I like the mercedes fpr many reasons the interior is a real treat..Stylishy appointed, with rich materials. No overwhelming sense of plastic buttons.. The S class features a surprisingly user freindly central knob, topped with a cushioned leather hand rest, that opens clamshell style, I may be somewhat biased, but lexus has never really struck any passion in true car enthusaists..sure there nice well....

I was excited about the LS460, but now it looks like a larger GS460. It has no visual character..and i'm betting the driving experience mimics its face....The only accelaration time ive seen is a poor 6+ seconds to sixty. Maybey it was just that test car...Ive watched the park assist in acyion, and it takes more time to get the thing to read its surroundings and proceed. just put the damn thing in reverse, and turn the wheel. LS460 without a doubt is a good car but feels a bit too light to compare with S550. For local driving I much prefer LS460 but for long distance hi-speed driving S550 is way better.

Not the car for people who like cars. I don't think its bad at what it does (in fact its among the best isolation machines out there) but the LS just doesn't feel as special as a Mercedes or even Audi.

In a sense I suppose. Sure people love the Lexus for what it does (and its a fairly successful formula), but really I would rather be driven in an LS than drive one. I just don't see anything it offers that the competition does not.

I think it offers the best (quality+reliability)/cost ratio in the luxury car segment before hyundai came up with the genesis. A german car maker can never match that because EU wage structure are just ridiculously costly to maintain. To remain competitive they have to introduce newer technology in their cars, which sacrificed reliability. Im sure they can make reliable cars if they want, but not at a competitive price in the luxury segment.

Two vehicles almost equal perhaps, but they don't drive the same and they don't feel the same.

He also talked about output compared to the larger MB engine. The difference is torque: the Mercedes has a lot more of it and lower down in the range.

The new RX has a mouse-like nav system. It looks to be Lexus's I-drive/Command type system. Based on the reviews so far no one seems frustrated with the new Lexus mouse system. Leave it to the Japanese to get it right the first time.

I guess the reason why Lexus vehicles will become even more attractive is that an increasing amount of people can do without the garish overstated in your face mercedes brand and the other wild irresponsible bmw brand. with the massive financial fall out these days, you'll really look out of place with those risky german brands. I disagree. The toss up is between the BMW 7 and the LS460. The S550 is far beyond both cars in its level of refinement.

The LS460 has a nice backseat with a reclining chair if you get it optional...but both seats don't recline. Hopefully, the next S-class has dual recliners back there.

let me set the record straight on some engineering..the autoparking feature was invented by BMW in 2002, the electric shade screens was invented by BMW,the auto opening trunk was invented by BMW in 2002.And the vacuum doors were invented by Merc..in 1991.Active headlights were invented by BMW,and auto leveling was invented by Merc.Benz..and the electro magnetic shifting was a bmw invention and the energy reserve set up for the alternator was and is a BMW patent.so Germans dont make good cars???

Lexus never break down. I live in the UK and my neighbours 1990 Lexus ls400 has done 325,000 miles and it feels nearly new. The lexus LS460 has also won world car of the year. If you step into your mercedes benz at the back you wont find air conditioned, electrice massaging rear seats. In fact some of these aren't even in the options list. The lexus is the best luxury car in the WORLD

The video review definetly hit one strong point: Lexus didn't go with any of that silly iDrive or command wheel control schemes their competitors used, and instead stuck with simple buttons and touchscreen. Other cars may have more luxury and class, but Lexus is the most practical of the lot.
