I'm glad to see a reviving interest and I hope it continues to flourish. This is not a matter of "it looks cool", it is an important part of European heritage and should be preserved.
And this is where the Asian martial arts have it all over Europe. Forget questions of samurai vs. knight or kung-fu vs. man-at-arms, the important fact is that many cultures of Asia kept their martial arts alive, while Europe did not.
