Sony HDR CX100 HD Lady Bug

I bought a SONY HDR-CX100. It was well worth the money! Crisp clear image using standard definition. I haven't experimented with the HD yet.

does this camera have a manual focus or lock? How come it doesn't try to focus on the background (assuming it only has auto focus)?

when i upload the qualitys not nearly as good but i use the highest quality settings, it captures this good of quality but doesnt upload this good any suggestions

@Warlic217 I would not recommend gettings this if you are planning to shoot something serious to show to people, like a film or something. Rather buy the Canon 550D or something newer. This camera is just a basic "family shooting" camera with lack of features.

WOW, this quality is ridiculous...as in very good. I have the same camera but can not seem to get good quality when I upload..or even onto my computer for that matter. When I look at it on my camera it looks like this very very clear but something goes wrong when I upload it....CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU USED TO EDIT AND WHAT FORMAT YOU UPLOADED IT>>THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

@MacMike1000 I haven't had a problem, it will just show up how any old sony camera would on your mac.

@ellendz yes, I just got a newer version but I haven't ran into any issues on my imac. the only thing is it opens iphoto and is shown as a memory stick in your finder. no big deal.

I have a macbook OS X 2 GHz 2GB with iphoto 6. I have this camera but i have no idea how to get the videos from the camera to imovie in my macbook. Do you know how to do it or what I need to do?

Kaerfirarref....... You have to import videos thru imovie, just hook the usb up to the computer and imovie should recognize it, be sure to look at the touchscreen once its hooked up it will ask you to verify the usb connection first......... i know imovie 09 works with it, not sure about previous versions.

Hi, my roommate has this camera and several Mac computers. It IS compatible with the Macs. There's a link on Sony's site that addresses several issues, but I can dig it out. Leave me note here, if you wish.. and I'll check on it on Sunday. Thanks

For all the mac guys:

OSX is not able process AVCHD movies natively, but there are 2 possibilities to manage your hd videos

- iMovie is able to detect the camera and you can directly import the clips from the cam (with minimal quality loss)

- convert the raw .MTS files to .mov using third party software. Shedworx has done a great job with VoltaicHD (its worth its price)

I keep the .MTS files until OSX will be able to process them and convert them for editing.
