@ezrhino100 Actually no, Allan would wipe the floor with Batio. Batio could never play lines as harmonically rich as holdsworth's with such effortlessness. Batio is a wanky little joke who plays nothing of any standout musical value. Also, put Batio in an improvisational setting and he would crumble. You do realize that Allan is improvising right? Allan is on his own level, nobody can touch him.
@ezrhino100 Im sorry if my post came off as hostile. I didn't mean for it to be in that tone, its hard to convey feelings over the internet. Anyway, it's nice to have a good discussion on music and artists every now and then :)
Is there anybody capable of duplicating this solo here on YouTube? You see a lot of people doing duplicates solos of Randy Rhoads,Stevie Ray Vaughan,Eric Clapton,Jimi Hendrix ect...But I'd like to see somebody do this one.I'm sure there's somebody out there capable.Or maybe not.The guy is a genius.Totally dedicated to his instrument and his art.
@lucancherby - youtube search - Shawn Lane - Madness at MIT in 93 - the emotional value is the same. Pure dissonant wanking. Gary Husband is the worst drummer for AH in m opinion. He drums all over him, and AH doesn't have a percussive sound to cut through...he needs a jazz drummer, not a rock jazz drummer. He sounded real good with a dude with a ponytail..can't remember his name.
I just can't think in my life without Allan Holdsworth. This music takes me to the 80's listen Metal Fatigue and change my mind forever. Metal Fatigue Album changes my love for the music. This I am sure. Thanks Allan Holdsworth. Thanks Garfnart.
@noodlesmealey I'm serious, but I'm not sure what it is you're trying to say to me. I'm going to assume that English is not your first language. "Holy crap" is an expression of amazement or incredulity. "Shed" is short for "woodshed" which is a colloquial term for a place to study and practice music. "Back in the shed" is meant as a remonstrance to myself, to continue practicing. I hope you are having a pleasant day.
@noodlesmealey -jeffrey,whoa relax, are you saying that holdsworth has to woodshed? hes gotta go practice?
listen these guys play HUNDREDS of shows and if you are too stupid to realize like comedians not ALL material is gold or can be gold. well, perhaps you are jealous. we should fight cause its neither my craft or yours its theirs. GET A LIFE PEOPLE.
@noodlesmealey Dude, he did not say that at ALL. jeffreyburr simply said that Holdsworth is so good that he should go and practice some more, a feeling shared amongst many. Dont be so confrontational man, we are all just here loving Holdsworth... =]
@DLRisVH No doubt, Holdsworth is amazing, but I have to give the "king" title to Stanley Jordan. He could play Holdsworth's rhythms and leads simultaneously -- make them swing, play even faster, and even more lyrically, in my opinion.
@ChuckyChives You removed your comment. Was that a mistake? If so, here it is:

@DLRisVH lol did you confuse this with an yngwie video? a shredder is someone who plays fast for the sake of playing fast. yngwie actually has some emotion, and all the people who copy him have close to none. allan is the best guitar player who ever lived. his depth, reserve, and capacity for playing anything, at any time, are unmatched. he just may be the greatest improvisor in the history of music, on any instrument. people faint at his live shows watching him play

Lane + Holdsworth sit atop the Mt. Rushmore of electric guitar artistry + prowess.

@Easleytee Who's Lane? Seriously, I'd like to hear him if he's anywhere as good as Allan.
triplettam 2 months ago
@triplettam
He was fast-I'll grant him that, that's what all this pissing contest is all about. Buckethead, Gilbert -they're all mind blowingly fast.
Poor slow guitarists don't get a mention.
Samsgarden 1 month ago
@Samsgarden Well, they used to call Clapton "slowhand." Anyway, I still want to know who Lane is that Easleytee was talking about. Do you know?

Shawn lane, youtube him -not difficult.

@Samsgarden Thanks, I guess. It was just a simple question. Anyway, he's pretty good. I like Roy better.
