  • Ripples never come back ...

  • The most beautiful Genesis song...EVER

  • for all of our mothers thanks for being who you are xx

  • Ascoltando questo capolavoro mi riesce proprio difficile dire che i Genesis non sono stati più loro dopo l'abbandono di Peter Gabriel . Molti la pensano così ma sbagliano alla grande!

  • masterpiece !

  • i am 54 now and have loved Genesis since i was about 17. This particular track always makes me emotional, don't know why but it has always stuck in my mind. Just brilliant. A masterpiece.

  • Who else can write songs like this? Thank you Genesis... just beautiful.

  • phil just sings this (very very well) but the lyrics were written by mike and the music by tony, the only 2 to perform on every genesis song, all of the band past and present have agreed that (tongue in cheek) Genesis was tony's solo project.

  • Don't retire Phil! Just about had it but hey...

  • Didn't Gabriel attend the first post-Peter show and say that he loved it?

Trick of the Tail is a masterpiece. And Phil after years of, well, less than subtle vocalizing, absolutely nails this.

Fair play to you, Phil. Fair fu*king play, son.

  • Love you Genesis!!! <3

  • Love!

  • WOW

  • Phil, you do an amazing job of this song... angels never know it's time, to close the book and gracefully retire, we love you Genesis

  • My favourite singer and band. At the beggining was only Genesis ;)

  • The instrumental from 4:06 to 5:40 should be hanging in a museum, Only 67k views of this versus Gaga and Beibers' millions, someone should be shot.

  • Genesis Six Hours Live 1972-1980 2DVD set, Genesis The Lamb Live at the Shrine 1975 3-disc 2CD/DVD set available at Tommygun Video, please see our Youtube channel for link to site/clips/more info

  • Pure emotion...I love Phil!

  • I dedicate this song to my beautiful mom. She was the most generous, gorgeous, classy, gentle, giving, strong & kind person I've EVER had the pleasure of knowing, and not because she was my mom. Everyone who met her, called her "mom". How I miss that beautiful face, and as she got older, she disliked her wrinkles, but laughed, and I hope I can only be as strong & wonderful as her. Thank you Genesis for creating this beautiful song. We had tickets, but she's gone in flesh, and I miss her.

  • @MiKriya

what a fantastic tribute to your lovely Mum.this song makes the hairs stand up on my neck

    very powerful emotions from it

my Mum is as wonderful as yours and thats exactly how i feel about the love for her.

    take care

    Mags aka skittzitilby

  • @MiKriya God Bless You, I Love My Mother the Same and was very touched by your post... Your mother was an amazing person and blessing to this earth I am sure who touched many hearts... Christ's Love To You,,,

  • no shabby guys.. One of my fave tunes... Learn the chords....Where's Hackett ? lol

  • no shabby guys.. One of my fave tunes... Learn the chords....

  • I have nothing against Phil's voice. In fact i think it's brilliant. It's just that, over time, he's added all these "you know the"s and "yes, and now"s and that sort of becomes a little too cheesy for me... Nevertheless, great performance!

  • Questa versione è piu' emozionante dell'originale!

  • Cresci ouvindo esta musica, e toda vez que escuto gosto mais um pouco.

    Amo Genesis !!!

    Adoro esta musica.

  • I love this song. One on my many Fav's. But I have to say, Phil's voice is getting better w/ age. He sang this song w/ passion and depth. I had tickets, but couldn't go, and I'm so glad you posted this. I just don't believe there is another band better. Close of course, but not better. JMO

  • Grazie per tutte le emozioni che ci avete regalato................

  • Tony Banks = Brilliant and sometimes un-noticed and overshadowed by the frontmen.

  • superb...............as always.............

  • 'fanculo , mi vengono lelacrime....

  • @axoram anche a me!

  • A masterpiece..

  • The 6th minute, fits a dad with his son, you're a big, whoever you are.

  • Outstanding! Phil Collins is and always will be "The Man" , What a song!, what a voice!

