I seen clips of Gilbert in the '80s, '90s, and at the time I had the various guitar magazines. It's not hard to believe he just recently tried the B.B. King style phrasing, because any examination of those early days would show that playing that way was anathema to him. But of course, each to his own. Gilbert is a brilliant player and a lot more down to earth than I would have guessed, though I doubt I'll be picking up any of his CDs any time soon.
