'm glad i read ur post or i would have never known.
its scary to trust the ent. Ents are not trained to understand how the turbinates are interconnected to your heart and breath. Some say ens doesnt exist some say its rare, they as a group minimize the symptoms. All i can say is be very careful if you let the ent operate on your turbinate.
I just got nose surgery in the UK it cost me £0

How could you relate turbinate surgery to suicide ? I think its you that needs the psychiatric institution !