  • Damn , that's good . Spent this evening looking through the years of Genesis , Phils voice has altered with age but not in a bad way he still carries tone passion and world uniting quality , at last an English export to be proud of .

Sounds cheesy but .. We all owe the guys thanks for a song for each emotion we have be it joy sorrow or when we need inspiration . If you get chance have a look at " carpet crawler s" the early live version and hear the clarity and sensitivity of a truly beau

  • Daryl is amazing on this, classic genesis at there very best

  • Outstanding! Listened to this song in the early 80's when no one heard of it... Great job boys keeping it alive. Goosebumps still, after almost 30 years!

  • Great job on guitar from Daryl... probably it's the first time he sounds so Hackettish...;-)

the lesson is: LESS IS MORE ...

  • Just beautiful these guys are the complete masters of their trade my all time favourites Mal

  • One of the most beautifully crafted sounds in modern music. There is nothing like it.

  • Softly spoken, carefully guarded secrets are herein told... but there's hope.

Flowers push forth from the garden... Glistening in morning dew, bursting with beauty... Slowly the petals unfold, and bloom so bright... and finally they fall to the ground...

But Mad Man Moon always rises, and overnight the Garden takes back her daughters to be born anew... This is the cycle of life. THE RIPPLES DO COME BACK.

  • Brilliant Banks/Rutherford Masterpiece!!!!!

  • thanks so much for posting!!!!!!!

amazing masters of their art.no one can touch them for sure.

    individually or together.

i bought this concert on dvd several years ago and not a week goes by where i don't lose myself in the music.,....haven't worn it out yet!!LOL

    a ''must buy'' for fans...;-)

    Daryl Stuermer....amazing

  • Amo lo extraño.......fluyo o no?

  • I'll never forgive myself for not seeing them during their reunion tour!

I was only a student and thought the tickets too expensive. I've regretted my decision ever since, especially when watching fantastic performances like this.

  • @WhiteWolfDief - Repent, my friend, and find forgiveness for yourself. Because of this, the Universe has granted us YouTube...

  • L'assolo mi fa venire la pelle d'oca...Meraviglioso!!!!

  • beppino50 grandissima emozione. Pezzo stupendo e loro sempre super.

  • greg rolie leaving santana to start journey, frank zappa auditioning drummers to replace chester thompson, darrell stuermer finishing his work with jean-luc-ponty to begin a career with genesis, and then peter standing still thinking, "now what"...

  • hollywood bowl 4 me, after 14 times, los angeles basin area, a glorious experience of anyone's lifetime

  • che bei ricordi!!!! tornare indietro non si puo' ma questi spezzoni di vita sono sempre un bel ricordo.....

  • Classical track , one of the best the group ever recorded.

  • bellissima canzone. Per me un ricordo nostalgico di un tempo che fu. Dedicato a Roberta

  • I was so disappointed this tour except for this. They should have a show for all the Genesis pre 1980 music & a show for Genesis post 1980 music then you'd (I'D HEAR!!!) hear more of that amazing old stuff & No "In the Cage" retire that one boys!

  • I was there still got the shivers !!

  • IMHO, Daryl Stuermer is the best guitarist I've ever heard.

  • @illu73 Daryl's is a great guitarist but he could never nail it like Steve Hackett could, but here he is nothing short of superb!

  • @illu73 Daryl is an absolute world-class guitarist. Genesis was fortunate to have both him and Chester in their live band.

  • @julioscissors does anyone remember jean-luc-ponty's first three albums with mr. stuermer...

  • Sometimes i cry to listen this song

  • Pelle d'oca e lacrimoni trattenuti a stento, groppo in gola e cuore rapito! Impareggiabili!

  • Al 6° minuto circa, si inquadra un papà con il proprio figlioletto, sei un GRANDE, chiunque tu sia.

  • Beautiful... and perhaps Daryl's finest moment on this tour!

  • This was such a great concert!

  • pure brilliance

  • Che artisti ragazzi !!! Sono cresciuto con i genesis...quanta nostalgia e sensazioni che ho ad ascoltare questa canzone !!!!

  • Possibly their most beautiful song. I`m surprized they played it ,I think I would have fainted, never heard them do it live.

  • @faropal

You know how I feel about this song. If it wasn't for you I never would have heard any of this. No wonder you won my heart!

  • ..one of my absolutely favs of Genesis!

5/5 vid well done,THANKS for posting!

    greetings from SUN :))

  • This is very good, apart from his 'style of a club singer' bits.

  • I went to this gig, so so so damm hot all day long.

When Ripples came on I was in floods of tears. I couldn't believe they played it.

The hot day, lovely city, dark skies and surroundings made it such a special concert. O and some 500,000 people.

    fergi

  • I personally think, Steve Hackett did a better job on this solo part

  • that ship has sailed big time man,, just enjoy the song!!

  • this just shows how professional they still are. even after all these years and after phil's voice has changed, they still can make this song beautiful!

  • "The face that launched a thousand ships."

  • i used to play this in bedroom 35 years ago ,still never tire of it ,great song

  • So Very Beautiful~ Thank you for posting this video

  • Incredibile, immagine e suono davvero eccellenti.

    Complimenti.

    Un vecchio fan ;-)

  • beautiful

  • semplicemente fantastica!

  • Very brave of PC to sing this song. Not an easy song to sing with all those highs. The song itself is pure art. Gorgeous.

  • First time i went to a Genisis they didn't play Ripples...Thank you for the upload and thank Genisis

  • Awesome!

  • the best version of Ripples ever.

    I wish I was there ;)

The Instrumentalpart is one of the best =)

    5Stars**

  • Talking about the arrangements of the song, I think it's great team work. Phils voice is touching, and the music is wonderful, this is the kind of son that can take a tear out of me and although it was written by Tony and Mike, it always sounded to me like a "Steve Hackett" song, reminds me of "The Lovers" or "Hands of the Priestess"

  • I completely disagree.. That fantastic guitar solo you are hearing wouldn't sound quite the same without the synth harmonies. I also think the volumes accompanying the instrumentation are perfect. A masterpeice and nothing less.

  • Tony's synths provide the atmosphere that helps make the guitar solo so great. It really IS a masterpiece!

  • Besides Daryl respected Steve's solo this time. Not that he "disrespects" Hackett's work, what I mean that it really sounds like good old Steve were there.

  • Marching to the promised land

Where the honey flows and takes you by the hand,

Pulls you down on your knees,

While youre down a pool appears.

The face in the water looks up,

And she shakes her head as if to say

That its the last time youll look like today.

Pure lyrical genius. Is there another band out there that gives such a complete live experience as Genesis? Probably not. Simply brilliant

  • It was arranged that way. Open your ears & mind, the guitar can be heard just fine. There are many songs that feature just Daryl or Steve. I real Genesis fan would not have such a silly complaint. "Shut up Tony"? Try - SHUT UP ELUSIVEBIRDMAN! That would help us all. Just say you don't care for the complete instrumentation of the tune.

  • When I was 15 years old, I had this song played as the last song at Summer Camp, rather than the old stand by 'Stairway to Heaven'. I am almost 45 now and STILL this remains the most hauntingly beautiful, meaningful, touching song. I cry every time I hear it. 30 Years later, much has changed yet much remains the same.

  • Hey Sheila,

I want to cry every time I hear this song... It's painfully beautiful. Genesis was on some other spiritual plane when they made 'The Tail'. Peace. Ben

  • ithinkit'sdweezilandnataliethatstillsingwiththeirparents...

  • My favorite performance from the dvd. This tour had the best set list ever!! Lot of really old stuff

  • è stato meraviglioso!!! :)

  • Sensationell - danke für's posten !

  • Didn't even realize this was out yet, what a treat! I'm so heading to the store tomorrow...

  • Greatest band of all time! FACT !!!

  • One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, and the best DVD of my collection!

  • koo

  • AWESOME!!!!

  • Brilliant. The whole concert is just amazing.

Genesis the best live band on earth. The idea that this is the last we have seen live of genesis mades me very sad.
